Just finished re-reading Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs, afterwards coincidently heard about the new excerpt up on her website for book 3: Fair Game XD Synchronicity!
I am currently Re-reading 'Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder' I love her Study Series and her Glass series and i cant wait to get my hands on her new book/series 'Touch of Power' Healer series. Have a great weekend! :D
Got my copy of Lothaire this week, devoured it, loved it...am v.happy that the IAD series is still going strong. Am after others opinion on Thea Harrisons Serpents Kiss - loved her first two (thanks for the tip Nalini) but am not sure I really want to read about Carling, who came across as a big time QueenB in Storms Heart. So should I buy the book? wait til it comes to the library?? or jump straight to Oracles Moon???
I started with the Guardian series by Meljean Brook, blew through She-Wolf by Elizabeth Morgan, and also loved the Velveteen vs. story (Seanan McGuire, on her website) I somehow missed.
I'm not currently reading anything *gasp* Did finish an arc by Stephanie Tyler called Dire Needs. Loooooved it!! February is going to kill me though since I'm eagerly awaiting Joan Swan's debut novel, Coreene Callahan's debut novel about dragons, as well as authors I like already Gena Showalter, A.C Arthur and J.D Tyler.
Just started the next Elemental book by Jennifer Estep. @Samantha - I really liked Thea Harrison's first 2 books, but Serpents Kiss fell short for me. I know some people who really liked it. The only problem is Oracle's Moon is based on events from Serpent's kiss so I don't know if things will be confusing. Did you know that she has a novella out set in the same world, but different characters. Loved it!
Personally, I loved Thea Harrison's Serpent's Kiss, which really is wonderful and sets up for future events. My advice is to not skip it! I'm definitely looking forward to Oracle's Moon. I've been rereading some of Rachel Lee's old Silhouette Intimate Moments books. I haven't been reading her lately because her books got too grim... I'm currently rereading an old anthology, On the Boardwalk for the Linda Howard short story, Blue Moon.
Just finished "Switched" by Amanda Hocking. It is the first book in her trilogy about the "Trylle" which is supposedly the origin of man's legends of trolls. The Trylle are a race of beautiful humanlike beings and the books centre around the princess, her loves and her difficult duties. Amanda Hocking is a good writer and the book has very few plot holes.
Just reread Julie James's "A Lot Like Love." Awaiting her next, "About That Night." Samanatha, I agree with what others are saying re: Serpent's Kiss. It is uneven, but you'll want to read it before Oracle's Moon. Carling isn't the issue in SK. Rune, who is wonderful in first 2 books, is a letdown. Or really it's Harrison who lets readers down. She falls into some trite romance gimmicks in SK. I have major love for Harrison, just not for her 3rd Elder Races novel.
@ Samantha: I hated Serpent's Kiss by Thea Harrison but loved the first 2 books. I found it hard to feel sorry for Carling who has lived thousands of years in the lap of luxury and now has a terminal illness. And Rune as the hero did some crazy things I did not like such as asking Carling to dress differently and wear makeup. Wow, that is so NOT an alpha male.
I did like the last 2 chapters of Serpent's Kiss which have the hero and heroine of the next book, Oracle's Moon. The hero is a genie (and he is hilarious) and the heroine is an oracle who is taking care of her dead sister's 2 kids. I say get Serpent's Kiss from the library and read a few pages, and decide for yourself.
I just finished reading Wild Card by Lora Leigh. I really liked the hero and heroine, and there were lots of alpha male moments. Also the love scenes were very hot.
I discovered an awesome new writer -- Kristen Ashley. Golden Dynasty was soooo good -- I want a Lahn of my own. Sweet Dreams and The Gamble runs you thru all the emotions-- you will laugh and cry, get really mad and well lets say a little ummmm... What can I say she creates some really really REALLY hot alpha males. She is one of my best discoveries of 2011 (But your still my fav!)
Thanks for heads up on Serpents Kiss. Consensus seems to be not a great book but important for continuity - and I really really liked the first two so Thea has some brownie points up her sleeve - so is back on the 'to-buy' list (good thing book budget has reset for the new year!). Will let you know how it goes :)
I'm re-reading Lisa Shearin's series about Raine Benares the "snarky elf chick," since her next one comes out in a couple of months. The first one is "Magic Lost, Trouble Found." They are really fun books, with the emphasis on fantasy rather than romance, although it plays a part. It's kind of funny; I discovered Lisa's books around the same time I found Nalini's and Ilona Andrews,(Kate Daniels series) and they've all become favorite authors.
After so many people mentioned Kresley Cole's Lothaire in the Friday book post, I had to try it out. I was not disappointed. Great Book! Thanks for the suggestion everyone!
I'm reading Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling's. It's written by the actress in the television series "The Office." The book is humorous.
Also, reading Crimson Wind by Diana Pharoah Francis.
@Jodi...I also read and liked Kristen Ashley. Her contemporary romances are on the erotic side and her alphas may not be for all readers, but I loved Lady Luck and enjoyed Sweet Dreams. The editing problems were sometimes challenging but her books were a worthy read.
I've just discovered Laurann Dohnor and Barbara Elsborg. Have really enjoyed Dohnor's mating series this week and just today I've started Strangers by Elsborg. It is very different from other romances and how the characters meet is definitely very original, but WOW!!! I look forward to seeing how it ends.
Um, I liked Serpent's Kiss. It did take a bit to get into it. Been reading Lothaire, Copper Beach, Archangel's Blade, Angels' Blood, Laurann Dohner's cyborg series, Moira Rogers. Will read Darker After Midnight, Patty Briggs, Shannon K Butcher. Thank you for Lisa Shearing and Barbara Elsborg recommendations.
Love the spy series however couldn't get finished angels blood. Started the series again starting with angles kiss and loved it, angels consort ending up feeling like I was reading jd Robb's eve and roadie characters in her "death" series. Liked dimitri so picked up archangel's blade. Just finished it and it was great. I can not wait for Jason's venom's story
I read Jo Nesbo`s Kakerlaken, Andrea Maria Schenkel´s Kalteis and Jonas Johnasson`s Der Hundertjährige, der aus dem Fenster stieg und verschwand (The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Stepped Out of the Window and Disappeared, eng: July 21, 2012).
I am trying to read Jacqylyn Frank's Noah but have bogged down. Need to finish so I can read Adam. Also waiting to get Dani Harper's Changeling Dawn to come in the mail so I can catch up on the series.
I finished Lothaire and would highly recommend it as a stand alone book...After reading the first 4 Kresley Cole books a couple of years ago, I stopped reading them after a while as all the characters not to mention the Valkeries started to merge into one..So glad I took a chance on Lothaire, so loved the 'Enemy of Old' and Elizabeth was such a fearless Heroine while being absolutely terrified of the thought of her imminent death (if that makes any sense)..
Also finished the last Hellion book by Sabrina Jefferies and now waiting for Third Grave dead ahead by Dyandra JonesJR Ward and Thea Harrisons new releases in March.
