Pride and Prejudice

"You must allow me to tell you how ardently I love and admire you!"

What a declaration! For those of you who aren't obsessed with this particular love story, the quote is from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I've been watching the BBC's adaptation (for the xillionth time) and I was struck once again by the way so much is said in the scenes between Lizzie and Mr Darcy without a word being spoken.

A glance, a smile, a subtle change in expression and the viewer knows exactly what's going on. The whole relationship is so restrained and yet so incredibly passionate under those genteel manners. It fascinates me to wonder what might really be going on inside their heads.

As you might've guessed, the only point of this post is to wax lyrical about Pride and Prejudice. Any other fans fell free to jump in with your favorite lines or scenes (or just longing sighs for Mr Darcy!).

I rented it the movie just because you mentioned once before. The movie was great I love the end. I'm looking foward to read the book. Is it better than the movie?
If so I can't wait to read it.

Hi Barbara. I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie. Isn't it great? (And yes, I've had this blog for what, four months? And I've mentioned P&P or Mr. Darcy at least once every month LOL!). Actually, the BBC adaptation was very close to the book, but since the book is the original, have a read and see what you think. :)

*sigh* I love Pride and Prejudice!

Have you seen the bollywood version, Bride and Prejudice? It's by the same woman who made Bend it like Beckham.

You should definately check it out if you haven't yet.

I really enjoyed Bend It Like Beckham but I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of Bride and Prejudice yet. Argh! I'm dying to see it.
