Mega Book Club!

This post is sticky. Scroll down for newer posts.

I've put on my traveling shoes and am off to see a little bit more of the world!

I'm hoping to post while I travel, but since my Internet access is likely to be sporadic over the coming weeks, I thought I'd pin a mega book club post to the top of the blog - just like Friday Book Club, except bigger and with even more books to add to your tbr pile ;-)

It's all about sharing the book love, so I hope you'll all have fun talking about the books you're enjoying at the moment. I'm hoping to make a dent in my own to-be-read pile during my trip, so I should have some recs for you when I return!

Have fun and be safe Nalini!

Ooh, I'm excited, especially since I missed last Friday's book club. I recently read Four Dukes and a Devil, it an anthology with five writers, three are historical romances, and two paranormal. It was really good. I also read Coyote's Mate by Lora Leigh and Eve of Chaos by S.J. Day. Now I'm working on Blood Promise.

Hey, Nalini! Hope your trip goes great! And that you get some sleep, hehe. Gotta keep our fave writer healthy so she can get out those books we devour and love, hehe.
Me, just reading a Harlequin Presents right now. Not that into it. But listening to a Lisa Whitaker's "Talk of the Town" on audio. It's funny and very good, especially if you're from a small town like me, hehe.
Have a great day, everyone!

I hope you have a wonderful time Nalini!

NiNi - it was good. Very complicated, but good :)

I've just ordered Sherrilyn Kenyons Soard of Darnkess and Linda Howards Death Angel.

Oh and I finished Sherrilyn Kenyons Phantom in the nigth....not bad but she did better.

Just finished Patricia Briggs' "Hunting Ground". Lurrrved it!

Also read Christine Feehan's "Dark Slayer". I enjoyed it more than most books in the series. Mainly because the female is Carpathian and knows what it means to have a lifemate, so she's not struggling against her "lack of choice" so strongly.

Started Jayne Castle's "Obsidian Prey" and can already tell it's going to be a keeper.

And I am fretting and waiting on "Must Love Hellhounds" to come out in an e-format other than Adobe. Why do they punish us e-geeks and make us wait longer than the paperback readers??? :-)

I'm currently rereading Kresley Cole's "Dark Needs at Night's Edge". Love it! Have a great weekend, everyone!

FInished Must Love Hellhounds this week. Great anthology! I'll be reading Meljean Brooks Guardian series also... glad to hear it's good and complex. :)

Other than that I read 2 more category romances by Raeanne Thayne and enjoyed them... I think I'll be done with categories for a bit, though. *g*

Started reading Never Love a Lawman by Jo Goodman and just received The Golden City by John Twelve Hawks, so now I'm dividing my time between the two. :)

I recently read Ravenous by Sharon Ashwood. Very nice book by a new author that features a witch + vampire pairing. I enjoyed it a lot and am looking forward to the next in the series.
I also reread an old favorite, Hustle Sweet Love by Maggie Davis. Definitely my all-time favorite book, it makes me laugh whenever I read it. Definitely worth reading.
Also read Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan. Wish it had more romance between the hero and heroine, but the action and twists that occurred make it a must-have for the bookshelf, as it moves the plot ahead a great deal. Nice books all.

Anybody got any recs for ebooks - from the epubs?
I need to try some new authors.

Una said...

I am not a ebook person, sorry! But I know you can get Sherrilyn Kenyon and Gena Showalter in ebooks and they are great authors.

I finished Blood Promise by Richelle Mead and it was really good. I've started Strange Brew a collection of short stories most notably; Charline Harris, Jim Butcher and Patricia Briggs. So far, I am really enjoying it.

I am still re-reading immortals after dark...finished conrads book. Can´t wait till november when finally murdochs book is realeased!

Snap Una :) I'm currently reading the Patricia Briggs novella in Strange Brew. I'm also reading DawnKeepers (Jessica Andersen). I'm enjoying it, but a couple of things have pulled me out of the story...specifially a brand name that I had to look up to work out what i was!

Recently devoured Patricia Briggs’ Hunting Ground. One of my new favorite books by an all time favorite author. Also the new book Heros at Risk by Moira J. Moore. It’s number 4 in the fun series that started with Resenting the Hero.

Ha, I just started Hunting Ground. I really enjoyed Strange Brew. I've added it to my "must purchase" list.

I've been reading the Final Prophecy series and I enjoy it, but I find it doesn't hold me like some other writers/series. Her references to brands and the extraneous descriptions and monologues (to me) loose some of the intensity of the plot. But the mythology is really great.

Hey, Nalini! Glad you're enjoying yourself! Awesome pics, btw!
I just finished "Some Like It Wicked" by Teresa Medeiros while I was sick with an absessed tooth. Despite the drugs, the book still had me laughing in between the naps me and my kitty were "forced" to take, hehe.
Not sure what I'll read next. Maybe Cindy Gerard.
Have fun!

PB - I hope you are feeling better now...and I'm sure your kitty just loved those nap times :)

Una - am so hanging out to read Hunting Ground. And I completely agree with you about The Final Prophecy series. I love the mythology, but I agree with you about the brands. I went on a little rant when I read the word OnStar and had to look it up to work out what it was...and the thing is, it didn't even add anything to the story! I will read the next book though (I *heart* my library) because I'm invested in Rabbit and Anna!

Now I've started HaveMercy (fantasy), which is *thinks* similar to Sarah Monette's books (although I *heart* Sarah Monette). Am really enjoying it!

Orianna, I am the same, (thank goodness for my library, I'd be broke without it)and will read the next Final Prophecy book. I really want to see what happens with Rabbit and Anna!

Hunting Ground was GREAT! I even read the graphic novel that was release: Mercy Thompson's Homecoming (it's a prequel to the series) and was outstanding. I so can't wait for the Dabel brothers to do another with Patricia Briggs.

Now I am FINALLY reading Must Love Hellhounds. Nalini's story was outstanding (not that I expected less). It was WONDERFUL story. I have Ilona's next.

I read Kissed by an Angel
It´s about Tristan and Ivy. When Tristan dies in a car accident Ivy is very very sad. But Tristan returns as an angel because the accident wasn´t really an accident and he has to protect Ivy before he can go to heaven. The story is very touching and I cried a lot. At the same time it is thrilling because you want to know who is after Ivy and why. I recommend the book to all twilight reader but the others will probably enjoy it as much as i did, too.

I'm reading Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress series, but I realize now I started with book 3--but it works.

I've read Angel's Judgment from Must Love Hellhounds, finally! It was a fabulous read, sort of a snack in between full books.

Currently I'm into Sandra Brown, I've read Smoke Screen and am reading Smash Cut. Both are very good reads.

So glad you are having lots of fun, Nalini!
I am currently reading Tessa Dare's "Goddess of the Hunt" and am enjoying reading it very much. It's very witty and amusing!
Also waiting with batted breathe for "Must Love Hellhounds" to be delivered from Amazon.
Have a great trip!

Earlier this week I finidshed HaveMercy (Jaida Jones & Danielle Bennett) and I've just (this morning) finished reading Hunting Ground (Patricia Briggs), both of which were excellent!

And I've just started Cast in silence (Michelle Sagara). A plethora of reading riches :)

Tiona said...

Nalini, glad you're still having a great time!
Just finished Lora Leigh's "Megan's Mark". Though not as good as your changelings, it was still good!
Have a great time! Can't wait to hear where you've been next.

Sounds like a fun trip, hope you're enjoying it!
I just finished reading What Happens in London and I gotta say I love the humor in the book. It had several scenes that really made me laugh out loud.
I am just about to start Lisa Kleypas new book and Hunting Ground.

Loved Must Love Hellhounds and now I'm burning through the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn about Kitty the werewolf. Yup, it's pretty good, very interesting mythology - some dark humor, some wit and edgier paranormal/darker portrayal in some ways of werewolves. I'm on the last one out at the moment, Kitty Raises Hell.
