Read Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews. Wonderful book!
To keep myself from going nuts waiting for Archangel's War, I decided to read/skim the In Death series by JD Robb from the very beginning (starts with Naked in Death). It's very weird to read the very early stories. I'm so use to the newer stories with Roarke helping Eve with cases.
Enjoyed Vendetta in Death by Robb. I too have been re-reading the earlier stories. They are a bit different, but it is interesting to watch Eve's relationships with Roarke and the other characters develop. That is one of the things I have always liked about this series, the way the relationships change and mature.
Re read In Death books leading up to Vendetta In Death. Great series Am now re reading Archangel's Prophecy as I wait for Archangel's War. Reading them back to back, the similarities between the 2 series hit me. Eve/ Roarke Elena/ Raphael Both women strong, fearless, warriors Both men blue-eyed, drop dead gorgeous with more power & money than God Everyone needing to come to terms with the tragedies of their pasts and learning to navigate the new relationships that finding true love has brought to their lives etc, etc, etc No wonder I enjoy both series so much!
I read Emergence and Transformation by Jaliza A Burwell. This is a new author for me and the reviews were mixed but I had to try them because one reviewer called the main character a Sociopath. Have to admit, that always catches my attention. It's a good duology but some of the plot points felt a little contrived. Of course, all fictional plots are contrived so that didn't bother me much. And she's not a sociopath. She just likes to fight and she enjoys sex. What's wrong with that? Are only men allowed to enjoy working out conflict and stress in a physical way? Apparently, in the eyes of some. But I'm glad there are writers out there taking risks.
I’m reading Trail of Lightening by Rebecca Roanhorse, which I got through Read for Pixels a while back. It is totally different, post apocalypse in the territory of the Dîné (Navajo), with a reluctant protagonist who is a monster killer. It was a Hugo finalist, won a Locus Award and is really excellent! AndreaH

2.5 books into my reread of the Guild Hunter series in preparation for September 24. Woo HOO!!!!!!!
