I keep wondering ifI should investigate the Kate Daniels book s more. I've only read a few pages of one, probably fairly early on, a few years ago, but I liked it. I've never gotten back to it or the series though.
Currently, I'm loving the anthology Upgraded, edited by Neil Clarke. Every new story I read in it has something else I love in it. (and yes, I know this is the third time I'm mentioning this anthology) The latest story starts "So... you saw your brother killed by a Yeti, with a knife."
There is a detective and a unicorn horn involved, apparently.
I enjoyed Ada Harper's A Conspiracy of Whispers (Quillian Empire #1).
Currently rereading Jeffe Kennedy's The Mark of the Tala, the first full-length book in her Twelve Kingdoms series in anticipation of next month's The Fate of the Tala the final book in her The Uncharted Realms spin-off/sequel series. I reread most of the series last year, but since the next book again centers on the couple from book 1 I wanted to revisit their book again.
And since it's the last Friday of the year, my favorite books of 2019: alphabetically by author, then by release date: Her Festive Flirtation by Therese Beharrie Nov 2018 Nightchaser by Amanda Bouchet Mar 2019 (Endeavor #1) Fractured Stars by Lindsay Buroker Sept 2018 (Fractured Stars #1) Junkyard * by Lindsay Buroker Oct 2018 (Fractured Stars #1.5) Fierce Justice by Piper J Drake Mar 2019 (True Heroes #5) A Conspiracy of Whispers by Ada Harper Jan 2018 (Quillian Empire #1) Wyoming Cowboy Bodyguard by Nicole Helm July 2019 (Carsons & Delaneys #7) The Trouble with Cowboy Weddings by Nicole Helm July 2019 (Mile High #5) The Bride Test by Helen Hoang May 2019 (The Kiss Quotient #2) Warrior of the World by Jeffe Kennedy Jan 2019 (Chronicles of Dasnaria #3) Oria’s Enchantment by Jeffe Kennedy Jan 2019 (Sorcerous Moons #5) Lonen’s Reign by Jeffe Kennedy Mar 2019 (Sorcerous Moons #6) The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy Oct 2019 (Forgotten Empires #1) The Queen’s Gambit * by Jessie Mihalik Feb 2018 (Rogue Queen #1) Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik Feb 2019 (Consortium Rebellion #1) Aurora Blazing by Jessie Mihalik Oct 2019 (Consortium Rebellion #2) Apple of My Eye by Carla Neggers Apr 1985 (Michael Wolfe Literary Agency #1) Night Watch by Carla Neggers Oct 1993 Stone Bridges by Carla Neggers Apr 2019 (Swift River Valley #9) The Rogue King by Abigail Owen July 2019 (Inferno Rising #1) Engaging the Enemy by Reese Ryan Apr 2019 (The Bourbon Brothers #3) Winter Solstice Dream * by Veronica Scott Oct 2019 (Magic of Claddare #1.5) Angels’ Judgment * by Nalini Singh Sept 2009 (Guild Hunter #1.5) Angels’ Dance * by Nalini Singh Mar 2012 (Guild Hunter #4.7) Archangel’s Storm by Nalini Singh Sept 2012 (Guild Hunter #5) A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh Dec 2019 Flare Up by Shannon Stacey Jan 2019 (Boston Fire #6) One Summer Weekend * by Shannon Stacey Aug 2019 (Cedar Street #1) One Christmas Eve * by Shannon Stacey Nov 2019 (Cedar Street #2)

I also would consider Wolf’s Rain (Psy/Changeling Trinity #4), as well as Archangel’s Consort, Archangel’s Blade, Angel’s Wolf, Archangel’s Heart, Archangel’s Prophecy, and Archangel’s War (from the Guild Hunter series) as favorites. But since I read the Guild Hunter series in full for the first time this year (I had only read Archangel's Enigma and some of the newsletter shorts previously) and had so many Nalini books to add to my favorites list this year I limited myself to my top 4 for the list above).
I read Christmas At First Sight by Trevor McCall and A (kinda) Country Christmas: A Christian Holiday Romance by Krista Phillips. Both short stories are a wonderful read for the Holidays.
I am reading "A beastly kind of Earl" by Mia Vincy, 2nd book in the Longhope Abbey serie, the 1rst book being "A wicked kind of husband". Both are historical romance, very fun read with strong and witty female characters. Ilona Andrews spoke of the 1rst book on her blog.
Funny that Kate Daniels is mentioned! I delved into the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews a few weeks ago and have been lost in them since book 1. Fortunately there are still a few books left to read before the series is completed.
Just finished reading J.D. Robin's Vendetta in Death and Maliki Singh's Rock Wedding, both exceptional books yet completely different! Also fighting a wicked cough/cold, that will not go away. Lazing around over the weekend, reading is THE best medicine....

I'm going through the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I'm also reading their online posting of Sweep with Me, which can be pre-ordered.
