Lion's Heat - Lora Leigh

This book is awesome-sauce. That's all I have to say.

Okay, not really - like a lot of fans of the Breed books, I've been waiting for Jonas's book, and Lion's Heat lived up to all my expectations.

I won't say too much else as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I really think all you Jonas fans will love it.

If you haven't read this series, I wouldn't suggest starting with this one. The first mass market release was Megan's Mark and I think you can easily jump in at that point (that's how I began). However there are prior books in the series that originally came out in ebook format. You can see the complete chronology on Lora's site.

Ellizabeth's Wolf - Lora Leigh

It's no secret that I love Lora Leigh's Breed books - Elizabeth's Wolf was no different. In fact, I think it might be one of my favorite entries in the series.

Here's a blurb (from Lora's website):

She brought him back from death and made him live again.

Dash thought himself alone, a soldier, a fighting machine and no more.

Elizabeth made him realize he was a man.

Danger surrounds the woman his soul marked as his mate, death and blood and a treachery that goes beyond even his worst nightmares. But he will protect her and what she claims as her own. He was created to kill, trained to do it efficiently, and only a man bound to her, heart and soul, will have the strength to save Elizabeth and her prized possession.

He is a lone wolf. A man alone. No pack, no family, no one to call his own until one single, innocent letter awoke Elizabeth’s wolf.

What did I love about it? I think it's what I love about all of the Breed books I've read--the sheer emotional punch, the intensity of the relationship between the hero and heroine.

I have to mention Dash - he's a great hero. Deeply protective, honorable, and endearing in his determination to go it alone rather than put others in the line of fire.

The heat between Elizabeth and Dash is through the roof, so we warned - you might need to keep a fire extinguisher handy. *g*

This is a really great book. It's full of heart, passion and rock-solid love. Can't ask for much more than that. :-)

You can read an excerpt on Lora's website.

Have you read the Breed series? Thoughts?

Today's entry question is inspired by that gorgeous cover: Naked (or semi-naked) male chests on covers - for or against? Why?

Mercury's War - Lora Leigh

I'm a huge fan of Lora Leigh's Breed books - I haven't managed to get my hands on the entire series yet, but I think Mercury's War might be my favorite Breed book to date.

I closed it with a sense of complete and utter satisfaction, and this gut-deep sense that Mercury and his heroine would make it, that they were absolutely meant to be together. Happy sigh :)

What've you been reading this week? Any books coming out soon that you're looking forward to?

Lora Leigh - Dawn's Awakening & Blogging

There are so many great books coming out Feb 5! (Including this fabulous one called Mine to Possess - don't forget to grab it! *grin*)

I wanted to mention another Feb 5 release, today - Lora Leigh's Dawn's Awakening. I'm a huge fan of Lora's Breeds series and this installment is just as compelling as the previous books.

In this one, we have Seth, a human hero & Dawn, a breed female. But unlike the other mated pairs we've seen to date, these two already have a deeply emotional history. The book starts out with a bit of a twist, something I never expected - if you want to know what the twist is, check out the excerpt.

As with all the Breed books, the sensual connection between the two characters is sizzling, there's an action subplot - and the introduction of a new player who intrigues the heck out of me. Must. Know. More!! If you're a Breed fan, you'll devour this one.
___________

Also I'm doing a number of guest blogs next week and I wanted to ask if there was anything in particular you all would like me to talk about?

Lora Leigh - Tanner's Scheme

So you all know that I'm a fan of Lora Leigh's Breeds series, so when she gave in to my masterful persuasion (*g*) and sent me an advanced copy of Tanner's Scheme (out now!), I was all over it like white on rice. And that was before I saw that cover! Wow, would you turn him down? *fans self*

Okay, moving on. Tanner is a Bengal Tiger breed, which by itself is sexy enough, but when you add in his lazy charm and intelligence, oh man, is he hot! The lucky woman at the center of his attentions is Scheme Tallant, daughter of the notorious General Tallant, someone who is one of the Breed's most hated enemies. Talk about tension.

Sensually, this book is scorching. It pushes at the boundaries but it works fabulously within the context of Breed society and behaviour. But what really got to me was the emotional intensity - there were parts that just tore into me, I was feeling so much for these two characters. TS gripped me from start to finish and it was a heck of a ride.

Excellent, wonderful book - only problem is, I want more right this second! I'm hoping Lora Leigh will write the story of Tanner's twin, Cabal, soon. I'm fascinated by him.

Lora Leigh's Breeds

If you've been reading this blog over the past month, you'll have realized I've gone crazy over reading lately. One of my 'discoveries' just before Christmas, was Lora Leigh's Breeds series. I raced through Megan's Mark, then began Harmony's Way.

If you haven't read these books, Lora Leigh's world is a place where the Genetics Council has engineered human and animal DNA together to create Breeds. These Breeds were meant to be soldiers and assassins and were kept locked up in labs, but have now found freedom and the world has to deal with them.

Here's the blurb for Megan's Mark (from LL's site):

Cursed with the extraordinary power to feel other peoples' emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff's deputy. She finds solace in the silence and heat of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realizes that the secrets from her past can't stay buried forever. Someone is out for blood - her blood.

An arrogant Feline Breed, Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the mysterious murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with him can she let down her guard - and surrender to the insatiable hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the elusive killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey...

These books are hot enough to singe (talk about sizzling chemistry!) but what really did it for me was that I fell in love with the characters and more importantly, I could imagine them falling in love with each other. Megan and Braden just 'fit'.

I had the same reaction to Lance and Harmony in Harmony's Way. These couples might be driven together by the mating heat, but what keeps them together is how right they are for each other.

It's sexy, it's original and it has great characters - I totally recommend this series. (FYI: Megan's Mark isn't actually the first book - several of the series came out in e-format, but I had no trouble picking up the threads of the world so go forth and read!)

The next book is Tanner's Scheme (Aug 07), which I have managed to get my paws on in advance through various nefarious methods! I'll post on that closer to the release date since it would be just mean to tease you all so far in advance! *g*
