Angels' Blood Countdown: Ilona Andrews - The Kate Daniels Series

Winner: The random numbers have rolled and the lucky winner is Zealith! Zealith, please email me at nalinisinghwrites AT gmail DOT com.
______________

7 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD and only 1 till ANGELS' PAWN hits the e-shelves!!

Here's what Christine of The Happily Ever After... had to say after beginning ANGELS' BLOOD:

I started reading Angel's Blood last night and it is amazing. ..All the hype is true! Honestly, I'm only on page 133, but so far, it is really fantastic. The characters, the series premise, the conflict, the WORLD. Brilliant. Just brilliant. You're going to love it!

As part of the countdown celebrations, I declare today Ilona Andrews' day!!

Yes, that's right, not only do I have signed copies of Magic Bites & Magic Burns thanks to Ilona Andrews, I also have an ARC of Magic Strikes courtesy of the wonderful Anne Sowards at Ace/Roc!

If you've been reading this blog a while, you know that Ilona is one of my favorite writers, and I'm certain Magic Strikes is going to be completely full of awesome. Click on the Ilona Andrews tag at the bottom of this post to read about Magic Bites and Magic Burns. You can also check out excerpts on Ilona's webpage.

Here's the blurb for Magic Strikes, which releases March 31st! (More Kate and Curran mmmm)

Drafted into working for the Order of Merciful Aid, mercenary Kate Daniels has more paranormal problems than she knows what to do with these days. And in Atlanta, where magic comes and goes like the tide, that's saying a lot.

But when Kate's werewolf friend Derek is discovered nearly dead, she must confront her greatest challenge yet. As her investigation leads her to the Midnight Games - an invitation only, no holds barred, ultimate preternatural fighting tournament - she and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, uncover a dark plot that may forever alter the face of Atlanta's shapeshifting community...
To enter to win the entire set, all you have to do is leave your answer to this question in the comments (question courtesy of Amy): Which author would you target with a gun/ability/spell/whatever that makes them write the same great quality stuff, but FASTER (because isn't that what we all want - more great books by our fav writers)!?!?

I have quite a few authors that I would like to do that to. Here are some of them: Christine Feehan, C.L. Wilson, Jacqueline Frank, Lara Adrian, of course Nalini Singh, and many more.

I'd zap J.R. Ward with a speed writing/publishing spell. I love her books!

Excited about Angel's Pawn tomorrow!

I can't pick just one author... but I wonder how much anticipation I'd lose if some of my favorites wrote faster? Hmm.

Anyway, some of them would be J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, you, Karen Marie Moning, Jim Butcher, Eileen Wilks, Kelley Armstrong...

I wish this spell upon Meljean Brook. I love her Guardians Series and my withdrawl shakes are getting difficult to control since the recent posting of her new and ultra fabulous cover for 'Demon Forged'. I MUST HAVE THAT BOOK!

Karen Marie Moning!!! I dream about the Fever series for weeks after reading the latest book. I MUST know who Barrons really is.

And C.L. Wilson, because I NEED to know what happened to the twins and their hot guards.

There are a ton more, but those are my top two a the moment :-)

Theres a couple I would do this to:

Vicki Pettersson
Karen Marie Moning
Eileen Wilks
Kelley Armstrong
Kim Harrison

are just a few. But if they did write faster I wouldnt have time to find new authors to read either like Kate Daniels or Nalini Singh or some of the many others that have been listed in the past couple days. My wishlist is growing by leaps and bounds.

What a hard choice, here are some of mine: Sherrilyn Kenyon, Colleen Gleason, Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich.

Anonymous said...

Like everyone else I can't come up with just one. A few of mine would be: Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole, Lora Leigh, and Lisa Kleypas

Lizzielvr said...

I would be busy for hours, there are so many great ones...but to narrow it down...
Kresley Cole
JR Ward
Nalini Singh
Carolyn Jewel
Jaid Black

I was really excited about this question, until I thought about what it would mean for me! lol
a) I would be broke!
b) I wouldn't have any time as all I would be doing is reading
c) I have other authors I must read.
So, truthfully, I am happy to just get any new books!

Anonymous said...

Right now I'm chomping at the bit for new books in Richelle Mead's YA and Succubus series.

Lisa said...

I have several
Lora Leigh
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Christine Feehan
Jordan Summers
Patricia Briggs
Nalini Singh
Charlaine Harris

Oooh...Ilona would be #1 on my list. I need MORE. Also, Rachel Vincent and Kelley Armstrong...Well, maybe everyone, to be completely honest.

LighthouseSandy said...

LOL, well, I'll choose a spell, don't think either me or the author wants a gun involved! There's so many to choose! C.L. Wilson, Kathryne Kennedy, Karen Marie Moning, JR Ward, Lora Leigh, Kresley Cole, Kathryn Smith...... It goes on forever!

alanajoli said...

Gosh, I can hardly keep up with all the amazing writers I like--they can keep writing at their own speeds!

However, if I could get a quick peek into the future to read Richelle Mead's next Succubus book before it came out... well, I'd definitely leap at that opportunity. I'm super excited for Ilona's new book, too, and if it ends on a cliffhanger, she's right after Richelle on my list. :)

LighthouseSandy said...

ACK! And Nalini Singh, of course! OMG, that's an embarrassing omission! LOL, that's what I get for being too fast on the publish button!

Oh, how cool to be quoted on your blog, Nalini! That made my day! I have to add that I finished Angel's Blood this morning and quite simply LOVED this book! Congratulations, Nalini. You've topped my charts with this one... and I'm sure you're going to top best selling charts as well! :)

My answer to your question would be Nalini Singh (Angel's Kiss in 2010?? *gasp* Too long!), Larissa Ione, Megan Hart, and Lisa Kleypas.

Poor Derek. I love his character. Can't wait to read Magic Strikes!

Otherwise...
1. CL Wilson: NEED Queen of Song and Souls
2. Anne Bishop: Love that Black Jewel World
3. Ilona Andrews: Need more Kate
4. Meljean Brook: Gotta love those Guardians.

Ilona Andrews - I could read her every day, her blog is hilarious!
Meljean Brook - also hilarious
Kresley Cole - bring on the Nixie!

FD said...

If I had to pick only one....Lois McMaster Bujold.

Otherwise: Robin McKinley and Diane Duane tie for second place. Patricia Briggs, Holly Black, Neil Gaiman, Ilona Andrews, Doranna Durgin, Jim Butcher, Carrie Vaughn, Kristen Brittain, Michelle Sagara ... I could go on and on and on, so I'll stop before I babble.

*sigh* But you can't rush story.

What I'd really like is for certain authors to well... not be dead. There's something heartbreaking about finishing the last book by a beloved author, and knowing there will never, ever, be anymore.

Anonymous said...

I can't just pick one either so I would Zap any/all of the following:
Nalini Singh
Ilona Andrews
Patricia Briggs
Karen Chance
Kelly MCCullough
Rob Thurman
Lisa Shearin
P C Hodgell

Anonymous said...

Patricia Briggs
JD Robb
Nora Roberts
Old style Linda Howard
Nalini Singh

and many, many more..

oh, there are so many! But here are a few... well, more than a few, I guess...

Nalini Singh
Patricia Briggs
Ilona Andrews
Steve Miller and Sharon Lee
Zoe Sharp
Laurell K Hamilton
Lois McMaster Bujold
Sharon Shinn
Wen Spencer
Anne Bishop
Lilith Saintcrow

And that magic spell would also ensure that they are paid very generously, so they don't need day jobs, have health insurance, and can just write and write...

Too much to ask...? It is magic, right?

Denise said...

Ilona of course! She is leaving those snippets of Kate 4 on her blog and I'm dying to read Kate 3!

Anonymous said...

To be honest I am always amazed at the speed at which authors get books finished, given the slow pace that I write at.

If I could use the spell though I would spell Isobelle Carmody for the Obernewtyn series.

(And if I had more than one application of the spell - JR Ward, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Rachel Caine, Rachel Vincent, Lauren Willig, Richelle Mead.... ok everyone on my must read list).

g said...

Well, you of course ;). I can't wait for Mercy's book, after which I'll be anxious for the Dev's book, and the next book, and so on. I'm so glad that Angels' Pawn is going to be out tomorrow, and I'll be at the bookstore next Tuesday to pick up my copy of Angels' Blood.

But also:
Ilona Andrews (I can't wait for Magic Strikes - Kate!!!)
Ann Aguirre (must know what happens next)
C.L. Wilson (more Tairen)

and for some variety:
Joanna Bourne (awaiting Maggie's story)
Elizabeth Elliott (I hear she's almost done with her manuscript, after a loooong break)

Hmm only one? oh dear well I would love to encourage a lot of writers to write faster at the same quality maybe it (speeding the whole process up)would save them some stress and hassle and would certainly make me happier. Well my shortlist would probably be:
Ann Aguirre
Jeanine Frost
Kristen Brittain
Ilona Andrews
Keri Arthur
But I would have to pick Ilona as the snippets she is putting up on her blog are enough to drive any fan crazy especially Curran in the hot tub. I haven't even got my hands on book three and I can’t wait for book four and finding out more about Kate.

orannia said...

I can't pick one :) Hmmm:

- Nalini Singh (and if I could sit in your head and listen to the characters at the same time that would be even better :)
- JR Ward
- Patricia Briggs

Anonymous said...

I would immediately zap Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews with the "hurry up and write faster" spell as long as there was some sort of guarantee the quality would stay at their already high standards!!

Anonymous said...

For me, it'd have to be C.L. Wilson, Kresley Cole, and Christine Feehan. I would have included Nalini Singh, but since she's rewarding us with 3 books this year, I think she writes plenty fast.

I'd have to say either Alan Campbell, Patrick Rothfuss, or Anne Bishop. and Karen Marie Moning, Kresley Cole, Jaci Burton, Nora Roberts, Ann Aguirre, Lauren Dane, Eve Kenin, Julie Garwood (historicals), and more (this really could get quite long)
However, I don't really mind a little anticipation either..

Like everyone else I have a long list of authors I wish could write faster.
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Laurell K Hamilton
Nalini Singh
Susan Grant
Ann Aguirre
Christine Feehan
Angela Knight
Emma Holly
I could go on and on but won't, suffice to say I like reading books by great authors.

Love the question!

Lemme see... here are a few (long list)

Nalini Singh
Suzanne Brockmann
Shiloh Walker
Lauren Dane
Ann Aguirre
Meljean Brook

I gotta say, though, that I know several of these already write quite fast--what is needed is a publishing industry that would put the books out faster than a year!

I gotta go with Charlaine Harris and the Sookie Stackhouse series, because I can't get enough.

Hi there! Hey, thanks for the contest. These are always fun. I'm particularly interested in the Kate Daniels series because (blushes) I had the first two books once, bought from the bookstore, and I gave them away! Can you believe it? I read the first book while I was really sick and got the idea I didn't like it. So I traded them away. Now, I think I was just too sick to take in much and I want to try reading them again. Waaahh!

Anyway, enough sob stories. The two authors to whom I'd give a "writer faster" spell are definately Jim Butcher and Charlaine Harris. I could read and listen to their books over and over and over and... :)

Thanks again for the contest!

I'd also include a "quick" spell for their publishers too ;P

Nalini Singh
Charlaine Harris
Ilona Andrews
Sara McCarty
Christine Feehan

Tanya Huff
Patricia Briggs
Ilona Andrews
...can I have one for myself? It'd save me a whole lot of time.

Actually, I'd LOVE to put a spell on the publishers who are in charge of releasing the backlog of books written by my fav authors (and do so, slooowly! harrumph!). But on second thought, maybe if the spell WAS placed on the author(s), the backlog would grow even bigger, forcing the publishers to finally release the books faster! :)

So, lemme see... I would be def. be spelling:
Illona Andrews (of course!)
Lilith Saintcrow
Patricia Briggs
Ann Aguirre
Jeannine Frost
Vicki Peterson
Kim Harrison
Kelley Armstrong

(I don't ask for much, do I? haha)
