Why is that we always turn into children when we come to stay with our parents? Is this phenomenon isolated to me? Or have others experienced it? Come on, share. Promise I won't tell your parents ;)
I think it is normal but this phenomenon usually stops once you have your own kids and become parents yourself. Because at that time you are not at your parents anymore but you are at "Gran's". You tell your kids "Let's go to my mum's house". You tell them "Let's go to Grand Ma's house."
Also I think childhood is the safest we've all ever felt. We do not know what is happening in the outside world. So to "turn into children" or "get into fetal position" is a way for people to shut down the worries of the outside world and adulthood.
Hey, Nalini. I like being "the kid" sometimes when I'm at my mum's house. Because I'm so often the one doing, saying, making decisions in my own home, with my own kids, I like that I can be taken under the maternal wing, too.
Hi Nalini. My first time by your blog. We met in NYC at National at the Lit Signing. I was standing in line with Trish Morey about to pass out because I was so hot and hungry. I seem to meet a new Kiwi at National each year. You, then Tessa last year, then Karina this year.
