__________________________

According to Ilona Andrews, Silver Shark is about "A millionaire boss on a planet in the distant future. [The heroine] is a secretary who can kill you with her brain."

How could I not want to read that?! Now that I have read this novella, I can tell you that it is awesome. It's science fiction romance, but trust me, even if you don't like sf romance, you'll enjoy this.

Here's the more official blurb, along with a link to an excerpt:
Claire Shannon is a Kinsman, a woman gifted with enhanced mental capabilities. Her skills and her life were taken over by the military to fight in war that has raged on her home planet for decades. But as the war ends, she is forced to hide her abilities in order to make a new life for herself as a civilian. It’s a new persona, a new planet and new job that has her crossing paths with the powerful and alluring Venturo Escana. Is she strong enough to hide her true nature from her perceptive new boss? And as they grow closer, will she even still want to try?
Claire was a heroine I rooted for, as she tried to find her way in a beautiful new world that seems insane to her, coming as she does from the relentless gray of a wartorn mining colony. And Venturo was both delicious and dangerous, the perfect millionaire boss hero.

Giveaway: Because I thought this novella was so fantastic, I'm going to give away ten copies. This is an ebook only novella, so if you win, you'll be sent an electronic file in the format you choose (as long as it's available). Well, I hate air travel of any kind but if it was a 'beam me up Scotty' type of travel that would be okay. I'd like to meet a hunky hero like the guy from Farscape.

ClumsyPink said...

I think the first question would be 'whether I could afford space travel' haha, but YES I'll definitely jump on board. There's something beautifully hypnotizing about space... I'd love to see our beautiful planet Earth...and the Milky Way from afar :) See if there are hidden planets..and extraterrestrial beings...! and just day dream with my head in the stars ;)

Steph said...

If space travel was possible I would definitely jump on board! assuming I can afford it. I would want to visit other planets to see how different they are from our own.

Anonymous said...

Ooo space travel. That's every little Trekkie's dream, isn't it? I grew up with Star Trek and always wanted to know what it'd be like. Natural wonders in nebulae, that giant diamond they discovered last year. But what I hope to see is other forms of sentient life, and I hope to find kindness in them.

Kristi said...

It sounds awesome! I can't wait to read it! I love space stories, they are fun. kristidavis at gmail.com

Space travel ;) I like the idea !!! Meet other races and see that we are not alone it would be amazing , the whole idea of thinking that theres more to know it's great

Amy said...

I actually don't think I'll go space traveling. I would be too scared and I am not fit enough for space travel. I suppose if I go, I would love to see the stars up close (as safety allows).

Rubita said...

If space travel was like in science fiction, I'd totally go space traveling. Right now, though, I'm determined to stay on earth. You have to have gravity and re-entry figured out before I'd be willing to visit any galaxies far, far away. As for what I want to see...well, aside from bizarre alien beings, I've always really wanted to see the earth from space.

Amy Kathryn said...

I would definitely space travel. I would hope to see the same things I hope to see when I travel now....people, places, thoughts, ideas, art, architecture that is so very different from my own and just as beautiful.

Jennifer T said...

I would love to travel to space but I also would be very scared. I want to see if their are any sexy aliens out there.

Kristi said...

Going with my dumb comment above (where I forgot to answer!), I would LOVE to space travel as long as it was very safe. I would want to see how beautiful all the planets looked and gaze out at the stars

dameolga said...

If I got the chance to go space traveling, how could I pass that up! Leaving Earth would be hard, but no way I'm missing out on the chance to see planets and stars from outer space.

harpergirl said...

If I got the chance for space travel, I would probably want to have a thorough understanding of how the space travel works before I signed up to go, so that I might have a chance at being useful in case something were to go wrong, so long as I also got to come back home. I'm not so interested in being a space pioneer, settling new planets. Wait til there's theater, then call me. :-)

bberie said...

Well, I read a story once where the amount of space allocated to each passenger required the body to be separated and put back together at the end of the journey. Perhaps the Alien/Ripley method of cryogenic suspension would work best. Either way I would love to see Saturn and it's rings and moons.

Jen said...

Would love to travel to space provided its very very safe. See what outer space is like and maybe meet a hunky alien or two. Lol!

shortyal2008 said...

I would love to travel to space! I would want to see me a hottie alien man!! lol! But I think seeing anything in space would be neat. I would definitely go if I could.

Kelly Mucalo said...

Yes, another trekkie here, so space travel would be FAB!!! I would love to be able to look back at how beautiful earth is....before zooming away to discover other exciting planets....ooohh, would love it in a Eve Dallas kind of universe, how fun would that be, especially if there was a Rourke!

Emily C said...

I love to travel period, so I think space travel would fall under the "traveling" category :) I always loved astrology and if it wouldn't take 50 years to get halfway there, I'd be up for it!

Kalyrra said...

I would jump on board in a heartbeat, and would love to see "EVERYTHING" there is to see among the stars :)

I like the idea of space travel, but I'm not sure about the reality. Imagining the possibilities is fun, but I even hate flying on airplanes :)

Anonymous said...

Space travel? Why not, especially if it was on some big-ass spaceship like a cruise liner. Seeing some of those planets I learnt about years ago at school would be pretty cool - if they could somehow figure out how to keep the trip to a maximum of two weeks...wouldn't want to be away from terra-firma for much longer than that. :0)

Yes, yes and yes! Space travel, although bringing up a terrible image of me homesick, would be AWESOME. If I could go out into the great unknown I would probably want to find some new planet with a really hunky guy and a lovely beach where I could sit and write about this new world and all its interesting beings, landscapes and cultures!

I would totally jump aboard a space flight! Count on me to have dramamine and tequilla in my bag in case its a bumpy flight! I want a window seat so I don't miss the view of earth or that poor poor "always a bridesmaid never a planet" Pluto as we fly by on our way to see other real planets!

If space travel was an option I would love to travel. I think I would want to see other cultures (best part about traveling on planet too), to meet different people, see all the different architecture, try some yummy foods (and maybe just some unusual ones), and especially the different languages. I wouldn't necessarily have to be aliens, just human colonies would end up being unique.

I'm not sure that I would, I might go once (as long as I could be sure to come back down)just to have a look at earth from space or even a close up of the moon, but honestly I love where I live, I don't really feel the need to visit other planets to see what they've got

Lol, that would be like the coolest vacation anyone can ever take. If I do go to space, I'd like to see our Milky Way from afar, and see the Sun and the positions of the planets and their moons around them. And when I turn around to the opposite window, I'll be able to see all the other billions of galaxies like stars from my vantage point.

To go traveling in space, I'd have to know I'd be able to return. I know that sounds silly, but I don't think I could leave this planet forever.

I'd love to see another ecosystem--from a safe distance. I watch too many science-fiction horror movies.

I enjoy travelling and seeing landscapes in different areas (even just within my home country there is so much variation), so the opportunity to travel in space would be amazing. I'd hope to see more inhabitable planets for us to have opportunities to take better care of than we have here, and hopefully without invading any other existing intelligent species' domains. If we were to find other intelligent life, then I would hope it would be a peaceful meeting and co-existence! :D
