Catch-Up Time

Alt Text: Collage of dahlia photos - two photos of individual pink flowers, one with petals of deep pink bleeding into white, other flower of white centre deepening into blush pink at the outer petals, plus a photo of a bouquet of dahlias in mixed colours.

What are you up to as we ease our way out of 2025 and into 2026? 💕

I did a full tidy up of my study, ready to start new projects and continue current ones. Today, I’m wrangling the dahlia garden thanks to a windstorm yesterday.

Your turn! 😊

I cleaned my stove and replaced the drip pans and burner elements for an electric cook top. I cook a lot, so it just seemed fitting that I replaced them. I'm also going to sharpen all my knives. I do this every new year. I hone them throughout the year to keep the cutting edge sharp.

New Year's Eve, I'm making homemade pizza. Pizza is a long standing tradition for me from when I was young. The rest of my family, when they were alive, liked pickled herring in wine sauce. I tried it once and almost threw up. Ugh. So, I chose pizza as my go to New Year eats.

I am behind choosing books to place on my Must Read list for 2026. I like to plan little challenges for myself as a way of "shopping" in my TBR Mountain. I used to pick an author or two to read their entire backlist, but I am out of authors I consider favorites unless I find more. LOL. So instead I am chipping away at shorter series or trilogies by new-to -me authors I already own all of.

I need to do some deep cleaning, but that will have to wait until school resumes so I don't have my grandniece all day. We are going to see a movie tomorrow.

New Year's Day was my mom's birthday so it's still rather bittersweet for me. My plan is to stay home.
