2023 was mostly a year of rereads (Nalini's books (a yearly ritual tbh), Ilona Andrews and Kresley Cole), but I've also managed to read Patricia Briggs (I was familiar with some of her books, but not all of them). CL Wilson's The Winter King was outstanding, and I really enjoyed Ruby Dixon's Aspect and Anchor series.
Happy New Year, everyone! May 2024 brings joy and laughter and many amazing books.
I read books from established series I've been following for years, mostly. Ilona Andrews, Nalini (of course), Michelle Sagara, Patricia Briggs, but I've been hunting for new authors to follow limited by my budget, some clicked, some didn't; but I practically inhaled Fourth Wing and Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros in the last 2 days, and am currently immersed in Daindreth's Assassin by Elizabeth Whatley. There were several compilation books I bought, Songs of Valor, Keen Edge of Valor, and Instinct: An Animal Rescuers Anthology. I also read the Britney Spears autobiography.
I tried again to get into A Song of Ice and Fire, idk why I keep bouncing off that even though I find the worldbuilding as represented outside the series fascinating. I also tried to read American God's again and still couldn't get into it, again I find the premise so interesting, but...
Last I tried to get into both the A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Mass, but I bounced off the sample of the first and My interest faded on the second about the 1/4 mark.
@Alecia, have you read A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (a compilation of three short stories)? It's set 90 years before ASOIAF, and I find it much more enjoyable than the main series. Dunk and Egg are just adorable.
