Angels' Blood Countdown: Erin McCarthy - Hard and Fast ARC

Winner: The random numbers have rolled again and the winner is: Jessica Kennedy! An email's on the way to you.

Only 4 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD! Here's what oflindentrees, one of the winners of the ARC contest, had to say about it:

With a plot so captivating as to keep me up all night to finish in a single reading, and a romance so packed with wonder, lust, a fierce protectiveness, and a scorching heat that will leave you burned, Angels’ Blood will have you addicted immediately.
And the celebrations continue. Today's giveaway is an ARC of Erin McCarthy's Hard and Fast. This is the second book in her series about hot racecar drivers. The first was Flat Out Sexy, which received great reviews around the web.

Hard and Fast releases in May and the ARC will be posted out when it's ready. Check out that sexy cover!

Today's entry question comes from Una: Do you read the next book teasers at the end of a book?

Hmm, I try to resist because I know it'll make me crazy, but sometimes I can't help it! How about you all?

I try to avoid them at all costs as I am not a patient person. Occasionally, to see who the next book is going to focus on, I will peak but mostly, No! It's better for everyone around me that way.;)

Spari said...

If it's from a book series I really like, I read them. It's difficult not to when you are so anxious to know what happens next.

Shaymless Aymless said...

Yes. Every time. Then I sit around wishing I had the next book.

Anonymous said...

I avoid them especially if it's by one of my auto buy authors. Reading teaser excerpts before a book is out is like torture!
Occasionally I peek just to see who the next charcters will be (if it's part of a series).

azteclady said...

I'm a card carrying spoiler phobic, and since I can't always know whether those snippets are from the very beginning of the book...

I avoid them as a rule.

FD said...

Yes, I do... I'm way too curious not to. lol

orannia said...

*raises hand* I do, especially if it is a favourite author. And if the author announces an online excerpt I read that as well :) I could resist the Branded by Fire excerpt (did anyone?) and then I pimped it like made :)

*SIGH* I obviously have no will power.

Anonymous said...

Yes I do, even though it frustrates the life out of me....hehe!!!

I usually peek at them... just to see who the characters will be in the next book! But I very rarely read the whole thing b/c I can't stand the tease factor!

donnas said...

I try not but sometimes I cant help but read them although I know it will make me crazy waiting for the next book.

Anonymous said...

I do. I can't help myself. Sometimes I read the teaser at the end first!

Marnie said...

Nope... I don't like to torture myself.

Brooke Reviews said...

Not usually because I'm super impatient!

Heather said...

I read them, but it usually just make me more impatient.

Anonymous said...

Yes, normally. It gives me a chance to see what the rest will be like

Chris said...

I avoid those teasers at all costs! Like lesleen, I am not patient and I don't want to be tormented.

Karin said...

I definitely read the next book teasers at the end of a book. Of course, they tend to make me really anxious for that book, but I try to be patient. Plus, it gives me something to go back and enjoy while I'm waiting for the next book to release while heightening the anticipation.

Jess (The Cozy Reader) said...

Nope. I do not read them unless I already have the next book available to read. I can't put myself through a teaser. I also find it distraction if I do read it and then start reading the actual book later on. I sit there thinking, "I already read this!" and not realizing I read the teaser. It gets me confused!

Anonymous said...

Oh, yes. Every single time. Apparently I like self torture:)

twalls said...

Squee! I just got done reading Flat Out Sexy and I can't wait to read this next installment. To answer the question, yes, I definitely read the next book teasers. I don't have that much willpower.

All’sReads said...

Oh yeah, definitely reading them. Can't help myself!

Anonymous said...

Sometimes I do read them and sometimes I don't. There is no real rhyme or reason behind it. It usually depends on how eager I am to get to my next read :D

laurawilson25 said...

Absolutely I read them. Though they usually make me crazy. I spent lots of time trying to find Hard and Fast spoilers, but it wasn't even listed on the author's website yet. Oh the frustration!

VampFanGirl said...

OMG YES! Everytime.

KT Grant said...

I read my book from beginning to end.

Darcy Jo said...

I read them every time! I try not to, but I can't help it!

Anonymous said...

Always! It drives me nuts every time because I want that new book immediately. Sometimes they don't even have a set release date which means it could be anywhere from 6 months to a year or even more before it hits the shelves!!

Heather B. said...

absolutely, although I am always sorry that i do because then I really can't wait till the next book comes out. It was that way when I read the teaser for Branded by Fire.

Heather

Lisa said...

I really really try not to but almost always break down and read them. Then I'm driven crazy because it's usually months or even almost a year I have to wait.

Lisa F. said...

I always read the book teasers. I love teasers, excerpts, and spoilers!

The Brunette Librarian said...

OH MY GOSH!! I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK IN THIS SERIES!! this would be the awesomest prize EVER!!!

I do try to read the teasers for the next book if I liked it. Sometimes I get lucky and it's already out, so it's simple to find it at the library or bookstore....or it's something fun to anticipate! :)

Anonymous said...

I usually do. If the next book is coming out really soon, I sometimes don't because I want to be completely surprised, but if it's going to be a bit of a wait, I read the teaser and drive myself crazy! :)

Anonymous said...

I always read the teasers in the back of the book however it seems to make the waiting for the book to be released sooo much longer.

Anonymous said...

I definitely read them! I'm sort of impatient though, but I greedily gobble up any teasers thrown at me!

Una said...

Yay - thanks for using my question!

Yes! I LOVE to read the teasers (as I've said in another question - I'm a glutton for punishment), especially if it is at the end of the previous book. Even if I have to go to the author's site, I HAVE to read it. I've been known to reread them in my anticipation for the next book. Trying to figure out if there is some clue or ANYTHING that can be gleaned from it while I wait.

Margay Leah Justice said...

I always read the teasers - sometimes even before I read the book they're in!
Margay

Danni T said...

Always, I really want to know who the next book is about. While reading a book I'll see different characters that I hope there is a book about and that's usually why I'm read the teasers.

Unknown said...

Favorite authors I tend to do it, I guess to torture myself.

Anonymous said...

Always! Sometimes I even reread them a few times just in case I missed something the first (or second) time around. Then I get to sit impatiently for a couple of months waiting for the book to come out.

Amy C said...

No, not usually :).

LighthouseSandy said...

Never! LOL. That's just a glorified excerpt and I go crazy when I get to the end and can't go any further!

Kammie said...

Something is always better than nothing. lol So,yes, I like to read the teasers.

Anonymous said...

Well, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. If the book I am currently reading truly interested me, I tend to torture myself by reading the teaser included at the end of the book. If the book didn't particularly impress me, chances are high that I will end up skipping it altogether. And yes, I did read the teaser to this book heh

Ashley said...

sometimes i do, depends on the book and if im in the mood

Unknown said...

I always read the teasers. Usually it doesn't bother me too much if I don't have the next book right away, but that Branded by Fire teaser has been killer since apparently that book starts off with a bang.

Anonymous said...

If it's from an author I love then I can't help myself... Particularly if it's part of an ongoing series, I'm so weak!

jeanette8042 said...

Oh definitely! I am always eager to know what the next novel will be about and it will make me eager for it even more!

Unknown said...

I love the teasers! Even though I sometimes am frothing at the mouth while waiting for the next book, it's still worth it.

Pam P said...

I do read them, like to be teased at what's coming next, especially in a series I'm following.

Kytaira said...

I try to avoid them. The reason is because when the book comes out in the store, sometimes I'm not sure if I already bought it or not if I've read the blurb to many times! I buy ALOT of books.

Unknown said...

I do, have too, got to find out what happening next. lol

Anonymous said...

I definately read them because I like to find out what is going to be happening in the next book.

Thanks,

Terri W.

Anonymous said...

I wish I could avoid them because they make me want the next one right away. But I can't help myself :D

Lori T said...

I generally do not read the book teasers at the end. I will take a quick peek to see who the characters might be...but I do not want to be pulled in and then have to wait for the book to be released. And that is like a sweet torture.

Unknown said...

A big wow for that cover ;) I usually take a peek if the teaser is from an author or about a book that I am personally not familar with, because it gives me a sense of the writing style. But if it is actually a book that I'm looking forward to, I try to avoid sneaking since I'm a terribly impatient person..

Leslie said...

I always read the excerpt from the next book, sometimes I read it first. *g*

Blodeuedd said...

It depends, sometimes I stay away from them if the book will take some time to come out. But if I know it's coming soon then I will read it :)

Bridget Locke said...

Yes, I do, which is torture, especially for an author I LOVE! Argh!

Eva S said...

Yes I do, even if I try to avoid them!

Orangebeaker said...

Yes, definitely! I like to know what's coming out in the market.

Anonymous said...

first off, I am beyond excited to see part of my review on your blog! yay!

and the answer: YES YES YES!! I always love to torture myself by reading the teaser for the next book. I have actually read the teaser for Brander by Fire about 20 times because I am most excited about that one!

Dannyfiredragon said...

Rarely, because they driving me crazy when I have to wait for long time till the book is released.

Leontine said...

I'm not a biggie on reading excerpts, often I skip them and on ocassion I read them. Usually it just leaves me hungry for more so I'll just wait for the copy to arrive on my doorstep.

Pearl said...

For me it depends on the book/author/series...
Some teasers I avoid in order to go into the coming book with a blank slate but others are too tempting and I can't resist, just to have a pre-taste.

May said...

Of course I read it. Sometime even before I started that book.

Cursing Mama said...

Of course I read them, how could I not? Of course this makes it really difficult when I finish something up and then next book isn't available yet....or in the case of the Pauline Sokol mysteries there was a teaser but there is no publisher for it.

CrystalGB said...

Yes, I do. I like to get a glimpse of what is coming next.

kim said...

Yes, I do. Then sit there frustrated that I can't finish the next book right away.

Asylumgirl said...

I try not to, unless I already have that book available to read. Otherwise, it drives me crazy with the waiting.

Mandi said...

Yes! Then I suffer the wait until the next book comes out :)

Anonymous said...

Yes, I do. But it makes it that much harder to wait especially if it's a favorite author or series.

I always read them, sometimes the waiting for the book is very, very difficult after reading it, but I can't not read it.

Anonymous said...

Usually, I do! Like I said before I LOVE/ADORE/WANT MORE spoilers/excerpts, etc it's how I make up my mind to buy a book many times.

Barbarita V said...

I can resist those and after I read then I just get impatient for the time that I have to wait.

JH said...

Always. Torture me with those teasers. I can never wait for the next book...

Shari C said...

You bet I do. I love to have a preview of what the next book will be and who the hero/heroine will be. I am usually very anxious then waiting for the book to come out

If I really liked the book I will read the teaser for the next, but it usually leaves me frustrated because it is then a long wait for the next story. Pure torture, mmm I love Erin McCarthy's new cover!

I definately do read them, especially if the next book is one that I'm really looking forward to. Because ther is usually so long before the next release.
