The Friday Book Club is now open!
I've had a special request from a reader who wondered if everyone could share their top five favorite series, so please give her some good recommendations! And also, let us know what you're reading this week.

Gosh, the only series I've read are Guild Hunter and Psy-Changeling besides one other that didn't have a strong finish. So I guess they are my favorites by default, but I still love them.
As for what I'm reading right now, I am reading Life after Life for our local book club. It's very interesting.
Gosh. Only five???? Oh the pain....
Okay. I'm gonna cheat and not list Nalini's Psy Changeling and Guild Hunter series coz, duh, they go without saying *g*
In no particular order:
1. Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
2. The Hollows series by Kim Harrison
3. Weather Wardens series by Rachel Caine
4. Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow
5. Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
Honestly, though, my list would be substantial if there was no limit -- soooo many series I left off this list *sad face*. Plus, I could do another list of favorite YAs, too. Some outstanding series on my keeper shelves....
In no particular order, favorite series-
-- Liaden Universe by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller
-- Psy-Changeling & Guild Hunter by Nalini Singh
-- Miles Vorkosigan, Wide Green World, & Chalion by Lois Bujold
-- 1632 series by Eric Flint
-- Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
-- Dark books by Christine Feehan
-- Dresden Files & Codex Alera by Jim Butcher
Yes, I cheated with too many series, too.
Re-reading Heart of Obsidian, 1632 series, and Night Broken (Mercy Thompson) by Patricia Briggs
Besides Nalini's series - which are amazing!
Not ranked just listed.
1. Immortals After Dark - Kresley Cole (super entertaining)
2. In Death - JD Robb
3. Elder Races - Thea Harrison
4. Kate Daniels - Ilona Andrews
5. Beautiful ... - Christina Lauren
Honorable mention to Christine Feehan, Catherine Bybee,Lyndsay Sands, Patricia Briggs and Suzanne Wright to name a few more.
J.R Ward The Black Dagger Brotherhood series
Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunter series
Anne Bishop The Others series
JD Robb In Death series
Jacquelyn Frank The Nightwalkers & The Shadowdwellers series
Just finished Meljean Brookes novella Mina Wentworth and the Invisible City which features Rhys and Mina from the Iron Duke. It was wonderful to catch up with this couple again. They are my favorite from this series.
As for recommendations apart from Nalini's wonderful Psy Changeling and Guild Hunter series:)
I'm assuming paranormal romance genre. I enjoyed the following in no particular order;
Demonica/Lords of Deliverance series by Larissa Ione
The Warriors of Poseidon series by Alyssa Day
The Lost Angels series by Heather Killough-Walden
Iron Seas series by Meljean Brooke
Eternal Mates series and Her Angel series by Felicity Heaton
Best of luck and happy reading!
I would list the Guild Hunter and Psy/Changeling series, but I'm guessing you already read those since your on Nalini Singh's blog. (But they are definitely my top picks.) Other than these though, I love:
1. J.R Ward's The Black Dagger Brotherhood series (Paranormal Romance)
2. Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series (Fantasy/Paranormal Romance)
3. Jennifer Ashley's Mackenzie series (Historical Romance)
4. Anne Bishop's Dark Jewel series (Dark Fantasy)
5. Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress/Night Prince/Night Huntress World series (Urban Fantasy - technically marketed as separate series, but it got repeat character and connected storylines so it should actually be one BIG series.)
Can I also give a shout-out to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series? (This is Fantasy, but the romance between Kahlan and Richard is EPIC, and Kahlan is an amazingly strong female character.)
I know, I've cheated by listing like 7 different series in this, but they are all so good that it's honestly hard to choose.

Only five!? There's so many!!
Nalini Singhs books go without saying.
1. Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones
2. Mercy Thompson series and Omega and Alpha series by Patricia Briggs (also love Masques, Wolfsbane, and the Hob's Bargain)
3. Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
4. Drake sister series and Dark series by Christine Feehan (also love the Scarletti Curse)
5. The Hathaways series and the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas (I love so many of her books!)
Shout out to Katie MacAlister, Jeaniene Frost, Jill Shalvis, Kerrelyn Sparks, Jennifer Ashley, Robyn Peterman, and there are so many more authors that I haven't named!
I am reading Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis.
Aside from Nalini's book, these are pretty awesome too:
Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels
Kresley Cole - Immortals After Dark
Nancy Gideon - By Moonlight
Thea Harrison - Elder races
Larrissa Ione - Demonica/Lords of Deliverance
Shout out to JD Robb - In Death - not a paranormal but still awesome
My top five series are (also in no particular order):
1. Larissa Iones Demonica/LoD series
2. Nalini Singhs Psy/Changeling series
3. Nalini Singhs Guild Hunter series
4. Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld series
5. Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series
Good to see a couple people had listed I wasn't familiar with, so will search them out.
Too hard to order so not in order
1. Psy/Changeling (Nalini Singh)
2. Guild Hunter (Nalini Singh)
3. Immortal Guardians (Dianne Duvall)
4. Kate Daniels (Ilona Andrews)
5. Mercy Thompson & Alpha & Omega (Patricia Briggs)
[Can't not mention Charlie Davidson (Darynda Jones), Jane Yellowrock (Faith Hunter), Night Huntress (Jeaniene Frost) I even want to list more!
In no particular order
Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh
Dragon Kin by G. A. Aiken
Furry United Coalition by Eve Langlais
Dirk and Steele by Marjorie M. Liu
Dragon Knights by Bianca D'arc
Only 5, so difficult!
Psy-Changeling (Nalini Singh)
In death series (JD Robb)
Dark series (Christine Feehan)
The Others series (Anne Bishop)
The League series (Sherrilyn Kenyon)
Ok, since the Guild Hunter and Psy/Changeling series goes without saying and I've seen many other of my favourite series already listed several times I will concentrate on some of my favourites not mentioned so far.
As always, in no particular order:
1. Lara Adrian - Midnight Breed (her historicals are older but great, too. Can't say anything about her Dragon Chalice books, since I'm only reading the first one currently)
2. Sydney Croft - ACRO
3. Kerstin Gier - The Ruby Red Trilogy (YA but sooo sweet!)
4. Brent Weeks - Night Angel (Fantasy, but great!)
5. Joanna Wylde - Reaper's MC (you won't fully appreciate the series if you aren't into MC books, and it's still nothing for the weak minded, but Miss Wylde is one of the very few MC authors who do the genre justice by doing actual research on the culture instead of relying on often false stereotypes and prejudices. Oh, and the cover model for the second book -Reaper's Legacy- is the same as for Archangel's Storm! :) )
~Jana
Just five? Tough, but I'll try. Other than those by Nalini Singh:
1. Nightwalker/Shadowdweller/World of the Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank
2. Feral Warriors by Pamela Palmer
3. Sentinel Wars by Shannon K. Butcher
4. Black Dagger Brotherhood by J. R. Ward
5. Special Crimes Unit by Kay Hooper
I'd also like to give a shout out to J. D. Robb's In Death books.
Right now, I'm reading Night Pilgrims by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Journeying through the Nubian Desert with our beloved Count and the ever faithful Rogerian.
1. Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong (and her Nadia Strafford trilogy)
2. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews
3. Mercedes Thompson by Patricia Briggs (and her Alpha and Omega series)
4. Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz
5. Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands
Cheated a little and will also suggest upcoming series where the 2nd books will be out sometime this year
1. The Bone Season - Samantha Shannon
2. Age of X Series - Richelle Mead
3. Cainsville series - Kelley Armstrong
Oh and my choice excluded my actual number 1's of Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter. And they weren't in any particular order
Aside from Nalini's books
1. Laurann Dohner (she is just amazing)
2. Katy Evens - real series
3. Ilona Andrew- Kate Daniels
4. Lara Adrian
5. Lori Handeland - Night Creatures
I am reading the Grave Mercy by Robin Lafevers. :D It's really good historical romance, and I think this series will be one of my TOP 3 :)
1. Guild Hunter :D (what else!)
2. Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance (Pritkin forever *-*)
3. Grave Mercy (His Fair assassin series by Robin LaFevers
4.Cat and Bones series by Jeaniene Frost
Hmm.. I love The Hathaways series and Lisa Kleypas and I still don't know what I do with Karen Marie Moning and her Fever series...
Have a nice week-end!
Alexandra
♥ Psy-Changelings
♥ Guild Hunters
♥ Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR WARD
♥ GhostWalkers by Christine Feehan
♥ Chocolate ~Both Series~ by Laura Florand
Not in any particular order
Jill Shalvis is cool ~ she gets me LOL a lot ~
just finished her FOREVER AND A DAY ♥
Yup ~ I do have tons of ♥ to give :)
Aside from Nalini's book,
also in no particular order:
1. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews
2. Guardians of Eternity by Alexandra Ivy
3. Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall
4. Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian
5. The Fallen series & the Nightwatch series & the Midnight Trilogy by Cynthia Eden
I've cheated by listing like 7
series, but they are all so good
This week I'm starting to re-read the Psy-Changeling series.
And my top 5 favorite series are: (leaving out Nalini's two series, because that's obvious)
Eve Silver's Otherkin series
Lisa Kleypas's Wallflowers series
Ilona Andrews's Magic series
Shana Abe's Drakon series
Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series
Meljean Brook's Iron Seas series
Kristen Callihan's Darkest London series
Everything by Meredith Duran
Thea Harrison's Elder Races series
Elizabeth Hoyt's Maiden Lane series
Okay...I got carried away. :) But I didn't want to leave any of these out.
In no order:
- Eileen Wilks (World of the Lupi)
- Patricia Briggs (Mercedes Thompson)
- Ilona Andrews (anything - but start with Kate Daniels)
- (going off genre) George R.R. Martin (Song of Fire and Ice, aka Game of Thrones)
- (still off genre) J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) (In Death)
I have read (and enjoyed) Thea Harrison's Elder Races, everythingby anne bishop, JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, Christine Feehan, Lisa Kleypas' Wallflowers and Hathaways and Mel Jean brooks iron seas and cat and bones series.
My top 5 favourite paranormal romance series are:
- Nalini's Guild Hunter and Psy Changeling
- ilona Andrews Edge and Kate Daniels series. Also totally loving Inkeeper
- Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega and mercy Thompson (though my fave books ever by her is the Dragon Bones series but they are straight fantasy)
- I love Deborah Geary's modern Witch series though not 100% sure what genre it is... Maybe urban fantasy. The first book in the series 'a modern witch' is the authors first book and can be a bit hard to get into/confusing. Try 'to have and to code', a prequel to the series and a much better representation of the quality of the authors writing within the series.
OK that's more than 5 series but if it's by the same author it doesn't really count right?
Okay, so kind of confused how no one has mentioned the following amazing book series: Jane Yellowrock by Faith Hunter
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
Pride series by Shelly Laurenston
But really the first two are must reads :) Not that I'm not a fan of a lot of the previously mentioned but these are great books.
A little off topic, but I recently read The Debt & the Doormat series---absolutely hilarious!
= )
My favourite are as follows:
1. Guildhunter/ Psy-Changelling
2. In Death JD Robb
3. Arcane/ Harmony JAK etc
4. Troubleshooters Suzanne Brockmann
5. The Bastion Club, Stephanie Laurens
And not a series but absolutely anything by Jennifer Crusie, Love Love Love
1)
Nalini Singhs Psy/Changeling series
2)
Nalini Singhs Guild Hunter series
3)
Sylvia Days Crossfire series
4)
Terry Goodkinds The Sord of Truth series
5)
Catherine Taylors The Line series (with Master)
Since you are here on, I'm assuming you area already familiar with the awesomeness that is Psy-Changling and Guild Hunters. There are some fabulous series listed already (by the followi authors: Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, JR Ward, Larissa Ione, Lara Adrian, Meljean Brook, Jeannine Frost) so I'm going to cheat and list some that haven't been mentioned.
1. Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk (urban fantasy with magic, somewhat dark) with a two book spin off called Broken Magic series.
2. A new series I found that is really good called the Earthbound Angels series by Elizabeth Corrigan - very good urban fantasy with Angels and Demons. Only two books released so far.
3. American Vampire series by M.L. Brennan, first book is called Generation V. Only two books out so far, but a very well written urban fantasy with a reluctant vampire hero.
4. London Undead trilogy by P.J. Schnyder - fun and sexy paranormal romance with shifters and zombies. Final book is coming out this month.
5. Finally a more sci-fi urban fantasy called Mindpsace Investigations by Alex Hughes, first book is Clean. Very interesting futuristic urban fantasy.
Hope you enjoy one of them!

The Gray Court and True Destiny series - Dana Marie Bell
Night Stalkers - M.L. Buchman
KGI - Maya Banks
I just finished re-reading Archangel's Legion and cannot wait for the next book.
O.K. I'm going to go off the beaten path a little here, because most of my favorite urban fantasy series have been mentioned already. These are mostly older books and not all UF or PR. I also have trouble sticking to 5 so wish me luck.

Well the list could go on and on.
Between new reads as have been working on the yard now that spring has finally decided to appear.
My five favorite series (I'm assuming the reader already reads the Psy/Changeling series so leaving that one off my list):
1) In Death series by JD Robb
2) Black Ops Inc/One-Eyed Jacks series by Cindy Gerard (the main Black Ops Inc characters were introduced in the last book of her Bodyguard series, then the series morphed into One-Eyed Jacks)

Eileen Wilks - World of the Lupi
Thea Harrison - Elder Races
Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson
Christine Feehan - Any
I'd also recommend Larissa Ione, Lara Adrian, Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Nora Roberts/JD Robb

Night huntress, Night Prince, Huntress World - Jeaniene Frost
Demonica/Lords of Deliverance – Larissa Ione.
Dark-Hunter- Chronicles of Nick - Sherrilyn Kenyon (Nick is technically a young adult series, but you get to know a lot of the characters from the Dark Hunter world as being younger and its great fun)

Ok, I know! I cheated twice! The authors and series I listed above are the ones I wait for in the agony of withdrawl when I reach the end of their books, realizing that I've got to wait 6 months to 3 years for my next 'fix.' If you're reading Nalini's books then you know exactly what I mean!
I'm currently listening to Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series (great audiobook narrator). I'm a nerdy knitter, so I read a lot and listen to lots of audiobooks. :)
Happy hunting!!
Another great author - if you like contemporary romance - is Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She has a series about football players I love that begins with "It Had to Be You".
Ok truthfully I don't do much series as I love strong characters but here goes, of course in no particular order:
1. Psy/Changling by Nalini Singh (my personal fav)
2. Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole
3. The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
4. Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov
So many faves already mentioned - Christine Feehan, Patrica Briggs, Thea Harrison, J.R. Ward and Nalini Singh #1 fave. I would also suggest the following;

Way more than 5, I know, but these are authors I have been following for years and I didm't even include those new ones with only one or two books out. What ever you pick - enjoy.
Shelly Laurenston - Pride series
Mary Calmes - A Matter of Time series
Thea Harrison - Elder series
Megan Derr - Dance with the devil series
