Friday Book Club

I managed to get my paws on an advanced copy of Shalador's Lady by Anne Bishop (out in March) - if you've heard me talk about the Black Jewels world before, you'll know exactly how loud I screamed when I got it. I stayed up until all hours last night reading it. It's amazing, fantastic!

If you haven't tried this series, go forth now and pick up the first book: Daughter of the Blood. Trust me, you'll adore it.

Okay, your turn. What have you been reading and loving this week?

*keels over in a dead faint*

You've...you've got your hands on Shalador's Lady Nalini? And it's an all-night type of books? *faints* I can't wait to read it. I finally 'suggested' it to the library as I was despairing of it appearing on the catalogue, but now it is there, so YAH!

I finished Magic Strikes (Ilona Andrews) at the beginning of the week and am now a complete fan girl!!! Really, really good. And I know mostly everyone is a Curran fan, but I just *adore* Derek and Raphael :)

I'm now reading Shiloh Walker's Fragile. Then it's on to the third Troubleshooter (Suzanne Brockman) book.

I've also used a Christmas book voucher from my best friend to order Astrid Amara's The Archer's Heart, which I believe has a fantasy setting reminscent of India, so I'm very much looking forward to that!

I recently discovered Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I read two of her books this week. Match Me If You Can and Natural Born Charmer were both hilarious love stories.

I also read Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern, a YA novel about a teen girl who must seek out new friends after one of her two best friends commits the friend sin of going after her would-be boyfriend (and the other one supports it without any problem), during her sophomore year of high school. It was hilarious and true to the high school experience.

Now I'm currently devouring Come Hell or High Water by Michele Bardsley. :)

You've got "Shalador's Lady"? Oooohhh, I'm so very jealous.

I've just finished a couple of SF rereads ("Mirror Dance" by Lois McMaster Bujold and "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle) and I'm about to start "The Ask and the Answer" by Patrick Ness. I seem to be in a SF/Fantasy mood at the moment.

Oooooh Nalini, I'm so jealous! I'm on pins and needles waiting for The Shalador's Lady release. I'm also a huge fan of Anne Bishop so I totally understand your state of mind...

As for my reads of the week, I started Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress series again - I just bought the last one, Seduce the Darkness, and wanted to be reminded of the previous ones...

I finished Dancing at Midnight by Julia Quinn. Everybody who likes Jane Austen will love her books! She is so funny that I felt nearly a bit stupid snickering around alone in my room but I couldn´t help it!
And I finished another book of the in death series. Read now everything my library had...I bought the first book when somebody suggest it here and it is just great! I want my own Roarke!

I just finished Deborah Cooke's Winter Kiss - it was OK, but I like the first books better. I'm about to start Jean Johnson's Shifting Plains.

I haven't had a lot of time to read lately, at least things that are not academic. One book recommended to me that is added to my TBR pile, though, is The Help by Kathryn Stockett about black mammies in the south who, as the blurb says, were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the silver.

Wow, Nalini! I haven't yet read any of her books but will do so at your suggestion, since you're awesome that way, hehe.
I just finished Christie Craig's 'Gotcha' on my lunch break today and loved it! Her books are too funny! Can't wait to read more. And can't wait to read more about Elana!

My reading has been a bit off this week. No new books and I'm getting tired of listing rereads because THAT list is getting ridiculous. lol

Did read a couple of new e-books, which was nice. :)

I can't wait to read Shalador's Lady and for shiloh I am very envious of your having access to Archangel's kiss... I want to get my hands on those books soooo much my hands are tingling. I've been haunting the bookstores around where I live. If a book doesn't have a firm set in stone (lawsuit will be filed if not followed) release date then when the books come in they are usually placed on the shelves. With Archangel's Kiss due to be released in about a week it could hit the shelves anytime. I
I just finished reading the Born in trilogy by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I am never disappointed by her books. I'm rereading LKH for the next book Flirt that will be out soon.
Nalini, Anne Bishop and Laurell K Hamilton are in my list for top 5 favorite authors... I can't narrow the list down any further but I don't even need to know what the story is about, as long as they are writing I know I'll enjoy the story.

I am so insanely jealous of you right now - I ADORE the Black Jewels series and simply can't get enough of Daemon and Jaenelle. SIGH, March cannot come too soon.

Currently am reading Lucy A Snyder's SPELLBENT and just finished Gena Showalter's TWICE AS HOT. The latter was SO worth the wait - it was fantastic!

I just finished books 1-7 of the Morganville Vampires series. I read the first 2 and immediately ordered the rest. Honestly they kinda remind me of the early Anita Blake books. NO they aren't Anita Blake for kids but they have action and angst and the vampires are deadly and might hurt you at anytime.

Just started on Spellbent by Lucy A. Snyder. So far I like it but I'm only 140 pages in :) I'm waiting to get my tax return back. I have decided that I'm going to preorder all my must have books through May. All the shiny new things! It's about $200 total but I won't have to worry about putting them in my budget as they come out. Plus it will be nice to get packages coming in out of the blue almost.
