Party Post 7: Annette Blair

Author Annette Blair took a twenty-year roller-coaster ride to overnight success. Yes, her tenacity is legendary, though some just call her stubborn. Her latest release, THE SCOT, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE is a December 2006 release. www.annetteblair.com

Dear Friends,

Christmas always comes early at my house—a legacy from my mother. The season is enough. I even like Christmas commercials. But TV Christmas stories are my favorite. I tape and watch every one. I collect Christmas movies: favorites are Meet Me in St. Louis, Miracle on 34th Street—with Dylan McDermott, of course—the Bishop’s Wife, The Gift of Love, and Love Actually. I collect Christmas romance novels to re-read yearly at Christmas, especially Mary Balogh’s Playing House. I got my first job at Christmas in a department store as a salesgirl in the toy department. I loved it.

I even started my family at Christmas—December 13th—and beneath our tree that year was a cradle with our baby girl in it. Can you think of a better gift? When she was five, at a Christmas service, she whispered, "This is it! The Christmas Spirit. It's here!"

Over the years, Christmas included delivering food baskets and toys to the needy, which taught me to appreciate my gifts all year round. Writing is a gift for which I am daily grateful. Who knew I’d end up writing about Witches? What fun! This season, whatever holiday you celebrate, let me wish you the best of the best, kisses beneath the mistletoe, a snuggle by the fire, joy the year round, a life of happy endings, and long hours of reading pleasure.

Blessed Be! Happy Holidays! Merry Merry!

I'm giving away a signed copy of my December release, The Scot, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, with a pair of lucky witch socks, the kind I wear when I write.

Tell me what celebrities you think would make the best looking heroes, to be in to win!

Annette Blair

Brad Pitt! I might not like him as much as I used to but yeah, he's hot. So is Rodrigo Santoro, the new guy in lost who was in the chanel commercial with Nicole Kidman - that commercial is like a romance novel that never happened. And also Eduardo Verastegui, this mexican actor who was on Chasing Papi. Sigh. I think there's more but so far that's it!

Michael T. Weiss. He was a very good reason to watch Pretender. And let's not forget David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel and Bones).

Hugh Jackman, Patrick Duffy, George Clooney, Mark Harmon.
There are more but I won't be greedy ;-)

I e-mailed you when I lived in CT. Now I live in RI and I've been meaning to get in touch with you. I've seen your new book in a couple of blogs and I can't wait to read it! I love the WITCH books. Your new cover is awesome!

Celebs that would make good heros:
Alan Cumming, Benjamin Bratt, Michael C. Hall, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Feuerstein, Edward Burns, Val Kilmer, Sean Bean - I'm with ya, Nalini. I love him! And Jason Isaacs (played Lucius Malfoy) yea, Annie, I love him too!

Brad Pitt's the universal choice, I suppose. I'd also nominate - Hugh Jackman, the guys who play the characters of Jack and Sawyer in the serial 'Lost', the new James Bond, Antonio Banderas, Clooney etc.

I am looking forward to reading your book Annette!!!

Here are some celebs that I think would be good heroes: Mark Collier (Mike on As the World Turns), Paul Leyden (Simon on As the World Turns), Josh Lucas, Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen, Matthew McConaughey, Adrian Paul, Christian Bale, etc.

And don't throw anything at me, but Brad Pitt has never really appealled to me...hmmm.

Matthew M., Ben Browder, Mark Harmon, Leonardo (he looks great in his new movie) and Brad

No way, Jennifer y - I've never fancied Brad Pitt either (actually I did in Thelma nad Loiuse but that was before he was "Brad Pitt" ). He's too skinny. Give me a man with a bit of bulk any day.

I'm not good with names of actors... I don't watch TV and I rarely go to the cinema, so I don't know who to pick!

Anyway, do you think I have a chance to win Annette? Or is it like all the other draws where there are rules agains family members from entering?

Jac.
a.k.a. Froggie

I'm really looking forward to reading the last Witch story, as I mentionned to you the second was better than the first and I'm thinking this third one is going to outshine the second!

So many great actors but I have to add my own two cents in anyhow. My picks are Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington, Skeet Ulrich and Joaquin Phoenix. Happy Holidays everyone!

Wow, you are all wonderful in your choices. I guess Hugh Jackman is a universal pick. He's the model for my Scot, in THE SCOT, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE shipping from B & N, due on Dec 5th. Another early Christmas Present!

Mel J, email me through my website so we can get together for lunch. So glad you're around. Rhode Island Romance Writers is awesome, btw.

Jac, no rule against family members, I'll put your name in the box, but if you win, I'll pick a second winner. (Jaclyne is a Canadian cousin I've never met. Her mother used to babysit me. There's a picture of me when I was a year old, with Jac's mother, on my website author page.)

Matthew McConaughey, Colin Firth, Hugh Laurie (Amy, LOL at the hand-feeding him Vicodin), George Clooney are also yummers. I can't believe no one picked Patrick Dempsey. Swoon.

Pam P happy birthday to your nephew on the 13th. Was he also born on Friday the 13th by any chance. :) We always made a point of separating her birthday from Christmas, but then for many years, she got a Christmas nightgown and robe on her birthday and a craft kit for making Christmas decorations, both of which she adored. She's an adult, but if I put a Christmas nightgown in the mail for her birthday, she becomes a kid again.

We also have little ones whose birthdays are Nov 21st and Dec 2nd, so yes, we always start celebrating Christmas early.

Nalini, I loved the picture you posted, but I don't recognize him. LOL. I'm going to get my nose away from my writing and find out who some of these men are. Hey, it's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it. Thank you all for your wonderful answers. I really wanted a whole new set of faces to choose from and you gave me a great many.

Okay, since I can't print this page without crashing my computer, I'm going to hand write them and do some picking. Come back in a little while for the winner.

Drum roll please . . . He, he, he!

Okay, I figured out that I could cut and paste your answers to a word file, print them out and cut them with my papercutter. Then I folded each, put them in a covered box and took them out to the garage for my real life hero to pick a lucky winner.

And the winner is:

AmyS whose answer was Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale.

Congratulations, AmyS. Email me via my website: www.annetteblair.com to give me your mailing addy.

Peace & Merry Merry!

Hugs,

Annette
