Ashwini reminded me that we're sending out a newsletter this week. I haven't had a chance to write a new short story for it, but I have lots of exclusive never-before-seen excerpts. The question is, which excerpt do you want?

Glimpse of Allegiance of Honor

When I first started writing Allegiance of Honor, I thought it would be a fun book filled with updates on the main characters (and a few others). I forgot how nothing in this world ever stands still. So what I ended up writing was a book that updates us on the characters but also moves the plot forward significantly - including a humdinger of a curve ball no one saw coming.

Now that I've teased you unmercifully, here's a glimpse of one of the fun catchup moments in the book. Hope you love it!

Excerpt from ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR

Out June 14, 2016

Lucas had had to chase Naya around the aerie at bedtime last night—her walk might still be a little shaky, but she was a rocket when it came to crawling. Dressed only in a diaper, she’d laughed uproariously and said a loud, firm “No” each time Lucas caught her and put her in her crib.

After which she’d clamber out—she’d figured out how to escape a month earlier—and the game would begin again. 

Of course, since Lucas was a cat, he’d been having just as much fun as their daughter. Sascha, meanwhile, had sat in the living room with a cup of hot chocolate and just indulged in the sight of her mate playing with their cub.

She’d had to pretend to be stern when Naya ran over and pleaded her case with loud sounds and wild gesticulations of her hands. “No, Naya,” she’d said, biting her tongue in an effort not to laugh. “It’s time for bed. Go with Papa.”

At which point, Naya had growled at her, eyes sparkling with mischief.

And Sascha had cracked, laughing so hard she’d had to put down her hot chocolate before she spilled it. Lucas had shaken his head as Naya plopped down on her diaper-covered butt and joined in, clapping her hands at having made her mommy laugh. 

“No discipline.” Lucas had mock-growled at her before picking up their misbehaving baby. “And you”—a growly nuzzle that made Naya laugh harder and pat his stubbled cheek—“time for bed.”

He’d finally got her to sleep—by walking around with her pressed up against his bare chest.

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope it's an amazing one for all of us.

Lots of good stuff coming up this year - the Shards of Hope paperback is now out and the ebook price has also dropped.

My next release will likely be Abe's book in the Rock Kiss series (no exact date yet, but I'm working hard on it!).

After that will be Allegiance of Honor, followed by Wild Embrace (featuring all new Psy-Changeling stories), then will come the next Guild Hunter novel (more info to come within the next months as I write it). 

Also of course, you'll continue to get free short stories and exclusive deleted scenes through the newsletter. The final 2015 newsletter went out a couple of days ago and it included a new Psy-Changeling story.

Writing Update

I'm continuing to edit/revise the draft of ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR. Interestingly enough, many of the elements / couples you all want to see have been part of the book from the very start, some in ways you might not expect.

But as you can guess, not everything/everyone will make it into this book. Still, overall, I'm very happy with how many people we get to see! I hope you will be too!!

Now back to it I go! Fortified by the groceries I picked up this morning. :D

Writing Update

Writing update: I'm halfway through the semi-final draft of Allegiance of Honor and still adding/deleting as I go. LOTS happening in this book - there's so many connections between the characters. 

Which character would you love to see an update for??

I just deleted* 16,000 words (64 pages). Excuse me while I go sit in a corner and cry.

Update: 16,000 is now 20,000 (80 pages). On the flip side, I am much happier with this lean and mean book. Promise. Tears are past ;)

p.s. *Actually I put them in a Deleted Scenes file just in case.
