Read the first book in Rebecca Crowley's Elite Operators, Secure Target.
Started Lord of the Abyss on Wednesday while my mom was in surgery, but set it aside as I couldn't concentrate on it. I am enjoying it so far and plan to finish ASAP.
I read Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. It's funny, I saw the movie but never read the book. I skimmed the parts that went into mathematics and other "preaching" parts (it was written in 1990 when cloning was becoming a scientific wonder). The book is a lot more gruesome than the movie so be warned.
Just finished The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett, which was environmentally appropriate reading material, as I'm in Australia at the moment. I'm also reading Crushed by Elizabeth Crewe ( I love the main characters voice, especially in the first book. She's not quite as mean in the second one), and Perfect State by Brandon Sanderson (think Matrix, but everyone gets to be King of their own reality).

Your book. My copy of shards of hope finally arrived.
