I've got another book for you that I enjoyed, one that has a hook unlike any other thriller I've read - the narrator is a serial killer. But he's a good serial killer - he only kills other serial killers.
It's a little creepy (ok sometimes a lot creepy) but this book also has a sort of dark humor. Dexter is a very engaging narrator - certainly not one you can forget. He's the nice guy you'd never pick as a homicidal maniac (his description of himself). Since this book is told in the first person, it's an extremely interesting ride. Pick it up if you want something different.
I have to thank Bam for bringing this book to my attention. If you want a more in-depth review, have a read of hers.
Have you read anything recently that was just so "different" it stuck in your mind?

I haven't read it recently (it was about ten years ago, I think) but a similar book that you might like is PERFUME. They've a movie coming out about it soon, but the book is just incredibly -- beautifully written...and with a serial killer as the protagonist. Not quite as charismatic as Dexter (I'm guessing ... I've not read it yet) but still pulls you along by the writing, and the sheer oddness of the character.
Perfume is by Patrick Suskind. It's on my wish list too.
I like Dexter muchly too.
Oh and to answer the question in your last post, cross your fingers for me, and I will end up reading economics in the UK.
Meljean - thanks for the tip. I just looked it up and it sounds awesome.
May - good luck! I have quite a few friends working in the UK and they love it.
Dexter sounds interesting I'll definitely look it up thanks.
Good luck with coming to the UK May, it's nice here ;)
I have been hooked on the new series, though haven't tackled any of the books yet.
