Angels' Blood Countdown: Ann Aguirre - Blue Diablo ARC

Winner: The random numbers have chosen the winner and it's An Again! An Again, please contact me on nalinisinghwrites AT gmail DOT com.
______________

It's 10 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD and only 4 till ANGELS'
PAWN!

Here's what Jackie at Literary Escapism had to say about ANGELS' BLOOD!
...Angels’ Blood, is phenomenal...If you’re a fan of Singh’s Psy/Changeling series, then you need to preorder this novel if you haven’t already.
Today's celebrations are going to focus around Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre! Blue Diablo releases April 7th and kicks off the Corine Solomon series.

Here's the blurb - sounds very intriguing!

Right now, I’m a redhead. I’ve been blonde and brunette as the situation requires, though an unscheduled color change usually means relocating in the middle of the night. So far, I’m doing well here. Nobody knows what I’m running from. And I’d like to keep it that way…

Eighteen months ago, Corine Solomon crossed the border to Mexico City, fleeing her past, her lover, and her “gift”. Corine, a handler, can touch something and know its history—and sometimes, its future. Using her ability, she can find the missing—and that’s why people never stop trying to find her. People like her ex, Chance…

Chance, whose uncanny luck has led him to her doorstep, needs her help. Someone dear to them both has gone missing in Laredo, Texas, and the only hope of finding her is through Corine’s gift. But their search may prove dangerous as the trail leads them into a strange dark world of demons and sorcerers, ghosts and witchcraft, zombies—and black magic…

You can check out an excerpt on Ann's site!

Today's entry question comes from Lili:
Which series would you like to see made into a movie/ tv series? And who would you choose to play the main roles?

Answer either part of the question to go into the draw!

Aguirre's book sounds really intriguing!

I'd love to see Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels made into a movie, with Sandra Bullock playing Stephanie.

I hate seeing books made into movies, generally, so I'm not offering any up. :D I'd much rather read the books and have my own mental images of all the characters and places and action.

I think JD Robb's In Death would be great as a series, if done correctly. But I can't think of anyone who could be Roarke.

Marnie said...

JD Robb in Death series.

I think Gerard Butler as Roarke and Bridget Moynahan (with short hair with highlights).

I would like to see Stephanie Meyer's The Host in a movie, starring, of course, Matt Damon as Jared, James McAvoy as Ian, and Maggie Gyllenhal as Melanie.

I could see Kay Hooper's Bishop series being made into a tv series. For the role of Noah Bishop...I don't really know. I guess I'd say Colin Firth just because I like him! :)

I would like to see Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson Series made into a movie franchise. With maybe Jessica Biel as Mercy, Clive Owen as Sam, and Daniel Craig as Adam.

Amy C said...

Anne Bishop's The Black Jewels Trilogy.
I don't keep up on who's who in the acting world.I can only hope the ones filling the roles do a good job.

Sounds awesome on Ann's book! Love them! Too excited on yours! Love this! LOL.

I wasn't sure if you were meaning about your or Ann's book into a series or any series out there. I'm not good at this since I don't watch much movies but I shall try!!

I do love Hugh Jackman (yum) and too love Nicole Kidman in her historical movies, so I think I would pick those two to be in Kathryn Smith's historical Vampire series called BROTHERHOOD OF THE BLOOD.

Caffey said...

Oops his last name is JACKMAN
See I'm not good at this, LOL

After reading Angel's Blood, I'd say the Guild Hunter series if for no other reason than I'd love to see the special effects. I already dream of Raphael. I'd love to see what they did with him.

After that it would be Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series for same reason...and the hotties of course.

And Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires, because I want younger people to remember what real vampires are. They don't sparkle and they don't play baseball.

As for who would play them I'm not sure. I like seeing how Hollywood sees the characters. They got The Southern Vampire Mystery series cast well, so I have some faith in them. Not a lot, but some.

I have to go with Anita Blake.

The Mercy books have recently been optioned for a movie- the guy who is directing Prince of Persia will behind it.

I would love to see Ann's Grimspace turned into a series- just because I think it would be a great tv series. I can see Claudia Black in Jax's role :D

I agree with Chris! Most books make really horrible movies. Too much gets lost.

Well for me, my book actually was made into a movie. Had been wanting it for years and they did a really bang up job too! Peter Jackson did a fabulous job on the Lord of the Rings. And the casting was great!

I would love to see a Stephanie Plum Tv series, even if there are no actors who can resemblance the ones in my mind.

Katie said...

I can't say having most of the books I read made into TV series or movies would be a good thing. They would probably screw it up.

BUT if I had to pick one, it would be intersting to see what could be done with Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series. There is a lot of great plots there.

I could see Anne Hathaway or Charisma Carpenter as Joanne.

Thanks!
Katie

Ooh, looks good! I haven't read this author yet, but I've heard some great things. Fun question, too. I just finished re-reading the three books in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series (two more to go, can't wait for them to be released!), so it's on my brain. I heard it's been optioned, so I'd love to see it brought to life somehow. I want Kristin Bell to play Mac and Gerard butler to plays Jericho Barrons. *sigh* It would be perfect.

Anonymous said...

tough one. I'd be all over a Grimspace movie, or a movie extension of the Dresden Files series.

I actually like it when movies and TV shows don't stick to the books. I like to think of them as derivative works, expanding the worlds and characters in their own way instead of just reiterating the books.

Nicola O. said...

I don't know if any one book would work as a movie, but I'd love to see an action/adventure style movie set in the Black Dagger Brotherhood universe. The scene where they turn Butch is incredibly cinematic to me.

I could speculate on who should play whom for a really long time... I'll just say that they'll probably need Lord of the Rings style effects to get the boys' larger-than-life physiques down right. ;)

Ann Aguirre said...

Wow, this is so cool.

Thanks for saying that about Jax, Has. I could so see Claudia playing her.

As for what book series I'd like to see made into a TV show or a film, I think Jordan Summers' Red books would make a totally kick-ass post-apoc film. Her world is really intriguing.

Mandi said...

Anita Blake is the first series that comes to mind...I have no idea who I would pick to play the characters. That is the problem..I think I would rather not have the books made into movies/tv. Much better played out in my mind :)

Rylie said...

I'm the same as Chris -- I'm generally not into seeing movie adaptations of books. I'm fine with my own mental images of what I'm reading.

While I think it would be really cool to see some of my favourite series made into tv shows/movies, current remakes usually don't cut if for me. So I'm not sure I would choose any because I would hate for them to ruin the image of the series that I have now.

Anonymous said...

I'd love to see Patricia Briggs's Raven novels as movies, although I think I'd prefer a bunch of unknowns in the roles rather than movie stars who are already established.

Donna said...

I usually don't like the movies or t.v. shows that were books first. But in spirit of the question asked, I would offer up Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. Not sure about actors but maybe Orlando Bloom as Kyrian & Gerard Bulter as Acheron?

Kerry said...

My choices have already been mentioned - the Black Jewels books and the J. D. Robb books.

I am totally NOT a visual person, so I'm afraid I can't suggest any actors.

Lisa said...

I would like to see MaryJanice Davidson Queen Betsy series turned into an TV series. Maybe on cable so can explore more and I think Reese Witherspoon would make great Betsy.

Erika Powell said...

The Alphabet Series by Sue Grafton for sure. Kinsey Millhone is amazing

Lora Leigh's Breed series

Ann Aguirre's book sound very good.

Hmmm, I'm not massively keen on books being made into movies. Movies can never encompass the book as well as your imagination can. And I always compare the actor/actress to the character and come up wanting.. Saying that, Peter Jackson and the cast did an absolutely AMAZING job with LOTR!

Lori T said...

I would love to see Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series made into a movie or tv series...but for the life of me I cannot think who would play her amazing characters.

Ann Aguirre is an amazing author and I love her work. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

donnas said...

I would love to see JD Robb's In Death series made into movies or a TV show. But I dont know who I would want to play the leads.

Pam P said...

Love the premise for the new series, Ann.

I agree Grimspace could make a good series, not sure who'd I'd pick for the starring roles. I, also, agree, though, often the movie/show is as good as the book, especially action-paced ones they can only convey so much of the excitment you get in the books.

Anonymous said...

I also worry about beloved books being made into a TV series, but I guess I would trust the series if it were written and produced by Joss Whedon. :)
I think the Carrie Vaughn "Kitty" books would be fun as a series, but I'm not sure who should play Kitty. Maybe Kristen Bell?

Leslie said...

Love Aguirre's work. Jax is such a great female lead. Jax reminds me of Starbuck/Kara Thrace from BSG. Can't wait to read the Corine Solomon series.

As for a series into a movie I'd love to see C. L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series as movies. It would have to be something along the lines of The Lord of the Rings movies to do it justice. Have no idea who would play what parts but I am partial to Clive Owen. :)

Anonymous said...

I suggested this question and it took me a long time to come up with an answer (lol). I would really like to see the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman. I can't really think of any actors, but they'd have to be on the younger side.

tetewa said...

Definately would love to see Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series on TV or movies.

Renee said...

I love Ann Aguirre's Jax series!

Lili: I've thought about casting for Cal, and I think Cillian Murphy would make a great Cal.

I'd want to see Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series made into a movie. Especially the first book, Bitten.
I picture Elena really clearly in my head, so I don't know whom I'd cast.

LighthouseSandy said...

Well, I usually hate to see a series of books made into movies because directors never choose someone good enough to play the leads -- and I'm not good at that either. But I'd love to see Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series on the big screen. I know I'd never be happy with who they'd get to play Jamie, tho. And I have no earthly idea myself!

Michelle Olsen Sasak said...

I'd like to see Richelle Mead's succubus series made into a movie. Isla Fisher would be a good Georgina. Also Edward Norton as Seth, Ryan Philippe as Carter, and John Cusack as Jerome (that one's a given!).

gawain said...

Anita Blake would be my favorite. But then how to cast it hmmmm.Maybe I don't want it after all. Now I can picture the characters in my head. I was not happy with the choices for the male leads in True Blood for example.

May said...

I would like to see J.D. Robb's In Death Series but really do not know who could play Roarke.

Anonymous said...

Ohhh, that is a tough question. There are so many series that I would love to see out there. The Black Jewels by Anne Bishop, The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, The Jax series by Ann Aguirre, Ravenous by Sharon Ashwood, of course the Psy/Changeling Series and the Guild Hunter Series, Eve and Rourke, Hotel Transylvania by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Mercy Thompson by Briggs (which has been optioned), The House of Night by the Ladies Cast (which has been optioned), Enchanted Inc. by Shanna Swendon (which has been optioned), The Truth About Forever and Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen. But I have to be honest, the movies or shows wouldn't hold a candle to the books!

Anonymous said...

Books made into movies are normally not my style, the images I have while reading a book are never the same in the movie.

The only series I can imagine as a movie or tv serie are the Stephanie Plum books. The lead actors would be Antonio Banderas as Ranger, Sandra Bullock as Stephanie and I'm still undecided about Morelli.

JR Ward's Blackdagger Brotherhood, but it would be find the perfect cast for the movies

Danni T said...

I don't think I would care for the books that I've read to be made into movies/series. It would have to be a book that I haven't read. I can't stand to watch a show that's made from a book I've read because the whole time, I keep complaining and finding fault with the show. Example: Lord of the Rings leaving out Tom Bombadil. Hello BIG part of the book. Drives me nuts!!

Brooke Reviews said...

Kim Harrison's Hollows as a TV Series would probably make my life complete.

Jenny Girl said...

I'm not sure what series to pick, because like a lot of other commenters, lately the books-to-movie hasn't been done well in my opinion. And if it's a T.V. movie, it seems to be completly stinky. I would hate to have another book I enjoy turned into a crappy movie.

Anonymous said...

Ask a hard one why dont you - lol.

There are a couple of series I'd like to see as either a tv or movie.

The In Death Series by Robb of course. The ONLY person I can think of that MIGHT have worked as Roarke was a younger Pierce Brosnan, who today - no idea, same with Eve, no idea.

Another series would be the FBI series by Kay Hooper with Noah Bishop, again no idea who would play the parts.

Ann Aguirre said...

I forgot one. I think Louise's Cooper's Indigo series would make a lovely set of films.

Angela Magee said...

As soon as I finished reading Aquirre's Wanderlust, I started producing the fantasy of a TV series in my head. No casting picks, but I was working on how to get Grimspace into the hands of the right people and forming the pitch before I remembered that wasn't my job!

Anonymous said...

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series :-) But I've no idea who would play the title roles.

Blodeuedd said...

I would love, love to see J.R.Wards BDB made into a series, and my most beloved The wheel of Time by Robert Jordan...oh and a bunch more, but dunni if they could em made justice

Cathy M said...

Currently reading the Eileen Wilks paranormal series with Lily Yu, that would make a great movie. I could see Lucy Liu and Scott Speedman in the leads.

CrystalGB said...

tMy choices would be Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters and Lara Adrians Breed series.

Lisa F. said...

I would love to have JD Robb's In Death series.

Kammie said...

I'd like to see the Wilde series by Janelle Denison made into a movie

Pamk said...

Patricia Briggs Mercy books, Lora Leigh's Breeds, or you psy/changeling series. any of those would be fantastic.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Chris; I'd rather not have movies made into movies because I don't think they'll do it that well...

Sweet said...

I really wouldn't want any of my favorites series made into a TV show or movie. I don't think seeing it on the screen would ever live up, to whats in my imagination.

Anonymous said...

I'd love to see any of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books turned into movies. I think Wentworth Miller would be a stunning Zsadist.

At the same time, though, sometimes movie adaptations ruin the books for me.

felinewyvern said...

I agree on a lot of the previous mentioned series' making great films but I would personally love to see Sirantha Jax as a TV series.
Or of course both the Dark Hunters and The Carpathians could be great as either TV series or Movies :D

Noideas on actors for either as I a mterrible at remebering names of people unless they write books :D
