Playlists and Songs

I was listening to some music today and I got to thinking about playlists for books. I don't have those, but every so often (not always), a song will resonate with me as I write.

For Heart of Obsidian, it was "Skyfall" by Adele. I actually first heard it while I was on the second draft and just loved the feel of it. I'm curious, what songs do you think fit my books (or any one of my books)?

I always thought that Nero's "Promises" really fit the Psy/Changeling world, especially the video.

Oh, this is interesting. :)

Skyfall totally fits.

Hmm.. I was thinking about songs that fit your books and actually came up with some songs that fit your characters:

Naasir - "Wild Thing" by The Troggs(obviously) :)
Aodhan- "Diamonds" by Rihanna. ;)

When I Look at You by Miley Cyrus makes me think of Sascha & Lucas.

Fall by Clay Walker I like for Max & Sophia.

Hardline by Richie Havens for Judd & Brenna.

I'll Always be Right There by Bryan Adams for Walker & Lara.

I Will Find You by Clannad for Kaleb & Sahara.

I'm curious what songs everyone else thinks of.

I always associate "Angel with a Shotgun" from The Cab with Raphael or Illium :D

It's very interesting how some songs fit so perfectly for characters... love it *-*

I think of "Roll with the Changes" by REO Speedwagon for Janvier and Ashwinni.

Definitely "Wild Thing" by the Troggs for Nassir.

"What I Like About You" by the Romantics for Max and Sophia.

"Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for Raphael and Elena, and all the Seven.

"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor for Aden and the Arrows.

"I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and Heartbreakers for Hawke and Sienna (as well as Grace and Cooper).

"Can't Explain" by the Who for Judd and Brenna

I just thought of a couple of more songs:

"Kiss from a Rose" by Seal for Kaleb and Sahara

"Along Comes a Woman" by Chicago for Ransom and Nyree (this one hit me right after my first post)

I'll stop and get back to work. :)

This it the first time I've even watched to music video...so ignore it. I think I heard this around the same time I was reading Heart of Obsidian and all I could think was that it suited it so well... I literally had a little music video going on in my mind of the characters...

*Everything I do I do it for you by Bryan Adams (David and Thea).

*No more drama by Mary J Blige (Ash).

*We are by Ana Johnsson -and- If I ain't got you by Alicia Keys (Kaleb and Sahara).

*Me and my broken heart by Rixton -and- Black magic woman by Fleetwood Mac (Riaz and Adria).

*Shape of my Heart by Sting (Jason).

*Run to You by Whitney Houston -and-I want to know what love is by Foreigner (Elena and Raphael).

So much fun. I love, love, love this.

I'm liking all of these I also think bleeding love by Leona Lewis would be great for Judd and Brenna. You have such great books Nalini it's fun picking songs for them. Thanks for the fun blog.

Everytime I hear Blaze of G;ory by Bon Jovi I think of Vasic.

I listened to BitterSweet - A Moment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INl6cw2miZg) the entire time I was reading Heart of Obsidian. The mood of the song seemed to fit the tone of the book, especially with Kaleb believing that his interlude with Sahara would inevitably end.

Also, every time I hear IAMX - I Come With Knives (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt0MkotVIEc) I think of Elena, for obvious reasons.

I always think about your books when I am listening Sinners by Lauren Aquilina and Hope Emeli Sande

Demons by Imagine Dragons makes me think of Kaleb. It could also apply to Vasic and Judd as well.

This thread has been bad for my iTunes budget.

I've just blazed through the Rock Kiss series so fast that I'm sleep-deprived and grumpy and still debating whether I love Fox or T-Rex more... and throughout I was wondering what bands and what songs you have in mind when you describe Schoolboy Choir's music. I'm new to reading the blog, so have you answered this question somewhere else?

@CizinkaNaZemi Sorry for the sleep deprivation... only not sorry. ;)

The funny thing is that one of the songs mentioned in this thread is one that for me, is Noah's song (though I agree, it does also suit Vasic and Judd).

It's the one @Anon suggested: Demons by Imagine Dragons

Those are the kinds of songs that fit SC for me. Rock with a raw intensity to it, words that reach right into you and grip your heart in a tight fist.

Guns n Roses, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, all of these bands would fit in a general sense, with some songs more fitting than others. "November Rain" by Guns n Roses is a great example of a rock ballad that I could see SC singing.

@Library Addict - mine too!

I think that "Diary of Jane" by Breaking Benjamin is perfect fit for Kaleb and Sahara also Lullaby by Professor Green for Vasic and Ivy.. :-)

Adele's "Fire to the Rain" for Sienna, before she and Hawke got their HEA in Kiss of Snow. I always think of Sienna when I hear that song.

When I read about Walker and Lara the one song I kept thinking about was Everything by Lifehouse

Interesting that so many of us mention the same songs!
Adele is totally the soundtrack in my mind to the entire psy changeling series ☺
Probably because I discovered the series quite far in, when kiss of snow was released. So I read the entire series so far in pretty much one go, and that same vacation I'd discovered Adele (I know I'm hopelessly unaware of the latest pop sensations, but I don't listen to the radio unless it's classical, and since I'm an adult and not in school anymore I don't get music from my friends the same way, and I just don't want to have to filter out all the rubbish, and... well, the gems usually stand the test of time, and my best friend had of watch Adeles live from Albert Hall, and now I'm a fan)

Anyways. Adele and nalinis books now go hand in hand. 😉
And isn't "catch fire to the rain" totally the lied motif for Sienna? ☺

And I love that Nalini mentioned Skyfall, that's arrow lied motif to me 😉

I really like the song My Hands by Leona Lewis. I'm not sure what couple it would suit but it's cute as hell :)

"Tempest" by Lucius really reminds me of Mercy's head space when she's struggling with the repercussions of what her and Riley's mating might mean for her in her pack
