Friday Book Club

Book club time!

I finished reading Salmon Fishing In the Yemen by Paul Torday earlier this week - it's definitely not a romance, but I found it a compelling read. It's comic in a very sardonic, dark way. Have any of you read it? What did you think?

Okay, your turn. What are you reading and loving at the moment?

I haven't read it, but a movie is coming out very shortly. It looks good.

Just finished Close Encounters by Katherine Allred. It's a good start to this new SF/Rom series. I'm now tossing up on reading the Hunger Games, Blood Law or finishing Wuthering Heights (this book is seriously testing my patience. I love Heathcliff but I'm frustrated by the whole thing at the same time).

Ohhhh, I am soooo excited - I have to tell: I just booked my travel arrangements to Berlin... Love Letter Convention JEPEEEEEEEEE.... Only for this occasion I orderd the hardcover edition of "Tangle of Need"- crossing fingers that Amazon will deliver in time before my departure. (Normaly I buy Ebooks - will buy both versions this time) I am just jumping up and down....
Actually I started the new "Others" installment "On the prowl" by Christine Warren. I am not sure if I like the heroine as much as others in her books. The jury is still out on it. ;-) Next will be "Tricked" the new "Iron Druid Chronicles" Book by Kevin Hearne. I enjoied the first two books very much, the third not so much and hope for the new book.

Been re-reading Johanna Lindsey romances. Her male characters are cavemen but I love 'em anyway!

Jennifer Lawson's Let's Pretend this Never Happened. It's hilarious, and it definitely makes me feel better about a lot of things...

I re-read Mine till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas. Hot long haired gypsy hero with an earring falls in love. He tells the heroine she can't be alone with any man unless it's her brother.

I'm currently reading Sarah A. Hoyt's Darkship Thieves, a science fiction novel with some romance woven in. I've just read Nora Roberts' The Witness and Mary Jo Putney's No Longer a Gentleman and definitely recommend them! Not sure what I will read next...

Just finished My life in France by Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme. It is an intresting book that shows us how Julia started her love of cooking and funny stories about her life. Another interesting aspect is the romance and devotion between Paul and Julia. Next is Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) I love this series.

I Downloaded a free Kindle contempary romance called Marriage by Mistake by Alyssa Kress and for a freebie its a fantastic read, it's about a cold businessman who gets hypnotised and flies to Las Vegas for the weekend and meets and marries within 24 hours a show girl. After the 24 hours he 'Snaps' out of the trance and returns to Boston forgetting all about the weekend and the Wifey, but she follows him to give him what for..It's a brilliant read and I love the fact that i've discovered a new Author, so if you have a Kindle you have nothing to lose by downloading it..I'm now waiting eagerly for Tangle of Need at the end of the month!

I'm reading Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane. The heroine has a lot of issues. It's rare to come across a drug addict as the protagonist. Chess is still a compelling character.
