Mrs Palfrey At The Claremont

Have any of you seen this movie? It's such a lovely, lovely story. You can read the full blurb for it here, but it's basically about a friendship between an elderly woman and a struggling young writer. There's a sense of love in this movie that you don't often see on the silver screen.

Go rent it and get all sappy. :)

Got any other movie recommendations?

I absolutely loved this movie - it's too bad they don't make more movies like this!

I'll have to keep an eye out for this, hadn't heard of it before.

LOL - I think my taste in movies is I'm not sure what the word is.

A couple of my favourites are - the Long Kiss Goodnight (Samuel L. Jackson and Geena Davis), and High Heels and Low Lifes (Minnie Driver and Mary McCormak (I think)).

For foriegn films, I very much like Brotherhood of the Wolf. There's an absolutely beautiful sequence where it's snowing in the woods and it just has this dream-like quality as if what you're seeing isn't real.

I also recently purchased Pan's Labyrinth but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Just saw THE LAKEHOUSE last weekend, thought it was pretty good.

Forgot to add that one of my favourites is Ladyhawke starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer. Ladyhawke was made in the mid eighties, but I still love it.

Shellbell - LOVE that move. LOVE IT!! I must've seen it fifty times at least. It's right up there along with The Princess Bride.

Lesley - I'm interested in Pan's Labyrinth too. Is it out on DVD? Must go find a copy.

Lis - I enjoyed The Lake House too. :)

Nalini - yep I got Pan's Labyrinth on DVD, it was not shown at any of our local cinemas. :(

I'm in the UK though, so not sure about the release date in NZ. But if it's not out I wouldn't have thought it could be that far away.
