Kiss of Snow

I have some fairly major news to share - Kiss of Snow will be releasing in hardcover first.

I know not everyone's going to be excited by this, but I have more news that should make you all smile.

The release date has been moved up to June 2011, plus the book has ended up quite a bit longer in length (more Hawke!).

Also, the paperback will be releasing only 6 months after the hardcover, in December.

The e-book edition will release the same time as the hardcover.

Wow. Well, congrats, Nalini, this means you've hit the big time, which is AWESOME for you!!

But dang, as a reader, I'm always bummed when a series goes from PB to HC, mostly because it messes my bookshelves up. ;o)

That being said, you're one of the authors who I consider to be worth going HC for, so I'm happy to pay the money to get Hawke in my hands the moment it becomes available.

Congrats on your success!

BTW - Guild Hunters are still paperback, yes??

Vorpaks said...

Congratulations!!! I buy the kindle version so it just means a bit more $$$, which I am totally willing to pay for abbit more Hawke. ;)

Congratulations!! and yay for more Hawke! :)

Thank God the e-version releases the same time as hardback. If I had to wait for hardback, I'd have to wait months before I got my hands on Hawke.... err, Hawke's book.

Madhura said...

Congrats, Nalini - well deserved.

I would love to have Hawke's book in any format I can get. Actually, make that any book of yours. And more pages makes me go :D:D:D.

MaryK said...

Well, my bookshelves and bank account are not sure they like the idea, ;D

but

YAY! That means you've Made It, right? :D

Congrats on making the jump to hardcover!

Just remind your publisher that we think they suck if they make us pay more than $9.99 for the ebook.

I'm excited to read this one. It's been so sad, Hawke watching the others pair up believing he will never have that...and now he gets his HEA! I'm tickled it is going to be longer too. Feel free to do that to any of them that you want! =)
Thanks for the news Nalini, have a great week! ~Nikki

Since I always read your books more than once, hardcover is still a good value for me. I can't wait!

Anonymous said...

I'm so happy the release has been moved up!!!! =) So are they thinking early June or late June?

Anonymous said...

Does this mean they are going to reprint the other books in the series in hardcover? Because I would love that! I am OCD about my books matching on the bookshelf:)

Mujerluminosa said...

Hello Nalini...Congrats...Cannot wait for the release.. I love your books so it does not matter if it is hardcover of paperback as long as I can read it..

Diane said...

Hey! that's great news for you! I'll certainly try it in HC but it won't fit with the rest of the series and that's a big problem.
Do you know if your books will be out in audio? I know your Angels are and that's wonderful.

Roksana said...

Darn, now all of your books won't be nice and even on my bookshelf...oh well, it's what's on the inside of the book that counts. More Hawke you say? Woo Hoo!

Hooray!!!-I think all of Florida just heard that. Huge Congrats Nalini on going to HC! I will buy your books however I can get them and the longer the better (Hawke...*sigh*)
What a super B-day present for me!!
I just hope they will re-release all the other in HC too, I would love to have them in both PB and HC. It will keep me from getting an eye twitch each time I look at my book shelf.

Florentina said...

Congratulations, Nalini! Hardcover means something.
It's not so easy to carry everywhere I go, but that doesn't matter. I will just lie in my bed to read it. The date is great, because my exams period ends in June. :)
And I won't have to carry it home to Austria.

Anonymous said...

The optic of my bookshelves will suffer, but I will survive it:-).

You definitely deserved it Nalini!

More Hawke sounds great (How many pages?) and June sounds even better. I hope that the HC will be v-e-r-y beautiful. Any chances that Tony Mauro can create it?

RedButterfly said...

YAY *squeal* SO HAPPY XD now we will have Hawke earlier ^_~

Congrats Nalini :D Im glad that the ebook version is coming out at the same time as the Hardcover ;)

Also dying of happiness, since the book is going to be longer ;p

Overall AWESOME news ^_~

Congratulations, I guess this means the Nalini Singh secret is out:)

While HC may be a little harder on the pocket book, I think most of us have a list of a few authors who we know are worth it. I'd buy any of your books in HC, and that's saying a lot since I'm a major frugalista:)

Now if only they would move up the release date for Archangel's Consort to tomorrow I'd be completly happy:)

That SUCKS! I hate when my favorite authors books go to HB, not only does it cost more but its an inconvenience cause its so bulky and hard to carry around. Not to mention its always some stupid sheet of paper used as the cover when in fact the book binding itself is plain. My motto is once you go to HB its time to move on and start downloading HB's for free where you can find them. Just keeping it real.

Nalini Singh said...

How many pages (or words) are we talking about?

This is a rough estimate so don't quote me on it, as it depends on formatting, how much text is on a page, final edits etc, but I'd say around a 100 pages longer.:)

Nalini Singh said...

My motto is once you go to HB its time to move on and start downloading HB's for free where you can find them. Just keeping it real.

Or you can wait for the paperback; buy the ebook; borrow a legitimate copy from a library. All very much real options that will still support the series.

Teri Anne said...

Frankly I don't think that a month early is worth the price difference between a paperbook and hardcover. I agree with several others that the size is a problem. I hate it when I have to move things around to accomodate the new size.

MaryK said...

Huh! O_O Well, I made noises about size and price being a problem, but I was mostly joking.

Seriously, my bookcases are already such a jumbled mishmash another hardback crammed in isn't going to make much difference. And it's not like that many of my favorites have gone to hardback. In fact, I think it's pretty cool when an author I've followed forever makes it to hardback status.

Kooritsuki said...

phew!! I was so afraid that you were going to say the ebook version is also going to be 6 months after the hardcover. Thank god~! I admit I wouldn't be thrilled with HC either if I were buying PB before... and then I'll usually forget about the whole thing when PB comes out and end up not following the series anymore.

But I'm totally willing to pay more for my Kindle version of the book if I can get it when HC comes out. :) :)

Erin E. said...

I don't care about the differences in books or what it will do to my bookcase, I am just thrilled that Nalini gained that status. It is very well deserved and I will continue to faithfully buy the books, no matter the price. It is absolutely worth it to read the wonderful world and characters Nalini has created and escape reality for a little bit!

FYI, downloading HB for free where you can find them is piracy and illegal. Why would you steal from one of your favorite authors when you can check it out at a library or borrow from a friend?!

Kaleigha said...

I love, love, love hardcover books! And congratulations to you, very well deserved jump. Now I just have to work my mojo to see if you back catalogue can be re-released in hardcover, too...

Finn said...

Normally I really hate it if i a whole series in one format and then have to change to another one but ... who cares as long as we get Hawke XD AAWWWW !! And it will be released in june --- my god, I'm so happy, even my maths lesson tomorrow can't make me sad anymore *lol*
I'll stop before I begin to scream like the fangirl i am...

Btw congratulations for going HC ^_^

orannia said...

Congrats Nalini! That is fantastic news for you. Being that I have the series in MMP format I will be waiting to buy Kiss of Snow in MMP format (I'm OCD when it comes to book size - books in a series need to be the same size :) but I will borrow it from the library in hardback form.

Unknown said...

I absolutely hate hard cover books. I travel a lot and they are just hard to take with you and it's not really comfortable to read a hard cover book in the bath. I understand the economics behind it but I would rather pay hard cover price for a paperback than have to buy the hard cover format...I'll probably switch to an ebook for this release since that's more appealing that a hard cover. Still have the issue with reading in the bath but its easier to travel with.

Anonymous said...

Congrats!
Counting the days until Hawke's book is available.

SaraH said...

Good for you! But a pity for me! Means I have to wait longer than expected! Will buy the paperback, hardbacks (and trade paperbacks) are a pain to read in bed! Oh well, I'm sure it will be worth the wait (Hellhounds was).

@Theresa I read ebooks in the bath.

I agree with the comments that the HBs are rather dodgey with the "stupid sheet of paper used as the cover when in fact the book binding itself is plain". I lose the silly cover most of the time anyway. :-)

Ashley said...

Congrats Nalini! And of all the characters we have been introduced to so far, Hawke is more than deserving of hardcover! I will probably end up waiting for the paperback, just because I'm OCD about all books in a series matching, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that my local library gets a copy FAST!

Thanks for writing such fabulous books!

myrandaroyann said...

I'm happy for you about the move to HC but I'm sad for my pocketbook! I buy the Kindle version so I'll save a little money that way. But either way, I'm buying this book as soon as it comes out. Like others have said you're one of the authors I consider worth the extra moolah.

Laura said...

That's awesome! I'm happy for you *and* happy to start getting your books in hardcover (yay durability - I've replaced enough paperbacks in my life that if it's a series I know I'll be rereading regularly, I'd much rather get it in hardcover to begin with.)

Here's hoping they reissue the rest of this series in hardcover too. :) Then my copies can all match!

(Also, more Hawke? Oooh...can't wait!)
