Friday Book Club

Time to talk books!

I've recently "discovered" Anne Gracie and fallen in love. The Perfect Rake was just a wonderful read - sweet and witty and romantic, but what really got me was that the hero of this book, Gideon, (the rake of the title), had a kindness to him that we rarely ever see in world-weary rakes. The heroine, Prudence, was smart and loving and well able to take on Gideon - I plain out liked her.

Very much recommended.

Now, your turn! What are you reading and loving this week?

Read Victoria Dahl for the first time, which is a shame. Hot, hot, hot! And hysterically funny too!

Guess what?!?! I'm going to be at Lori Foster's event next month!!! Whee! I get to meet you! Finally! *happy dance* :D

Oops...sorry if that sounded stalkerish. Wasn't my intent. :D

And when I said it's a shame...it's a shame I waited so long. Eesh...I'm tired. *yawn*

I read Gideon: 2 (Nightwalkers) by Jacquelyn Frank, A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark)by Kresley Cole and What a Dragon Should Know by G. A. Aiken. All three books very good. Now I started with Archangel's Kiss.

I love Anne Gracie, too. Accidental Wedding is the best of her books that I've read so far, but I like all the others, too.

I just finished Anne Mallory's One Night is Never Enough, which was really great. A very intense and exciting romance.

I just finished Savage Nature by Christine Feehan, and today I'm buying Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison. On Ms. Singh's recommendation, I went on Ms. Harrison's website and read the first chaper which was posted! Already hooked!

Right now, Born of Shadows by Sherrilyn Kenyon, next it's the new Amanda Quick, followed by Kiss of Snow at the end of the month!

Today I am reading Nalini Singh's Branded by Fire. Honestly, it's my favorite Psy-Changeling novel so far!

Finishing it today, so will have to choose something else tasty to read from my never-ending TBR pile. I'll certainly be reading Shimerspell by Kimberly Spencer.

I read Dragon Bound and loved it. Now I am trying to decide if I want to start Hard Bitten or not. I have heard the book is good, but apparently the ending is enough to make you want to torch your book. So, I guess I have to decide if I want to torture my self now or wait till Drink Deep comes out. I think I will read The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons by Katie Macalister while I make up my mind.

I've read the first two of Jayne Anne Krentz's latest trilogy, & now I just have to wait for the third. I am currently playing with the web browser on my "oh holy cr*p, I LOVE my kids!" Mother's Day present, a Kindle. So as soon as I post thiis, I'm getting the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews to reread before Magic Slays comes out on the 31st (which I will be reading just soon as I'm done with KoS!) (I have to space out rereading the Psy-Changeling books becuz KoS is still too far away)

I'm slowly going through the entire psy/changeling series in preparation for the book that will release in just under 25 days from now!

Finished Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris earlier this week and I have been trying to read something else to get it off my mind. It is stuck, stuck, stuck! I am a big Eric fan so this means I will have to ruminate for a whole year until the next one. So much to think about, argh ;) Kiss of Snow will fix this-hurry up May 31st!

Just finished Dragon Bound & loved, loved, loved it. The characters are great & fun to read about. I've pre-ordered the next one.
I have a whole pile waiting but after such a good book it is hard to choose. I think it may be WarCry since there haven't been any disappointed comments about that book. Hard Bitten & Dead Reckoning are in my TBR pile tho.

Finished Hard Bitten last night. Chloe blogs "Trust me" - guess I have to trust her the same way I did Karen Marie Moning in her Fever series. Now reading Dead Reckoning and Archangel's Consort is up next.

I, too, am most upset by Chloe Neill's latest "Hard Bitten". I had a funny feeling about it from the start and after a couple chapters I skipped to the end and was glad I did. I would have hated to read it all the way through and then get the bad news. Is
Charlaine Harris' new book ditching Eric now?? I can't take too many at a time like this. Losing my favorite main male characters doesn't leave me very happy.

I finished reading Maya Rodale's A Tale of Two Lovers, and loved how the two main characters were a bit different than the norm, but the story was adorable. I'm reading Sarach MacLean's second book right now (was in my TBR pile) so I can read the third. Very excited about that one. Dragon Bound is in the mail. :)

Finished "Dragon Bound" by Thea Harrison. LOVED it and am now sad that it is over and I don't know if my next book canbe as good until the end of May w/ KoS and Kate Daniels, have the next book "Storm Front" on pre-order; oddly enough speaking of Anne Gracie I just reread "Captive Bride", love Harry the hero. Read "Bound by Darkness" by Alexis Morgan and it was very good. More like the beginning of her Paladin series. Thank to all as always for your recommendations.

Just got done reading Relentless by Lauren Dane, which is the second in her Federation series. Loved the story - intense plot and and steamy love scenes - just up my alley! Also finishing Pleasure's Edge by Eve Berlin, which is also very good. I finally got Lover Unleashed from the library, so I will be digging into that.

Just finished "Dragon Bound." Thanks for the rec! The story was engaging to the point that I almost missed my subway stop! :-) I'm looking forward to learning more about this world and the supporting characters.

And by the way, Nalini, I'm hoping to make it to your book signing in NYC. I'm glad that you are coming across the water to us. Every time I click on your website, I get a kick out of the fact that one of the lights in your city picture is probably my bedroom! :-)

aiyoo.. i actually dnf adrian phoenix book 4 etched in bone... anyone else read it and what did you think?

Nalini - The Perfect Rake is one of my favourite historical romances, because Gideon sees Prudence as beautiful, doesn't even see her diamond-of-the-first-water sisters, just her. *SIGH*

I'm just about to finish Cold Magic, and then I'm turning to crime...the genre :)
