Friday Book Club

Before we talk books, I have to share something. I met the fabulous Tess Gerritsen today at an RWNZ Conference event - she was so incredibly lovely that I'm even more of a fangirl now. If you love thrillers and haven't read Ms. Gerritsen, go forth and enjoy!

Onto the book club! What are you reading and loving at the moment?

I just finished Robin D. Owens "Heart Search" and once again she did not disappoint. I wondered how it would be to suddenly be 15 years in the future from the last book but she made the transition smoothly and brought back lots of the former characters so we could enjoy how their lives have grown as well. There is nothing like her "fams" and the new ones were lots of fun.
I highly recommend this book but you should read them
in order to fully understand the story line.

I just finished reading Hope's Folly & Rebel and Lovers by Linnea Sinclair. Great female characters in a space opera. No aliens in these 2 books but definitely some evil characters. I am hoping she will finish up the series soon. Her world building is wonderful. I highly recommend.

Sherrilyn Kenyon. Found one of her books and on a whim bought it. I have now gone through the majority of her Dark Hunter series in less then a week and can't wait to get another of the books. Just finished Acheron earlier today. I recommend the series to anyone. If you haven't read any of the books, read them all from the start or you will be completely confused. (And when you get to Acheron, be prepared to cry. It is a sad and dark book that will make you see how truely cruel people can be long before you get a happy romantic ending).

Finished Suzanne Brockmann's Breaking the Rules. I have to confess I didn't know how to read a normal story any longer!! LOL I kept asking myself if this was fiction. Things just happened like that?? Like a normal day to day events... both good & bad. It was a weird feeling not seeing anyone using special talents.. like mind control, telepathic connections, & etc.

I love the name Izzy <3
I bought that book because of that name alone.

It's a good read, definitely. But again, way out of my comfort zone!!

So I had to pick up Angels' Blood & reread the scene Elena had to shoot Raphael's wing... through to the final page!! YEAH!!!
That made me happy!!
That's my kind of book!!

If you enjoy reading books where you can revisit familiar characters from book to book - like in both of Nalini's series and also J.R. Ward's Brotherhood series - then Suzanne Brockmann's military romantic/suspense books are great. However, yes, they are REAL life books with characters lacking in superpowers, but heroes, nonetheless. Finished Leslie Parrish's Black CATS trilogy this week (Fade to Black, Pitch Black, & Black at Heart). Especially loved bk. 3 because it featured Wyatt - sexy w/tortured past - and Lily who was so sweet & innocent in the first 2 books. Horrible things happened to her so she toughens up...GREAT, but not paranormal like the "Cold" series. Also finished Darynda Jones' 2nd Grave on the Left...laughed like a hyena - although without the unpleasant scavenger behavior! The exclusive ebook story "For I Have Sinned" is great, too.
