Quirks & Odd Habits

I'm ready to begin the second draft of Caressed By Ice, which in my case, means putting together the jigsaw of scenes I wrote for draft 1 into some sort of correct order. I don't always write sequentially so this is normal for me though it does strike others as somewhat odd.

I'm curious - if you're a writer, what's your writing quirk? And if you're a reader, where's the oddest place you've ever read a book?

Sounds fun. But now I have to ask - how old were you? *g*

Writing quirks?

Well, if you're talking about how I write, then it's that I don't just write. I'll be doing other things at the same time. I can't write any other way.

I don't think I have any writing quirks except for the fact that I have to do the first draft long hand which I HATE. The words don't come nearly as easily on the computer, though.

As for odd places reading books - the house where I grew up had an overhang over the driveway - maybe 3 feet wide - I used to sit out there and read in the rain.

Would zoning out be considered a quirk? Half the time, I have no idea what I've written and have to re-read before I can start work the next day. Sometimes, this leads to, wow, that was pretty good, moments. Other times... I have to wonder if someone is putting something in my morning diet Dr. Pepper.

Writing quirks????

Candles and music... works especially when I am having some blockhead moments.

Milady - do you mean you listen to music, watch tv? Do you do that even when editing or doing other writing related tasks that require more concentration?

Emma - how funny - I LOVE writing longhand, feeling the paper under my pen.

And that overhang sounds dangerous. How did you get up there?

LOL Heather - I've had moments like that. Sometimes it's a nice surprise to read something and go "I wrote that? Cool!"
