Good News & Friday Book Club

Some exciting news - Angels' Blood is #1 on the Amazon Editor's Picks for Romance in 2009!! Go Elena and Raphael :-)

I was interviewed by the fabulous Jennifer Ashley and the interview is now live at The Chatelaines.

Oh, and I've threatened Jill Myles with revenge over here.

Today's Friday Book Club comes courtesy of a very sleepy Nalini. I stayed up wayyyyyyyyy past my bedtime reading Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase.

The book was literally put into my hands when I admitted I hadn't read it - by parties who shall remain nameless (you know who you are), and I was ordered to rectify my mistake at once. At once!

I still wasn't convinced as I'm not a huge historical reader. Then I read the first page and knew I was a goner.

This book was so good, I feel compelled to find people with whom to discuss it. Dain was a perfect Beast of a hero, and Jessica was completely awesome - smart, funny, determined, and with enough grit that you know she's never ever going to crumble against Dain's personality. For those of you who've read it, one of my favorite parts was the "emptying of the bag" scene.

The best part about coming late to the party? I now have lots and lots of Loretta Chase books to catch up on. You can read an excerpt and the back cover blurb of Lord of Scoundrels on Ms. Chase's website.

What are you reading and loving this week? Thoughts to share? (p.s. If you've read LOS, what's your favorite part?)

Nalini - is this meant to be your book club post? It's gone walkabout!

I'll assume that it is and say that I'm currently reading Tamora Pierce's Bloodhound (YA fantasy), which I hope to finish today. And tomorow I'm picking up Blaze of Memory! *happy dance*

Have a great weekend everyone!

Yes it was! I pushed something and it published before I actually had any words on the page. Should be showing a post now!

I am so not a historical reader but everyone I know raves about Loretta Chase. I picked up Lord of Scoundrels and have tried reading it. I made it a couple chapters and put it down because I was so bored. I still haven't decided if I'll attempt it again.

That was funny and I had to comment, can't wait to see what you do Nalini!

I missed last week so to recap. I read Gena Showalter's new YA novel Intertwined and loved it. I just finished Maggie Stiefvater's first book in the "Books of Faerie" series called Lament and enjoyed that as well. Now I am reading Immortal, a collection of short stories by YA authors, all with vampires!

Sadly, I haven't been able to go by and get my copy of BoM yet which is on hold at my bookstore. However, no one will keep me from the store today...oh no, I must have Dev today! Especially after reading the excerpt from Max's book.

Am planning on starting Blaze of Memory this weekend :).

For now, finishing up on Tempted (Young Adult). Its a pretty good read.

As for Lord of Scoundrels - love that book. I thought that Dain and Jessica had sizzling chemistry.

I've been sick all week so still reading Big bad wolf by Christine Warren, loving it; then it's on to your book Nalini

Congrats on being #1 and Amazon. :D
That Raphael... naughty boy.

I heart LOS as you well know. Dain and Jess are one of my favorite romance couples of all time.

Oh, I LOVE Lord of Scoundrels! :)

I recommend Secrets of a Summer's Night by Lisa Kleypas (if you haven't read it yet). I find some definite similarities between it and North and South...*sigh* Richard Armitage. Yum!

I've read Tempted by PC & Kristin Cast, Winter Kiss by Deborah Cooke, reread Big Bad Wolf by Christine Warren, and the new e-book by Katie Allen.

I'm also suffering from a nasty cold. I love my nephews, but they get me sick more than anyone else. Ugh!

Ha! My verification word is mockinis! *snicker*

My favourite part? When Dain removes the glove. I remember the moment I read it: felt like being struck by lightning!

I am reading a YA, The Dust of 100 Dogs about a pirate girl who is cursed to live 100 lives as a dog before being human again.

Guess what came in the mail today?? Squeeeee! My copy of Blaze of Memory!! Yay! This week I read Wild Blue Under by Judi Fennell, great series about Mermaid etc. And I also finally found a copy of Wild at Heart by Patricia Gaffney, after you recommendation about it. Saving it for Xmas Holiday reading.

I received and finished Blaze of Memory yesterday (or actually last night). Loved it! I'm glad that I have flexible working hours, otherwise today would be a very difficult working day.

I also read an anthology with books about sports heroes this week, Hot Ticket. It made me curious about a couple of books from Deirdre Martin.

Currently reading What a Dragon Should know by G.A. Aiken (aka Shelly Laurenston)

I really enjoy this authors books! So many laugh out loud moments! It's great :)

I love LOS. One my favorite parts is when Jessica "submits" to Dain. She agrees to everything he says, no matter how stupid. Even in bed, she is still willing but Dain senses an emotional disconnect. Throughout it all, we get Dain's POV so we see his growing frustation and his despair that he might be losing her but he just is afraid to do what he needs to do to keep her (trying to avoid spoilers here).
I was teary-eyed when he begs her not to leave him.

Hi Nalini!

I really love your Friday Book Club, it introduces me to lots of interesting authors I don't know and it's a great means to feed my addiction for books...

I haven't read Ms Chase's Lord Of Scoundrels but maybe I'll pick it up for this week end.
This last week, I've been busy reading 'cause it was raining, it's still cold and there was a fire in the fireplace... that's why it's my very favorite time of the year!
So, I've read Blaze of Memory (of course!): fantastic book, captivating plot and I can't wait for the next one.
I've also read Maria V. Snyder's Yelena Zaltana trilogy (Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study) and her first two installments of the Glass Series (Sorm Glass and Sea Glass): all five take place in the same world and are full of interesting twists and unexpected romance. I loved them and advise you to have a taste of the first one (Poison Study): I'm telling you, you'll be addicted!

This week end I'm planning to reread (again) Ann Aguirre's Sirantha Jax series and probably one of Anne Bishop's books depending on my mood...

Have fun this week end.
Oh and congrats for Angel's Blood, Nalini!

LoS seems to be a book, if I need something to laugh. (I`ll add it on my amazon wish list. - Thank`s for this recommendation Nalini).

Recently I reread "The Ball" by Nemirovsky Irene and "After the Night" by Linda Howard. Yesterday I finished "Broken" by Kelley Armstrong and I start reading BoM today.

@the sick: Get well soon!

I've adored Lord of Scoundrels since it was first published. I reread it at least once a year. Some of my favorite scenes are Dain kissing Jessica in the rain and Jessica's account of it afterwards to her grandmother. And by the way, what a wonderful grandmother! You have to read The Last Hellion next! That's another classic.

I'm not one for historicals, either, but this isn't the first time someone like that has told me LOS was great. I'll have to check out my local UBS for it.

This week, I read Blaze of Memory and loved it. Not my favorite book in the series because I missed the changelings a lot, but I loved the book all on its own. I'm looking forward to learning about the J Psy in Max's book, but I'm glad we're back with the wolves after that. :)

I'm also reading a great free MM romance read called Stonegate Stables by Gabriel Morgan at a hosting site called Gay Authors. It features an ensemble cast but is written in the first person POV of the owner of the title stables and the author is pulling it off pretty well. I'm enjoying it.

Oh, Nalini, that is a good book! And a big congrats on 'Angel's Blood'!
I'm currently reading Elizabeth Boyle's "Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress" It's really good!
And waiting with batted breath for BOM to be delivered!

I love Loretta Chase! I admit a few of her books don't work for me, but more often than not I find her novels very entertaining. I haven't read Lord of Scoundrels. I can't find it anywhere. I have heard a lot of good things about it though so I guess I'll have to see if I can get it on my Kindle.

I think you should try Mr. Impossible next. It's my favorite Loretta Chase book. Rupert is a hoot and an half. He cracks me up every time. I love how he acts like an idiot but he's really very clever. Also, he respects Daphne's intellegience and is very supportive of her. Out of all the romance types out there, I think Rupert is the type I'd actually want in real life.

I've been down with some sinus crud all week and have been able to read a lot. In addition to Blaze of Memory, I've been reading Katie MacAlister's 3rd Silver Dragon Book, Me & My Shadow, and all of Lora Leigh's Breed series books. Firewoman55

As to Angles Blood, cognates! I've loved this book since I first picked it up. In fact I published a review on my blog page. (See http://bookreviewbyfkb.blogspot.com)

I saw that Amazon pick - Congratulations! I can't wait to read it!!

Also, I had to laugh at the historicals thing - I came late to them too, and it's a delicious buffet all waiting for you!

Just finished reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Acheron. I'm also waiting for Blaze of Memory to ship :(

Congratulations on being Number 1. That was one book that surprised me with just how very, very good it was. I mean sexy, very bad boy, naughty, kinda selfish Angels with orgasmic wings, whodathunkit. Loved that book and can't wait for the continuation of their story, cause I reckon it will be one rocky road.

Just spent the weekend with Blaze of Memory ... whew, emotional roller coaster ride that was wonderful. Gorgeous book.

Lord of Scoundrels together with Ransom by Julie Garwood are my go to books for when I feel crappy and sick and just want to curl up in bed, smile and get that warm feeling inside.

It is :) While I enjoyed Lord of Scoundrels, my favourite Loretta Chase book is still Knave's Wager!

I read Lord of scoundrels and have to say that its Loretta Chase's finer books... :D
Btw, i loved BoM... it was an emotional scorcher.
I'm currently re-reading devil's cub by Georgette Heyer and plan to read Smoke thief by Shana Abe...
