12 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD and only 6 till you can get your hands on ANGELS' PAWN!

Here's what Romantic Times BookClub Magazine had to say about ANGELS' BLOOD:
With the launch of a second paranormal series, Singh provides incontrovertible evidence that she's an unrivaled storyteller...This book should be at the top of your must-buy list! Tremendous!
Today, we've got two ARCs to give away thanks to the wonderful Jennifer St Giles!

The first is for Kiss of Darkness, her
April release. Blurb below!
A vampire bite has Sheriff Sam Sheridan on the fast track to hell and demons are taking over Twilight Tennessee. He's battling not only to save both his soul and his town, but also his love for one woman, Emerald Linton.

Emerald has a secret that c
ould destroy both her and Sam. She is an angel, and if she can't save Sam from turning evil, then she'll have to kill him, no matter how much of her heart belongs to him.

Sam is determined to take as many demons and vampires down with him as he can a
nd to protect Emerald, but as the seductive dark power in him grows will he condemn Emerald to share his doomed fate, or will they both find a way out of hell.
The second is for Bride of the Wolf, a May release! Here's the blurb (follow the link to read an excerpt):
Injured Blood Hunter Navarre is kidnapped along with oil heiress Marissa Vasquez. Their bid for freedom, puts them into a deadly race for their lives as the become the hunted prey of two Vladarian Vampires and the evil Dr. Cinatas.

Together Marissa and Navarre's spirits form a powerful link matched only by their passion. But can a mortal woman attain true love with a man who is half wolf? Or will thier enemies steal their one chance at happiness?
We're going to pick two winners, one for each ARC, so start rubbing your lucky charm (especially if he's cute *grin)!

Today's entry question is from Lori T:
What was the last "new you to author" that you read and what made you choose their book?

Dang, that's a hard question! You, by winning bound galleys to Angel's Blood. Kresley Cole, when a friend's recommendation finally over rode my fear of the cover art on A Hunger Like No Other. J.R. Ward, when I found two of her Black Dagger Brotherhood books for sale at my library's "withdrawn books" shop and then found the rest of the books in the series on the shelf that same day.

Devon Monk . . . and I picked up her book because the cover looked cool, but what sold it for me was the recommendation blurb on the cover from Patricia Briggs stating SHE loved it. That was enough for me to smack down $6-$7 on an unknown author!

The last new to me author that I read was Megan Hart. I bought her new release Stranger because I had been hearing for the last year how intense and emotional her books are and finally had to try one of them. It was unbelievably amazing.

Marnie Colette said...

Linda Wisdom. I picked up (cover looked like an easy read and I was on vacation) 50 Ways to Hex your lover... Loved it and just finished reading Hex Appeal.

The last unknown author for me, well that would JR.Ward, I had heard so much about her since I got into the whole paranormal world. So I thought why not give her a try. I bought the first book and to my horror they had no more, but thanks to the net and a great friend I got the rest :D

The last new to me author I read was Jeri-Smith Ready and her book Wicked Game. I had read about it on her website earlier this year and it sounded so good I had to track down a copy. How can you go wrong with vampires and rock 'n roll. I am now axiously awaiting the sequel to come out.

I just started reading the Sue Grafton mysteries and I really like them. I had always wanted to read the whole alphabet series so when I saw that my library had them all I decided to start

R. Garland Gray - Her Fey series. I happened to see the book cover somehow on Barnes & Noble (cool covers) and then read the synopsis and gave it a try. Now I'm hooked.

My last new author was Lara Adrian's "Kiss of Midnight". I usually try to read 6 new authors every 2 weeks. I chose that books because of the genre, reviews, and the cover. Covers are usually the 1st thing I pay attention to.

Rebecca Chastain said...

Neil Gaiman (ANANSI'S BOYS)--I picked up Gaiman's book because for the previous few weeks it seemed I couldn't go anywhere (Internet-wise) or talk to anyone about books without his name coming up, so I took it as a sign. So far, so good. I picked this particular book because it sounded light-hearted, and because when I thumbed through, each of the chapters has a funny title (for example, Chapter One, Which is mostly about names and family relations) and also because of the dedication.

My latest new to me author is Patricia Briggs. I had heard great things about her but usually stay away from first person books so I went on her website and saw the Alpha and Omega series.

Larissa Ione was the last new to me author that I tried. I had read a ton of great reviews for Pleasure Unbound and decided to read it before the next two books in the Demonica series were released. It just sounded like an interesting premise so I gave it a shot. I loved it and cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

That would be Erin McCarthy, and I believe I saw a review for one of her books that interested me. I've read all of them now. :)

The last new author I read was Carolyn Jewel - Scandal. One of the best historical romances I have read in a long time.

Helen Scott Taylor. I had read her entries in the American Title contest and was hooked from the start, so I was thrilled when she won and eagerly awaited the publication of her book. It was well worth the wait.

Nate Kenyon (book was The Reach). I chose it because the little girl on the cover in the straight-jacket was so incredibly creepy looking. Too bad the cover was the scariest part of the book...lol

Deidre Knight (though I haven't read it yet) and it's all KB's fault! ((KB)) She's always making go get those books!

My newest author to read was Barry Eisler and his John Rain series. It takes a special talent to get a reader turning the pages and rooting for an assassin. LOL. The writing was also superb! It was great to hear what all of you ladies are reading! I think I too, have read most of the authors mentioned and love them. I hope you all get the chance to check out Kiss of Darkness and Bride of the Wolf and will let me know what you think of them!
Happy Reading.

Hi Nalini :-) Can't wait for Angel's Blood!!
'Jacob' by Jacquelyn Frank. A friend recommended it to me.

My last unknown author was Sherrilyn Kenyon, it was one of her dark-hunter books Seize the Night. And I read it because a friend lent it to me...and after that I got every book in the series that had come out so far. It was a really good read.

Susan Grant. I read the Warlord's Daughter and wanted to read the prequels. So I did. I loved her Otherworldly Men series. Not as crazy about the Borderlands series. Her portrayal of the Drakken people just isn't realistic. No society as oppressed as that one could possibly last hundreds of years. It wouldn't last fifty.

Robyn Carr has been a relatively new to me author. I've enjoyed both of her series in the past few months.

VampFanGirl said...

Beth Kery. She asked me to review her novel 'Wicked Burn'. But also a lot of bloggers and Amazon reviews said it was a must read. And I have to agree. :)

Natasha said...

Sasha White, Mackenzie McKade, J.D. Ward and so many more!
I am discovering all of these authors through Yahoo groups that I have been joining. AND I started using Google Reader. I keep getting all of these recommened sites, and I keep reading about new authors who really interest me!

Marie said...

Jasmine Haynes. Just finished reading her book Show and Tell, loved it!

The last new to me is the one I'm reading now it's Magic to the Bone by Devon Monk. I actually saw someone blog about this author and thought it sounded really good. So far it's wonderful really enjoying it.

Actually, I've requested the first book by a new-to-me author today: Melusine by Sarah Monette.

I read the summary (and then review) on a blog I frequent and it sounded mind-blowing!

Deborah Cooke was my latest discovery and it was a good one. The cover of her latest book look interesting and the blurb on the back sounded good. Since I have to start at the beginning of any series, I ended buying the 3 books that are in the series so far, they were all good reads!

Hmmm... lemme see... *off to check list*

*back*

I believe the last new-to-me author I read was Karina Bliss. The novel was Second-Chance Family, and I got it at a giveaway right here *waving at Nalini and Karina*

I would have gotten around to getting it sooner or later anyway, because of what Nalini had to say about it.

Jeanne Ryan said...

Technically it was you since I won an ARC for Angel's Blood. I wanted it because I heard about it on the Knight Agency's blog and it had kick ass angels so I had to have it.

Before that it was Rachel Vincent. She was on my way too long to-read list for Urban fantasy/paranormal romance. I was at the library and in the new books section was Stray. My library has a new librarian who is into UF and she's been ordering great stuff, including backlists of the series she orders new books from.

This is a hard call but I believe the newest to me author is Elizabeth Amber.

Honestly, I picked up her books because of the covers. Can a girl go wrong with half naked men on the covers? I think not!

Luckily, her books aren't shabby, either.

The last new author I read was Dru Pagliassotti who wrote Clockwork Heart. It was a great book and I chose it because I saw a lot of great reviews for it. It looked and sounded really interesting and I was not disappointed

Melissa Marr. I liked the book description for Wicked Lovely, and sure enough, it was fabulous! :)

Lora Leigh. I was just roaming around the amazon book lists people create and I saw that several of her books had cool covers and it had a high rating. Since so many people thought it was really good, I decided to dheck it out and I have to say they are AMAZING!!! I quickly fell in love with them =)

Mine is Sydney Croft and the book is Riding the Storm which is part of her ACRO series. I am absolutely loving and I am glad that I have the next two in my tbr pile.

Julia James. A friend recommended her Broken Wing, saying she'd heard really good things about it, everyone loving it. She and they were spot on Wonderfully written book! I'm looking forward to more of her work.

Jean Johnson, Sons of Destiny.
I saw her books while browsing on amazon and liked what I read and the covers are nice, so I started the series. Pretty good :)

Hmm...that's a hard question b/c all of the authors I read started out as new to me authors. I think the last was Eloisa James. I started her Desperate Duchesses series b/c the Book Smugglers were talking about it. Loved them! :)

Debra Webb because I liked the color of the cover and the summary sounded interesting to me.

Hmm..the last "new to me" author I read was Eve Kenin. I read her book "Hidden", because I won it in a giveway and I absolutely loved it. It was action-packed and intense till the last page =)

A Well Favored Gentleman by Christina Dodd. I normally don't like historical romances, but this one had a surprising paranormal edge to it.

Pam P said...

Broken Wing by Judith James, fabulous debut book. I had come across her site somewhere and liked what I read, then started seeing raves about it around and moved it up the buy list.

Eleni Konstantine said...

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I'd been on the waiting list at my library for months and finally read her first Sookie Stackhouse at the beginning of the month. Great timing for True Blood premiering on Foxtel. :)

Congrats on Angel's Blood...

For me it was AJ Llewellyn and Stephani Hecht. I discovered their books because I interviewed them for a guest blog at the Loveromances and More blog.

Mieke said...

For me that was Patricia Briggs. I think it was the covers that convinced me. Because reading about the books I thought it would be yet another werewolf series. But after picking up the first one I was completely hooked and had to have the rest. So very happy I let myself go by the cover this time.

Lisa J said...

Leigh Wyndfield. I saw one of her books on Samhain's website and gave it a try. I liked it enough to buy the other three in the series.

CrystalGB said...

I would have to say Anya Bast. I had heard great buzz about her books and the blurbs sounded good so I wanted to read them.

Jill Sorenson. I picked "Crash into me" because of the review in Dear Author.

Amy said...

I picked up Marc del Franco's Weird books because Jeanine Frost kept talking about them on her blog. I've really enjoyed them - good pickup!

I've also picked up several authors because I see a cover blurb by either Patricia Briggs of Lynn Viehl - can't go wrong if they like the book :).

kim said...

Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series is awesome. She has great reviews and very interesting characters.

Heather B. said...

I would have to say Elizabeth Amber. I picked up one of her books at a used book store because the cover pulled me in. I have read the entire Lords of Satyr series and have a signed copy of Dominic, Book 4 in that series.

Not to mention, she is the nicest person ever and she reads/answers her emails.

Larissa Ione and her Demonica series... I was just browsing for something new and the cover looked intriguing. I'm so glad I picked it up - can't wait for more from this author!

"Tempt me with Darkness" by Shayla Black. I'd seen it in Borders three or four times and the blurb and cover were only half-interesting. It made me think that this was a paranormal with a historical setting. When my friend read it, she loved it. Finally, I bought it and found out it's actually very good and is set in the present in England. Can't wait for the next one!

KJsGrrl said...

The "new to me" that I tried out was Maureen Child - "Bedeviled". I bought it based on the blurb. I didnt like it as much as I thought I would, but I'm willing to give her another chance.

The last new author I read was Sherrilyn Kenyon, my close friend recommended the Dark-Hunter series to me. What is funny is that I read a short story by her before my friend recommended the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the short story (which is from the Dark-Hunter world) so with her praise, I tried it. I must say it is a fantastic series. Luckily for me, the short story was a stand alone and not a spoiler in any way. But I have found numerous good authors by reading short story anthologies.

Esri Rose. Her book was different- paranormal about an Elf. I find Elfs sexy and cute. I am waiting for her next Elf book that is coming up this year

Lili said...

C.L. Wilson. I'd heard really good things about her series but I hadn't gotten around to reading it until I saw it in the library one day. I was hooked from the first page and devoured the next two books in the series in less than two days. Now I'm just (im)patiently waiting on the finale!
