Catchup and Friday Book Club

Wow, it's Friday again already! How did that happen?!

I'm off to have a hot chocolate with Ashwini and a good friend this morning, then it's back into Psy-Changeling #15. If you missed this month's newsletter, Psy-Changeling #15 will feature an ensemble cast and be a book about family, whether that family is related by blood, by loyalty, or myriad other bonds.

While I was traveling, I made my way through Ramez Naam's Nexus trilogy. This is science fiction (no romance), and I found the concepts within it both fascinating and thought-provoking. Plus, it's a great action story.

My current read is an early copy of JD Robb's Devoted in Death (out Sep 15th). It's awesome as always.

Okay, your turn! What are you reading and loving this week?

I read and really liked KJ Charles's newest book, A Fashionable Indulgence. Now about to start Brown Eyed Girl by Lisa Kleypas!

Linesman by a wonderful new author S.K. Dunstall. This book is Science Fiction instead of Romance. I decided to try it after reading a sample chapter that was linked to Ilona Andrews site and was not disappointed.

I'm re-reading the Psy-Changeling books (currently KoS). Can't wait for #15 to see them all again. Hope, we'll see the pupcups to be born at last. I vote for quadruplets (2 leopards, 2 wolfs) :-D
Warm greetings from Germany. Have a nice weekend.

I am re-reading Lora Leigh's Breed books (right now reading Navarro's Promise).

Good to know that Devoted in Death is a good one to read. I noticed yesterday on B&N that J D Robb is coming out with a short story in anthology called Down the Rabbit Hole. She also has a new in Death book coming out in February 2016 called Brotherhood in Death. For anyone who reads the in Death series, Brotherhood is about Dennis Mira (love him). Since Eve has a soft spot for Mr. Mira, it's going to be interesting.

Finishing the Lure of the Moonflower, the last book of the Pink Carnation series. While it can be a little silly at times, I've enjoyed the audio narration of this series. And who doesn't enjoy a historical spy from time to time?

Finally got a chance to read Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews. Loved it! Re-read North of Need by Laura Kaye, the first in her Hearts of Anemoi series. Topped it off with Lukas by Carian Cole. It's the third book in her Ashes and Embers series. Lots of variety in those books this week.

Finally hopping on the Laura Florand train! So far, I've read Once Upon a Rose and A Rose in Winter, and right now I'm working on All for You. Loving her gruff, growly, mushy-hearted heroes!

I had a trip coming up so I checked Ms. Singh's blog and that of Ilona Andrews. I found a link to 100 Swoon-Worthy Romances and purchased some books from the list. I read Meljean Brook's The Iron Duke, Laura Florand's The Chocolate Kiss, Joey Hill's Natural Law, Grace Burrowes' The Captive and Nalini's Whisper of Sin (as it was the only one of hers I didn't already have). I recommend them all. My sister, who is a big fan of the TV series Bones, had suggested I try Kathy Reichs' Deja Dead. That was good, too. (It was a very long trip - 26 hours on I10.) I am now treating myself to Magic Shifts, Ilona Andrews' new novel in the Kate Daniels series. I am so grateful that Ms. Singh offers us this opportunity to share what we're reading; I find the best suggestions here.

I am reading Robin Owen's Celta Heartmates series, currently on. Heart Dance (6). I'd never heard of Robin before last Friday's bookclub when someone recommended her. All I can say is that there is only one thing better than a good recommendation, and that is a good recommendation with an enormous back catalogue, Yay!!! Going to read myself into a coma this weekend :-)

Very jealous about the early copy of Devoted in Death.

Also jealous of the early copy of Devoted in Death. Thanks to Patricia S. for the sneak peak at other in Death books coming out. Who doesn't have a soft spot for Dennis Mira!!
Glad Anonymous likes Robin Owens - I am still trying to track down some of the books myself.
As for what I am reading - rereading Archangel's series to tide me over til Naasir. Next week I am going on vacation so I am planning to dive into my To Be Read pile some of which are on the 100 Swoon Worthy list. I am ready to try some new authors though I love my favourites so much sometimes it is difficult not stick with rereading cause you know it will be a good story!!

Oh, god, you reminded me I need to read Apex.
So many books, so little time...

Uf, ok: so I reread Neverwhere since Gaiman's preferred version was released.
I also read new Bujold. It's short story called Penric's Demon. Really short, but well written. She can't do wrong.
New Scalzi- The End of All Things. Superfun addition to OMW series.
...and I binged on BBC series called Humans Loooved.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Trying to decide what series to re read at the moment.
Considering the elemental phases by Cassandra Gannon - which starts with Warrior from the shadowland.
Other option is Janny Wurts - Wars of light and shadow. That series starts with Curse of the mistwraith.
Jenny's books would definately keep me busy with books for quite a while.

What to read, what to read.

Thanks for the weekend wishes Lege Artis.
Enjoy your weekend as well
