I finally read "The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter" by Theodora Goss. It's super-good. At first, the writing style was a bit strange (comments from the characters appear throughout, as though they are reading the manuscript) but I quickly fell into it. Now, I must read the rest of the trilogy. But, I paused and started "A Strange Practice" by Vivian Shaw. I'm about 1/2 way through and I'm loving it! I'm so glad I decided to catch up on my Monster books before Halloween. It's been truly delightful.
On the plus side, I liked Veronica Scott's Star Cruise: Idol's Curse (Sectors #13) in the Pets in Space 4 anthology. I had a few issues with the h/h, but it's always fun to catch up with the crew of the Nebula Zephyr (the interstellar luxury cruise ship featured in a number of books and novellas in the series).
Wonderful books this week-- the Guild Hunter books (again), Dana Marie Bell's "Sound's Familiar", Annette Marie's "An Alchemist and an Amaretto", Laurence Dohner's Hyllis Family story "Sisters", and Keri Arthur's "Wicked Wings". The writing and story telling ranged from wonderfully good to exquisite. I will happily re-read all of these. Otherwise, had a couple of duds and a couple I just couldn't get into. That's the reading life! I may start re-reading today, these were that enjoyable.
Read Lake Silence by Anne Bishop. Very good. Less dark than the Others stories thanks to the heroin and her comments but still the Others world with vampires, shifters and elementals. Wild country will be next.
After I got done weeding archangels war it was really good I was waiting for the audiobook because of Barnes & Noble is what's going on with them but I got the audio book from the library and it was really good at it yet you got overheated it was really really good
Right now reading the Kinsman series by Ilona Andrews. By the way, Ilona Andrews got spammed last week with a 'Dear Nalini' introduction. I told them on their blog that I wouldn't mind a collaboration between all three of you. 😉
