Friday Book Club

Time to talk books! I'm currently reading an upcoming release for a possible cover blurb and really enjoying it. (Will post more about it once I'm done.)

What're you reading and loving this week?

I'm nearly finished with Kresley Cole's latest IAD "Demon from the Dark." It's quite character-driven and a set-up for things to come (battle of the factions). Anyway, a highly entertaining read.

Ohhh. *keeps eyes peeled*

I'm currently reading Robyn Carr's Temptation Ridge. While I enjoyed the earlier books, I am having *thinks how to word sentence* ...a number of significant (IMHO) issues with this particular installment.

On the plus side, I have a copy of Ginn Hale's Lord of the White Hell waiting for me at home :)

I'm reading Purity in Death. Next up is either Sin Undone or Demon from the Dark. I've also been feeling the overwhelming urge to skim through Branded by Fire to read Hawke and Sienna scenes. Not for any particular reason. *cough* tee hee

I just finished Mockingjay, it was pretty amazing. I liked the way it ended, though somethings happened getting right to that point that I thought were too pat and easily passed over. But it is 1st person pretty narrow, so one really knows only what Katniss knows and cares about. I also read Demon after Dark, which I liked quite a bit. Not sure what to read now. Maybe go back and reread Catching Fire and hunger games.

I just started Embers by Laura Bickle. I really like it so far.
Sparks comes out next week. I hate to wait for the next in the series. I mean really can't authors write faster??? ;)

Just finished Demon Night by Meljean Brook. I really like her Guardian series, great wordbuilding and a very interesting story. I am starting Demons Not Included by Cheyenne McCray.

Also rereading Psy/Changeling series in celebration of Play of Passion!

I am reading archangel's kiss for nearly a week now. It's amazing that it lasts so long, but I am on language holiday with my younger sister in England and she needs a lot of attention. But I have to say I enjoy the book and it's good to have it longer! : )

Just finished Demon from the dark, next up should be Christine Warren's Born to be wild or CHristine Feehan's Street game

I agree with Diane P, I wish certain authors would write faster. Yet sometimes it isn't the writers fault. They may write a lot of books fast however they have to wait for the publisher to publish them. For example from everything I have read the Eve Dallas IN DEATH series by JD Robb (AKA Nora Roberts) got started because she had such a backlog of books written that the publishers couldn't keep up unless they just published her LOL. She started the IN DEATH series to fill the time and get a new outlet

Oh I forgot, I meant to also say that I am rereading the over 30 books in the Luis Mendoza series while I wait for next weeks releases by Jayne Ann Krentz, Lynsay Sands and Christine Feehan.
I also just got the new Temperance Brennan novel by Reich

Currently reading The Darkest Lie and I thought Gideon's reverse speech was going to bother me but its so well written that I'm enjoying it

Read Sin Undone by Larissa Ione. It was really good. I am currently reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and I plane to start Demon from the Dark By Kresley Cole tommorrow.

@ Jasmin
I also thought Gideon's book would get on my nerves because of his reverse speak, but I agree it was very well written and a great book!

I didn't know Kresley Cole's new one was out. It's a good thing I was heading to the book store anyway.

I just finished Jacquelyn Frank's "Hunting Julian". I hadn't read any of her stuff before and I really liked it.

I just finished "Monkingjay" by Suzanne Collins. It's the final book in a the Hunger Games Trilogy. Very good series. Involves a dystopian earth, war, politics, action, adventure, and romance. All the ingredients for a great story! I have mixed feelings about "Mockingjay", but I may be too close to it right now, emotionally. It was devastating, actually. But all in all, I love this series! You should give it a try. :) (And if you like this series, you should try "Battle Royale" by Koushun Takami).

Finished Sin Undone. Loved it.

I've been reading and enjoying a few m/m short stories by Stephani Hecht.

Next up will be Nalini's Bonds of Justice and Cynthia Eden's I'll Be Slaying You.

I'm really excited about the fact that several Julie Garwood's historical books are finally being released as eBooks, I will be buying them as soon as they become available - as long as geographical restrictions don't stop me from purchasing them!

I have been reading the Guardian series by Meljean Brook, but have been a little behind. I just finished 'Demon Forged' and cried at the end. Her writing is so descriptive and so well-crafted that I can imagine myself in her world. I am now on to 'Demon Blood,' the next in the series.
