Dark Desires After Dusk - Kresley Cole

I came late to this series (The Immortals After Dark) and I tell you, I'm hooked! I'm also reading them completely out of order - but I couldn't resist Cade. He's rough, he's tough, and he's completely gorgeous. Talk about "lickable horns." *grin*

Here's the blurb (from Amazon):

RITA Award-winning author Kresley Cole continues her bestselling Immortals After Dark series with this electrifying tale of a ruthless demon mercenary and the lovely young halfling who enchants him.

A seductive beauty he can never have, yet can't resist...

Cadeon Woede will stop at nothing to atone for the one wrong that will haunt him forever. But once he secures the key to his redemption, the halfling Holly Ashwin, Cade finds that the woman he thought he could use for his own ends and then forget haunts him as much as his past.

A tormented warrior she should fear, but can't deny...

Raised as a human, Holly never knew that some frightening legends are real until she encounters a brutal demon who inexplicably guards her like a treasure. Thrust into a sensual new world of myth and power, with him as her protector, she begins to crave the demon's wicked touch.

Surrender to dark desires...

Yet just when he earns Holly's trust, will Cade be forced to betray the only woman who can sate his wildest needs -- and claim his heart?
Janet at Dear Author did a much more in-depth review here. And you can read an excerpt from the book at Kresley Cole's website.

So, who else is loving this series? Favorite books? And since it's the weekend, what're you all up to?

Yep, I'm a big fan of this series also. This summer when she had two back to back, I kept wanting to go back for another.

Another series I'm enjoying is C.L. Wilson's 'Lord of the Fading Lands' and 'Lady of Light and Shadow'. The third in the series is due out in a couple of weeks and I got an ARC so I can be part of the "buzz" crew to promote the series, so if you haven't read her yet, run to your nearest bookseller and pick these up! Like Nalini, she's wonderful at creating characters that you just can't help but fall in love with or want to be best friends with or just want to be part of their world.

I am half in love with Kresley Cole. This series is awesome!!! Cade is also one of my favorites. What am I saying? They all are. Sebastian. And Conrad. Oh, Conrad. I love them all. :)

I'm so glad you're enjoying this book. Wasn't Kresley just so incredibly nice? You were too. :D

My favorite charater is Nix though. She's just insanely wonderful!

Oh, I *heart* this series! Cadeon is definitely a total hottie. In fact, I chose him as one of the 7 heroes I would want on a desert island. Something about him just make me go...yum! :)

What a coincidence - I'm currently re-reading this series! (I have to do something to occupy my time until I get my hands on a certain book. *g*)

I love Lykae males. LOVE them, I tell you. But as much as Bowen and Lachlain do it for me in a big way, I have a huge soft spot for Conrad. Who knew a crazy vampire could be so delicious? Neomi is the perfect heroine, too, I absolutely adore her.

I love Nix too - I hope she gets her own story. I wanna know what Ever Knowing Nix will do when she meets her man...will she see it coming? Hmm.

And Rydstrom....oh my. I can't wait for Kiss of a Demon King to be released.

Alright, that's enough gushing from me. I'm off to finish mah book.

Yup, I've been reading this one since the beginning and for an unpatient soul like myself, that has not been easy. I wanted Rydstrom's story to come out immediately. And the third vampire brother along with his Ice maiden... That one has been tormenting me for like ever. And what about Lucia and her Lykae?

You know, I spend a lot of my time whining about books not out yet, don't I? Well, you make sure to read all the books, Nalini. They're excellent!

Reading out of order? 0_0

No can do--no, really, can't.

I have them all somewhere in the TBR Mountain Range, and I'm hoping for a few days without deadlines to glom them

Weekend plans include hoping it stops raining long enough for me to pick up all the plant debris from around the house (TS Fay = the house guest from hell) and try to save my poor, half-uprooted avocado tree.

Nothing major, really

Have a great weekend!

I love the IAD series, Nalini! Kresley cole is my favorite author tied with you. You both have such awesome series (and like to keep me in suspense with so much time between novels).

If you have time to reread them in order, I would suggest doing so. The way she expands on the lore in each book (like your background prologues on the Psy world) is fascinating.

Can't wait for Hostage to Pleasure and Kiss of a Demon King

Weird...my post from yesterday must have been eaten... I can't wait for the next CL Wilson book... I have to say though, I've never read a Kresley Cole book. I'm not sure why... Are they worth it (probably a stupid question :) and do I need to read them in order *ducks*

For some reason I am currently only reading one series - the In Death (JD Robb) books. I'm on Creation In Death, which means I have almost caught up *sob sob* Then I get my hands on HTP *evil grin*

The beauty of working in a library is that your co-workers are invaluable sources of new series or singly titles...i.e. someone recommended this series about a year ago and I have really enjoyed it.

Nalini - have you read the Twilight series? More YA less romance, but that's my genre. If not, give it a try :)

Recently read the whole series (in order, LOL, except for the short) and while the vampires are pretty good, and the Lykae are delicious, Cade REALLY does it for me. I love his smart-ass voice (among other things, LOL) and his parting line about his brother was priceless. Say this for KC, she sure knows how to whet the appetite for the next book.

I love this series. Can't wait for the next Kresely Cole book. Rydstrom's book is going to be interesting. Nucking Futs Nix is the best!!

I just started reading Gena Showalter's - Lords of the Underworld series. Very nice but very tortured.
