I finished the book last night. Oh wow on how the present and what happens 700 years later with Ilium and Aodhan occurred. I cried two times. The first was when Ilium and Aodhan were saying their goodbyes. The second was when I read about Sarah's funeral. That Sarah passed after a month of Deacon said a lot about their relationship.
So, Eve and Zoe decided to become vampires. I'm so glad they decided to be part of Ilium's group.
Vivek is getting what he wanted. He wanted to be like Jason. Plus, I'm glad he and Katrina stuck together. 😁
Hopefully this is not the last we read of the dynamic duo.

Where to start? This will be rambling!

The 700 year time jump made sense though I was surprised all the current archangels decided to stay around so long.

I knew Sarah, Deacon, the sisters, Demarco, etc would be gone and tried to be prepared. So the bit with Zoe and Eve took me by surprise. I had mixed feeling about it at first, but decided I am happy Elena still has one of her sisters and Zoe around! Hopefully we will get a bit more page time with them in the final book.

I was so happy to see Mahiya and Jason on page in multiple scenes even if they were very brief appearances.

So excited for Andi and Nassir. Triplets! Plus liked that she was slowly building a better relationship with her parents.

But the book was about Sparkle and Bluebell. Loved Aodhan going to Caliane for advice. Liked that that each worked through their individual traumas while still being together. I still say it is only fair they got two books since both are (were) members of the Seven. Loved the scenes where they exchanged amber then Sharine threw them their Amber revel. So many fun and touching moments throughout I won't spoil them all.

Part of me is sad the next book will be the last, but I so appreciate that you are giving us a complete series. Ending with Elena and Raphael is only right.

Wow! I read this in one sitting (whole freaking night) and I am shook. There was laughter, there was tears (alot of tears) very mixed emotions but in the end.. I love this book, perfectly written and I am happy and sad for Blue and Adi.

I am still brutally sad about the parting of ways at the end. And Sara being gone. I mean I knew obviously she and Deacon would no longer be around but still - like Ellie says, she will never again have a friend like Sara. The way Illium and Aodhan make their journey together is beautiful ! It was good to know Mardruk and his consort are in the world (Would love to meet her in a book/novella and how she interacts with Ellie). The glimpses of all the others in the series was perfect. Although I wonder if Elena's grandparents were still in NY, yes I get this is Illium and Aidan's story but thought there would be a mention, since so many others were mentioned. Naasir and Andi have cubs !!! OMG ! And that too three !

I am so very depressed there there will be only one more GH book. This is my favorite series. Elena and Raphael are my favorite couple.

It would be good to know how Illium would change the Cadre, don't you think so ?

I didn't realize this book is the second to the last Guild Hunter book. Nalini must have announced this on Facebook or Instagram. I don't follow either social media groups.
It will be sad to see this series not continue any more. I wonder if a new series in the works. 🤔

Ascension was such a capstone book that I am happy to learn that there will be one more.

I suspect that the Nine Archangels (prior to Illium's ascension) were willing to stick around since being an Archangel once the Compass was reset became a lot less stressful.

I loved this book, and it was the perfect continuation and ending of Adi and Blue’s story. The 700-year time jump made perfect sense to me, and I enjoyed getting the back story of what happened between the end of the Death Cascade through Adi and Blue’s realizing they were more than best friends, to Ilium’s ascension, and then taking the story from there. And I like how the past pieces intertwined with the current to give richer context to the story.

- There were many aspects of this book I loved, but for me, THE BEST part of the book was Nalini’s description of Illium’s ascension and all the things he sees in his “life review” from seeing his parents, Rafael, Nassir, Dmitri, the others of the Seven, the Legion, and others. And of course, that conversation between Illiam and Rafael right after he ascended. Just WOW!! I could feel the whole thing as if it were happening to me!! BRAVO, NALINI, BRAVO.

- I loved the “Amber Reveal” party and that Adi’s family came and how Illium interacted with them.

- I was sad when Illium said his goodbyes to the remaining Seven, Rafael, and Elena.

- I loved the scenes between Dmitri and Nassir when the “angel cubs” were born.

- It’s great that Ellie still has Zoe and Eve from her blood family and chosen family. And that Zoe is going to be Illium’s weapons master. I’m happy that Vivek will be Illium’s spymaster and that Katrina is with him.

For me, this is the best book in the series. I do reserve the right to change my mind when the last book comes out next year. This doesn’t happen often that in a book series I resonate more with the side characters than the main two. Not to say, I don’t love Elena and Rafael, but I love the other characters more. I hope Nalini will do a novella or a short story from Illium’s Spire in the future. I’d love to know what’s going on there and the people he’s gathered around him.
