Angels' Blood Countdown: Catherine Spangler - Touched By Light ARC

Winner: The random winner of this ARC is Lisa N! Lisa N, please email me at nalinisinghwrites AT gmail DOT com.
______________

8 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD and 2 days till ANGELS' PAWN!

Here's what Hilicia J Suarez, one of the winners of the ARC contest had to say about ANGELS' BLOOD:

The interactions between the Archangel Raphael and Elena are fraught with tension and heat from beginning to end. Raphael is powerful, ruthless, frightening and one sexy Archangel. Elena is a strong, talented, hardheaded, vulnerable, frightened and sexy Vampire Hunter... Together, they make for
an explosive combination.

Ms. Singh has done an excellent job of combining the best of both worlds, Urban Fantasy and Romance with this installment. I am more than looking forward to the next one!

_____________

The countdown continues with an ARC of Catherine Spangler's Touched By Light, part of her Sentinel
series. Check out the brief blurb below:
Since a brutal attack, Dr. Julia Reynolds is determined to live a solitary existence. But one man who believes she’s his soul mate and his destiny has other ideas…

Coming June 2009 . . . the ultimate battle of the sexes, when Julia Reynolds and Adam Masters (first introduced in Touched by Fire) come together in a war of wills, a fiery sexual attraction, and the threat of unimaginable evil.
The book releases June, and Cathy will post out the ARC as soon as she receives it! Check out more info on the series at Cathy's website.

To enter, leave a comment with your answer to this question (supplied by Willa):
If you have an all time favourite book/s do you like to collect the different cover versions when they are re-released? My addition to the question: Do you reread?

Answer either part of the question to enter!

p.s. My Internet connection is a bit erratic at the moment, so some winners may be picked a bit later. More time to get your entries in!

I almost always reread my books, especially if they're one of my favourites.

I do reread. But I do not collect different cover versions. If something happens to the first copy I will replace it though.

I love to re-read books, especially comfort reads.

There are definitely certain books I re-read. Sometimes, a line or a scene from a particular book pops into my head and won't go away until I read the book. Does that happen to anyone else?

As for covers....no, although I am in the process of purchasing the Black Jewels books at the moment and I want the new covers (because they are so pretty). Apart from that, it's about the size of the book (it has to match with the others in the series that I already have).

I don't buy re-releases, because I feel odd having 2+ of the same book. And yes, I love re-reading! Definitely a re-reader.

Mandi said...

I definitely reread..it is one of my favorite things to do:) I don't think I have ever bought a rerelease of a book I already own.

I don't collect all the covers, but I definitely re-read my favorite books, though not necessarily when the book is re-released. More often, it happens by accident--I go to look up a part or a scene, see how the author handled it, and find myself still sitting in the same position several hours later, having read far past the scene I originally was looking up.

I'd love to reread, but I have too huge of a TBR mountain to do it right now. And for that same reason, I don't collect different versions of my favorite books. I don't have room for the books I have now, let alone the same book with a different cover on it!

Anonymous said...

I always reread my favorites, especially if I'm feeling stressed or down, but I don't collect different versions.

Donna said...

No, I don't collect the different covers - sometimes I am tempted though, when the new cover is gorgeous. I have been known to reread, but not lately. My TBR list is astronomically!

azteclady said...

I re-read--all the time.

My keepers are books I know I'll read again--and some of them have the scars to show for it *wince*

I first started buying books seriously when the library decommissioned some of my favourite books due to age/condition, that meant I couldn't' reread them. I knew then I would have to own if I wanted to reread - and yes I'm a total rereader. If fact unless the author is well known to me (like Nalini) I often won't buy a book until I've already read it.
But I don't need more than one copy (plus I have no room) so I don't buy different cover versions.

I would definitely reread books if the storyline is unforgettable, like Diana Gabaldon and Sara Donati. I also go through phazes, like Jane Austen every other year.

Blodeuedd said...

No I have never actually even thought of getting different versions of the book, maybe if there is nothing left of it.
As for re-read, oh yes! My fav book I have re-read every summer for 7 years :D

twalls said...

I don't need different covers, just one version of the book is fine. I always reread my books since I only collect my favorites and comfort reads.

I feel like I've been waiting years for Spangler's next book in this series. So glad it's coming out soon.

When my favorite books are re-released I don't get the new cover unless my copy is really worn out.

I do reread and wish I had more time to reread some of my old favorites. I'm participating in a reread challenge this year and it's been very hard to chose which books to read for the challenge.

Oh yeah I re-read all the time! And like azteclady some have the scars to prove it :::hiding behind chair to avoid thrown items:::

I don't collect covers though on re-releases at least not intentionally.

orannia asked: Sometimes, a line or a scene from a particular book pops into my head and won't go away until I read the book. Does that happen to anyone else?Oh yes, yes, me too!

And sometimes whatever it is gets stuck in my craw because I can't remember which book it is--though this happens mostly in long running series. I mean, there are a gazillion In Death titles, in which one did Roarke said this, or Even said that? gah!

*ahem*

I definitely love, love, love Mercury's War by Lora Leigh! I never get tired of rereading it but I would never buy the different covers, I rather wait and save for another new book! I am definitely a re-reader =)

Anonymous said...

I do reread especially if another book has come out in a series and I don't remember all the nuances. But, I only do this for my all time favorites.

I've never bought a re-release of books. I'm happy with the old ones and don't feel the need to spend the cash for a newer cover.

I'm nostalgic, too. I like reading the old ones because that is the first one I read.

Michelle Olsen Sasak said...

I'm always most partial to the cover the book had when I first read it. Later cover re-dos don't look as nice because at that point I am biased. I definitely reread :)

Danni T said...

I don't collect different cover versions but I do reread often. If the newest book in a series is coming out, a lot of the times I'll reread the books that came before it, just so everything is fresh in my mind.

Lisa F. said...

I always reread my books. I will purchase new books with different covers if my other book is a little worn from rereading.

Una said...

I do not collect the various cover versions of my favorite book of all time.

I definitely reread. In fact, I borrow most of my books from the library or friends. You know I LOVE a book because I buy it so I can continue to reread to my hearts content. That being said, I do not own many series, but the ones I do, get a workout! =)

Anonymous said...

No, I just cherish the version of the beloved book I have.
I don't re-read because there are always so many other books I want to get to in my lifetime!

Erika Powell said...

I don't collect the different covers of my favorite book, i tend to just reread them a million times

Anonymous said...

I reread many of my books, if I decide I won't reread it then it gets donated to the library or to someone else who wants to read it.
As for covers, I would love to collect them all, BUT, I can't! So expensive. HOWEVER, the Anita Blake series, I ended up rebuying the first 4 or 5 as they changed the covers so the new ones didn't match the old ones! They had to match of course! :D lol

Anonymous said...

Hmm if I like a series enough and I like the new cover versions that are coming out I will totally buy them and reread them! :) I only do it for my favorites though ;)

Anonymous said...

As it has been said too many books so little time. Occasionly I will reread a comfort read but not often.

Chris said...

I don't collect multiple versions/releases of the same title. But I do reread things that I found really compelling. I read the Black Dagger Brotherhood twice in a month after I discovered J.R. Ward.

Anonymous said...

I don't collect different covers but I definitely re-read. I only replace books if I lose them or if they get damaged. Like orannia, when a scene pops in my head it won't go away until I reread the book. I also reread books in a series if a new book is coming out.

Jess McAlister said...

Yes,

If they are a huge favourite i tend to need all thier books also if they become big enough that thier books start being released in hard back then i will collect the HB to.

there is only a handful of authors i would do this for

the only reason i would is if i totally hated the new covers (this happend with one author)

Anonymous said...

I do reread my books. I usually don't buy a re-release if I have it. I have been known to buy one when the cover is different though. lol.

Anonymous said...

I constantly reread my favorite books, but I've never bought a book twice unless the first was damaged in some way.

Lisa said...

I don't collect the different versions. I always reread my favorites

Pam P said...

Even though I may like reissue cover much more, I won't buy another copy for just that reason. I'll re-read some of favorites after a long time passes, when I can't recall specifics much anymore.

macbeaner said...

If I love the book, I will definitely re-read it at some point.

The Brunette Librarian said...

Hi Nalini Singh! :) I have totally been known to buy a re-released version of a book. So many authors re-vamp the books when they are released so I hate to miss anything...and more often than not, I like the re-released covers better...and if I buy the re-released book, I DEFINETLY re-read!! :)

Unknown said...

I also love to re-read a favorite, especially if it's been a while since the last time I read it. But I usually can't afford to collect the different covers (even though I am loving the new cover for "An Enchanted Season").

Anonymous said...

I love rereading books; especially if they've become favorites. Normally though, I do not collect different covers unless its from different countries--those are fascinating! But if something happens to my original copy, I do replace it with the newly released :)

Darcy Jo said...

I think I've reread almost all of the books I own (which is a lot). The books I love, however, have been reread so many times I could probably recite them to you word for word. I'm down to it only taking me a couple hours to read some of my fav's!

I don't generally buy re-releases. However, I do like all of my series' to match. They all either have to be the originals, or the new covers. So I will either scour E-bay for original covers, or go purchase the new covers, based on which version the first book I bought is from.

Anonymous said...

Different covers are not a reason to buy another version. If the writer extends the book, that will be a reason to buy another one.
Rereading books is fantastic, I do it all the time.

Leontine said...

The luxury of re-reading is only bestowed upon me when I'm sick. For some reason I tend to grab my old time favorites to re-read. To answer the question about the covers, which is always a fun thing to talk about :D

I mainly go for the USA cover, since I think the UK covers are to bland. The last time I had another countries cover reigning supremacy over the US one is Anna Campbell with Tempt The devil, the US Avon cover was lovely but the Australian cover was so in line with the rest of her books and appealing that I was bummed the Australian version was a TPB size and in no way a match in book height for my Anna Campbell section in my bookcase LOL

If you want to talk print format I'm game, such frustration it can be. First paperback then a release in hardcover or to switch to Trade size AARRGGHHH Getting grey hairs as we speak from frustration.

I had Caressed By Ice bought by Rhapsody in hardcover format, celebrating the fact Nalini Singh was going HC with her Psy/Changeling series, only to find out the next releases were only in paperback. I have a passion for getting me treasured books in hardcover, not only does it make my heart go bump bump bump with infatuation looking at my shelves but I can re-read it as many times as I want to without the spine tearing and creasing up.

Hhhhmmm I feel like a weirdo sometimes when it comes to this but the books I buy in hardcover get a protective mylar jacket too so the papercover remains beautiful.

Ok, shutting up now before you all call the medics on my *blush*

Anonymous said...

Definitely a re-reader. I also have a scene pop into my head and then I have to re-read that book.

I have never collected the different covers, although I have purchased some by accident.

May said...

I really would like to collect all my favorite books in every covers but the truth is I did not have enough money to do so.

As for the reread, not as much as I like considering my TBR pile.

Anonymous said...

I like to re-read, though I tend to put some time between the first read, second, and sometimes third.

I don't collect covers, though I love looking at the different versions.

kim said...

I don't buy re-releases, but I do often reread books I own.

Marnie said...

I do not buy re-releases. I feel attached to the book I read.

Heather B. said...

I don't have to have every cover for the books. I have my favorites that I keep (your's are definetly keepers) and if they are keepers and I can get the hardback of them, I prefer that but it not, paperbacks will do.

Sometimes I re-read books but not very often. I have over 200 books in my home library that are my tbr stack and I keep finding more. I have some books I would love to re-read but I can't seem to get my tbr stack down to do that.

Lexie said...

There is only two series that I do that for--one is Maria V. Snyder's Study series. I have 4 versions of Poison Study, 3 of Magic Study and 2 of Fire Study (with a third Fire Study and a 4th Magic Study on the way). I've re-read those books a load of times. The other book is Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Child's Garden of Verses' poetry collection. I have 16 different versions of that collection, with my favorite being the Donna Green illustrated book (my first one, from my Grandparents when I was 10) and my most interesting being a selection of the poetry done in stitchery.

Well, on my all time favorite books I tend to enshrine them in a specific bookshelf and try to track the down the authors or wait [im]patiently for the authors to visit new york to get the books sign. I often reread them especially scenes or lines in the books I particularly love.

Definitely re-read. And at times purchase another copy because this one's falling apart.

I tend to like to keep my series the same. Have all them the same size/style of cover. Really was very upsetting when Piers Anthony changed publisher in the middle of his Incarnations of Immortality series and the covers were off in the later books. *sigh*

Spari said...

I do reread my books, but if I already have one, I'm not going to buy another version.

JH said...

Yes to both questions. If the books is re-released with a new cover, I'll get the new book. I love covers and the newer ones are almost always fab. I reread my favorites all the time.

Cathy M said...

I have a whole book case of favorites that I love to reread. If I have a favorite series, I usually reread the last story before immersing myself in a new release.

Anonymous said...

I don't usually collect covers. I am OCD enough to want all the sizes to match, but I've partly given up on that. I always reread. I'm currently on a reread kick and usually I don't buy a book unless I know it's one I'll consider rereading.

Anonymous said...

I don't collect different covers, I keep the original that I purchase. I AM a re-reader... my keepers are books that I will re-read over and over again.

Anonymous said...

I only get one version, UNLESS I score one at a booksale, than I'll keep all versions I find in adition to the first, or pass along to a friend so I don't have to loan one of my books :)
I ALWAYS re-read favorite stories, series and books by certain authors. And yes Nalini Singh's book ALL fall in the re-read category LOL

Anonymous said...

I reread alot of my autobuy authors or favourite parts in books. And once a year I do reread comfort books especially when I cant get into the current book I read.

Brooke Reviews said...

I would LOVE to be able to buy different cover versions of it. I think that would be really cool. Especially in all the different languages. :D

Karin said...

My favorite book is Jane Austen's Persuasion. I do have a few different versions of it, but not for the covers. I have multiple copies for the different additional material. However, I have been known to get different editions of things for the different covers. And, yes, I definitely reread. I have come across some very interesting things when I reread books - things I missed the first time I read it.

Jeanne Ryan said...

Some of my favorite books, I originally read in paperback, but knew they wouldn't survive the rereads, so I had to track them down in hard cover.

Anonymous said...

I definitely re-read books, especially when all the details start to become fuzzy. Just a refresher. I also re-read especially when it's a series and the next book is about to be released, that way I'm up on all the details.

FD said...

It's the contents that count so I don't care about the different versions. I re-read "old" favorites when I have nothing new I want to read.
