Catchup and Friday Book Club

Wow, it's Friday again already! How did that happen?!

I'm off to have a hot chocolate with Ashwini and a good friend this morning, then it's back into Psy-Changeling #15. If you missed this month's newsletter, Psy-Changeling #15 will feature an ensemble cast and be a book about family, whether that family is related by blood, by loyalty, or myriad other bonds.

While I was traveling, I made my way through Ramez Naam's Nexus trilogy. This is science fiction (no romance), and I found the concepts within it both fascinating and thought-provoking. Plus, it's a great action story.

My current read is an early copy of JD Robb's Devoted in Death (out Sep 15th). It's awesome as always.

A great big thank you to all of the readers who made my first Canadian signing so totally awesome!! Now I'm going to expect a standing-room only audience at any future signings I do here! :-)

We did record the Q&A and so did a reader, so once one of the videos goes live, I'll post up the info.

Then, to top off my good mood this morning, I woke to find the Psy-Changeling series on NPR's list of 100 Swoon-Worthy Romances. Check it out - there are tons of great recommendations on the list!

Today and tomorrow, I'm holing up in my hotel room to finish the final proofs of Rock Redemption. It's already been edited and proofread professionally, but I like to do my own read before I turn over the manuscript for formatting, make sure no gremlins have snuck in.

Also, don't forget, the second excerpt from Archangel's Enigma goes up next week, August 4th.

I'm officially back at my desk today (though technically, I'm at the dining table - the sunlight coming through the windows is beautiful here right now).

I hope you're all having an amazing start to the new year. Are you looking forward to anything in particular in 2015? Any new year's resolutions? :-)

Hello everyone! I'm working a little on one of my "play" projects today. These are projects that aren't contracted books, but that I like to stretch my mental muscles with - ANGELS' BLOOD was originally one, so you never know what might appear as a result of my experimenting.

I'm currently going over the final typeset pages of SHIELD OF WINTER, trying to catch those sneaky typos.

I'm hard at work on Shield of Winter. This is a complex story with multiple threads, but Ivy and Vasic's story is at the very core.

This Week...

So far this week:

1. I've been to to the dentist.

2. I've been to the dentist a second time. Now I'm freeeeeeeeee!! (Maybe not forever, but I'll savor the joy while it lasts).

3. Cracked the glass on a picture frame, then realized no one can tell the glass is missing, so it'll be going back up. ;-)

4. Baked gluten free red velvet cupcakes. (I used this recipe from the Sprinkles cupcake shop in L.A.)

5. Finished the last of the custard cream cookies in the cookie jar. (These are very dunkable cookies).

6. Retweeted this gorgeous image of two lion cubs.

7. And posted this quote from Archangel's Legion on Facebook. Here it is for those of you who aren't on FB. I hope you enjoy!

Kisses down her throat. "I wouldn't wish my consort to suffer ennui."

Chest heaving...she managed to say, "Ennui, yes, that's exactly what I feel right now."

Reading & Writing

I'm working on the first draft of Psy-Changeling #13 (Vasic's story), and he's making me a little crazy. So difficult to get him to talk!

In other news, I opened up Whisper of Sin to check something tonight and ended up reading the whole novella. I adore Emmett and Ria. This particular exchange between Emmett and a young Dorian (the story is set a few years back) made me grin.

"Sooooo...what happens if I flirt with Ria?"
"I use your ribs to make a wind chime."
"That's what I thought."

If you haven't read this novella, it'll be available on its own in electronic format in March next year. It's currently available as part of the Burning Up anthology, which is completely awesome and includes one of my all time favorite novellas by Meljean Brook - "Here There Be Monsters".

It's now after midnight and I feel like a little more reading - hmm, what to choose (not that I don't have a towering tbr pile!)

I've started working on the next Psy-Changeling book - very early days yet, but I can see it taking shape. I'm also going over the final proofs for Archangel's Legion (excerpt in next newsletter and then the website).

Archangel's Legion is done and handed in! Woohoo!! It's a little too early for excerpts since the release date is end of October, but I'll have something for you a few months out from the release. :)
