Only 6 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD!
!!
____________________

Today's first giveaway is courtesy of Vivi Anna - not one but two signed copies of her April release, The Vampire's Quest, book 4 in The Valorian Chronicles (to be posted out when she receives her author copies).

Here's the blurb:
IN A RACE AGAINST LIFE AND DEATH, ONE WOMAN HOLDS THE KEY TO SANITY AND SALVATION

After escaping from the Otherworld Crime Unit,
Kellen Falcon came to Nouveau Monde to crack a rare blood disease. But the European hotbed of temptation yielded sport no vampire could resist—criminologist Sophie St. Clair. And with only days to live, Kellen sought sweet release from her to escape a savage past.

The lycan beauty wasn’t one to stray from her pact. But an investigation into a downtown bombing now tied the two together. And it wasn’t long before Kellen’s smoldering eyes and Sophie’s fierce desire for this vampire put her loyalties to the test….
Today's entry question comes from Tammy: Do you LIKE/LOVE/ADORE and
want more excerpts(aka spoilers) from your fave authors?

I hate to read an excerpt unless I know I'll be reading the book like really soon. I just don't like to be taunted.

I love excerpts. Sometimes a blurb just won't do it for me...but when I read the excerpt THAT interests me in the book!

Love excerpts, gets me excited for the next book!

The only time I really like excerpts is when I'm trying to find out who the book is about and when I'm looking to see if the book is in 1st or 3rd person point of view.

I love excerpts and spoilers, the more the better :) But I have to say, those little clifhangers that the excerpts usually end on just kills me!

I like excerpts, espcially if I am undecided about a book or author. I hate spoilers though.

I love reading excerpts. But close to the day the book is coming out that way I don't have to wait as long to read the full book :)

I do read summaries and excerpts (when they are available). It's sad but I am a glutton for punishment. They get me all anxious and excited for when the next book comes out. I especially like the excerpts when it is for a book/series I haven't read yet - it really helps to give you a sense of the writing style and book so you know if you want to give it a shot or not.

However, I hate spoilers (I see excerpts as different from spoilers). The excerpts are great teasers which I do adore, but I can't stand the spoilers...I WANT to read the book for the answers/surprises. The excerpts I've read have done nothing - given away nothing - but make you excited and shivering with book release anticipation. There are, unfortunately, authors that do give spoileresque excerpts or straight up spoilers and I don't care for that.

(sorry this is so long)

I love excerpts! I think I'm a bit of an excerpt whore sometimes, but those tasty blurbs have opened up many new authors to me.

I love excerpts. Excerpts will help me decide if I want to buy a book or not. Some that I have gotten through email groups I'm part of have even led me to books and series that I had never heard of and might not have considered without the excerpts.

I love excerpts because I get a feel for the upcoming story and I start to have that "OOOO, I'm going to be getting another great book" anticipation. The only thing I don't like is if I have to wait a long time for the book.

I love excerpts... especially in email newsletters or on the authors blog/website. It just lets you feel connected to the characters even before you get their story! Reading even a small blurb can get my pulse pounding in anticipation!

Excerpts are cruel and unusual punishment!! But I must read them all...

I love excerpts and I'm all about spoilers.

I love excerpts... they tend to keep me drooling for more!

I don't think more is better in this case. One nice chunk is good enough.

And as much as I try to bribe you, Nalini, for more I love your little teases! BTW will alcoholic chocolate sauce get me any more inside goodies? *G*

I adore excerpts. It builds up the anticipation and I can't wait for the book to come out. I actually hate it when authors don't put excerpts because then I have to sit and wonder even more impatiently.

I don't like spoilers. I quite often won't even read the teasers at the end of books. Yeah, I know, I'm weird. I find it too hard, especially if I'm going to have to wait a few months for the next book to come out. I need instant gratification and teasers just make it worse. :)

I love excerpts. It's like shaking the presents at Christmas time. Alwyas want more from my favorite authors.

A blurb is kind of the best and worst of a situation don't ya think? I mean, it's great to find out what's coming next and read more story, but I absolutely HATE it because it always leaves you wanting more!! I know it's the purpose of an excerpt, but it still stinks...ecspecially if the book isn't coming out for months.

Pamk said...

love the excerpts cause I can find new authors. I usually skip the ones I will be reading anyway. Cause I am impatient and don't want to wait.

I LOVE EXCERPTS!!! As well as free short stories posted by authors. I don't really mind if the excerpt is posted before the book comes out, because it ensures that I never lose interest.

azteclady said...

erm... this one is difficult.

I like excerpts--from the beginning of the book. Part of the first chapter, yes. A prologue, perfect.

Snippets from anywhere else? No, please.

[I hatessess spoilers--they give me allergies and stuff]

I hate spoilers and excerpts! That's why the book reviews on my blog are so very, very brief, because I don't want to say anything that might ruin the book for someone else.

Jeanne Ryan said...

I came to fandom via Buffy. There spoilers were a cardinal sin. I still have trouble reading excerpts and such, even when I have to know if two people get back together or even if one of them survives.

I know authors are the ones who post the excerpts (if they aren't I definitely don't read them), but the author has a vision with the entire book. Things come in a certain order for a reason. I want to experience the book as it was intended.

I love excerpts!!! I'm a total biblophile and it makes me happy :D It does tease a lot, but I probably wouldn't be interested in as many authors/books if it weren't for the excerpts. Sometimes it also gets confusing with them all, because something happens to my fantastical brain that makes it lose its cool and forget what excerpt is from what book :P

I actually try not to read spoilers. I will read the back of the book synopsis but otherwise I try and go in not knowing a whole lot

Orangebeaker said...

I prefer excerpts over spoilers. There's a difference, since excerpts entice and spoilers ruin everything.

yes, yes, yes ...
I love getting hints, little surprises ...

No! LOL. I usually don't read excerpts -- just like a book, I get caught up in it and then bam! It's done and I'm not and I get soooo frustrated. And I really hate spoilers!

I do like excerpts when I'm checking out a new author I haven't read before.

Blodeuedd said...

Sometimes I do go all crazy over them, I am such a spoilerjunkie. But for the most I read something short, like a review an it stays with that. I like to get suprised

gawain said...

I usually don't read them, because they leave me wanting more and frustrated that I cannot read on. :) So nope they are not my thing. :)

Dannyfiredragon said...

Sometimes excerpts drive me crazy, especially when I know that I have to wait a long time till the book is released. So that is why I rarely read them.

Mandi said...

I love spoilers, but lately have been trying to avoid them...for me, it does make the reading experience more fun if I don't know what is going to happen. I still have the urge to sneak a peek ahead...but I can't help that!

Excerpts I love and always on the lookout for!!

May said...

I do not generally read excerpt because I would buy everything wrote by my favorite author anyway so no excerpt needed.

CrystalGB said...

I enjoy reading excerpts. It lets me get a sneak peek of the book. :)

kim said...

I love excerpts, but it is hard to have to wait for the book if the piece is really really good.

Spari said...

I like excerpts, but only if it contains something interesting.

I absolutely love excerpts! It gets me excited about the book that is coming out. Excerpts and the pictures of the covers, make my fingers twitch to get my hands on them .

Anonymous said...

The suspense would be killing, but I really like to read exerpts. It makes me want a book so much more if the exerpt is good and gives me a feeling like I want to read the book immediately. So yes, more exerpts, teasers and hints about what will be in a book.

Anonymous said...

I love excerpts! The ones my favorite authors released lately have gotten me hooked! I really enjoy excerpts for this reason; there are some books that have a blah type synopsis but once you read an excerpt it just grabs you

Brooke Reviews said...

I don't like to read excerpts of a book that I plan on buying when it comes out. It ends up just driving me crazy! I think they are good for people who aren't into the author yet or series. :)

tetewa said...

I love to read excerpts as they give me some kind of an idea about the read, especially if I haven't any idea about it.

Barbarita V said...

I love advance excerpts. They help me through the long waiting until the book is finally released. It also give me an idea of what is the book about. Love excerpts

I love to read excerpts for my favorite authors, but I always get a little sad when I realise how far away the release date is.

Christine M. said...

I love being teased and spoiled, so the more I get, the better for me! Plus, it helps me remember that I'll have to buy/pre order the book. So, yeah, great incentive, for me.

Love excerpts..anticipation is so sweet. LOL, I am the most impatient person in my entire family. I really do love to read the excerpts.

I would love to read excerpt. I get to judge if the writing and the prose suit my taste. To those authors I follow, it would provide a relief from the year long waiting for the next book to come out.
