The Friday Book Club is now open! What are you reading and loving this week?
I'm in a light, witty historical mood reading-wise, so I might go hunting a new historical. (Recommendations welcome!)

I started the week with Andre Norton, followed by some fairy tale slash fiction. I think I'll spend the weekend re-reading your Guild Hunter series :-}
For historicals with a paranormal twist, try Christina Skye's Draycott Abbey series. There's no particular order, but it starts with either the novel Hour of the Rose or the shorts in Draycott Eternal. I also adore Amanda Quick's (Jayne Ann Krentz) historicals.
It's not exactly "light" but have you read Courtney Milan's The Heiress Effect? The heroine is very, er, outspoken. And her carefully calculated insults combined with her deliberately appalling taste in clothes make for a very memorable character. Plus I've recently finished The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand... LOVED!
If you want something sexy with an edge, go for Kate Pearce's "Simply" series.
Loretta Chace is my default historical author. The Dressmaker Series just cracks me up every time.
I just finished Charming by Elliot James which I quite enjoyed. It reminded me of a cross between Jim Butchers Harry Dresden series and Kevin O'Hearnes Iron Druid Chronicles. Finished The Last Hour Of Gann earlier in the week which I am still trying to process, loved the first half but boy, the second half was intense. Next up is Shooting Scars by Karina Halle. Have a great weekend :)
Jo
Something a little different try
Tammy Falkner has historical fairies.
I'm re-reading that sexy archangel Raphael, getting ready for Archangel's Legion. :)
As for historicals, I'd recommend Danelle Harmon's Montforte series (I love all of them, but the last one, Lucien's book is great. The man is so wicked! And the first is free on Amazon) and Ronda Thompson's Wild Wulfs of London (this is a paranormal).
I am rereading a JD Robb Eve Dallas book, then onto a Christine Warren book. As for historicals my default author is always Amanda Quick AKA Jayne Ann Krentz AKA Jayne Castle. I just reread her latest Mystery Woman,
Starting my reread of the Guild Hunters! I really enjoy Sarah MacLean or Eloisa James historicals, Stephanie Laurens also.
Re-reading some oldies, waiting for your book.
Currently reading The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith, and like Jo mentioned the second half is pretty heavy. I think I'm going to follow up with Bold Tricks by Karina Halle.
Samantha
I am also reading GH series in preparation for Archangel's Legion, but also working my way back through Barbara Metzger Regency series. They are fab more traditional than the sexy Stephanie Laurens etc, but terrific charactors. Try Lord Heartless, one of my favourites.
I read and very much enjoyed Laura Lee Gurhke's "When the Marquess Met His Match." The characters didn't have dark pasts, which is nice with some many characters with massive baggage.
"Wee William's Woman" by Suzan Tisdale is a sweet Highlander romance. (The heroine's baggage is an abusive husband, but the romance focuses on hero and heroine.)
Julian Quinn's "The Viscount Who Loved Me" (Bridgerton, #2) is very cute! (The hero's baggage includes a bee phobia.)

This week I'm struggling through a western historical. Only 6% left to read. Then I'll try Jennifer Delamere's historical romance "A Lady Most Lovely,"
I've been rereading Kristen Ashley while waiting for books to release - the end of October and beginning of November are looking very good!
As for historicals, I've really enjoyed Miranda Davis. The first on is called The Duke's Tattoo: A Regency Romance of Love and Revenge, Though Not in That Order and the second is called The Baron's Betrothal: An On-Again, Off-Again Regency Romance. Really, the titles got my attention, but the story kept my attention. I also enjoy Sarah MacLean.
Blood & Fire by Ally Shields (Guardian Witch #4) just released today so I'm reading that.
I just re-read Real by Katy Evans.
For a bit darker paranormal romance, Blood Shadows by Lindsay Pryor.
re-reading Nora Roberts' The Witness. for historicals, Amanda Quick, Jennifer Ashley's MacKenzies, Sarah MacLean
Nalini, if you're in a light, witty historical romance mood, can I suggest trying Maggie Robinson's IN THE ARMS OF THE HEIRESS? (Full disclosure: she's one of my cps.) But the book is so awesome as is the new one that just came out, IN THE HEART OF THE HIGHLANDER. I think you would like.
I recently finished Julie Miller's Immortal Heart. Debating if I want to tackle the uber long Last Hour of Gann or something else next.
For historicals, I love most of Amanda Quick's, especially the older one-word titles. Alissa Johnson is another favorite for the humor in her books.
Old Lynsay Sands historicals The Deed,The Key, or The Switch. Very Funny.
Some of my favorites-Oldies but still terrific.
The Tiger's Woman by Celeste De Blasis (not lighthearted)
Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas (funny and a complete tale)
Currently reading
Monster in My Closet
Pooka in My Pantry
Fairies in My Fireplace
Missing something but entertaining enough to keep reading.
Thanks for introducing Laura Florand's ♥
Chocolate Series ♥
I've only finished The Chocolate Thief & The Chocolate Kiss♥ I've so fallen in love with them all.
And have eaten tons of chocolate ~ as well as leaned to make chocolat chaud from scratch.
I don't read any historical stories ~
at all ~so ~ nothing to share with you.
Can't wait to READ more about
ARCHANGEL MICHAELA'S ANGEL BABY ♥
Right now I'm rereading Galen & Jessamy's story waiting for Archangel's legion to come out can't wait since Michaela is having a baby and since they talked about it before I wonder if and when a certain archangel and hunter are going to have one of their own :)
Thanks for the recs everyone! I ended up rereading a favorite, but I've made a note of these! I adore Amanda Quick and Lisa Kleypas's historicals, but some of the other recs are new to me :)
Not a historical, but I just finished in the latest in the Size 12 is not fat series by Meg Cabot. Definitely, light and charming...
Reading Dan Brown's Inferno.
...
Try Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger....its fun :-D
i adore the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn!!!!
Hey Nalini
I must recomed Scandalous Liaisons by Sylvia Day, and of course Pride and Pleasure. She is one of my other favorites!
Greetings, Marie from Denmark.
By the way: Waiting for my lesbian romance novels... not for long, I hope ;).
After Ms. Austen, My fall back is Georgette Heyer, who basically invented the regency genre. Also re-listened to JD Robb the Witness, and Deborah Harkness vampire modern/historical books..Discovery Of Witches and Shadow of Night (was inhospital) i think the two books may move beyond genre to classic lit in time. amazing work by a college professor of history, parts set in her own field area of circa 1600.
Check Suzanne Johnson's wonderful Sentinals Of New Orleans, which is paranormal, historical undead are fun major characters, and New Orleans food, hurricanes and history round them out. Will this new book match Archangel's Blade, or heart of Obsidian.., two of my lifetime favorite books...aargh. Kaleb.. Demitri.
LISA KLEYPAS...Love her!
The seduction of phaeton black by Jillian Stone. There are three of these n aughty cleaver smart historical steampunk. They remind me of Nalini's books because they feature smart heroines, and flawed alpha males. Best of all her world has diversity
