It's gorgeous! And I just realised - you've been translated into German and Thai? That is so cool!

And I'm looking forward to never Friday's bookclub - I'm picking up two complete disparate books at the library today - Twilight (yes, I've succumbed) and the third Sarah Monette book - The Mirador :)

Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

Beautiful!

O: I'm still looking at Broken Wing and it's still looking back at me! Hope you like Twilight.

Absolutely beautiful! I want to collect all the covers, even if I can't read them.

What other languages have they been translated in, Nalini, besides Thai and German? Any French or Spanish?

It's a gorgeous cover! Is the book translated almost verbatim, with no changes or scenes deleted? If so, I am surprised -- as Thai people are still very traditional and intimacy is not openly discussed much less have the sex scenes detailed as they are in the books.

Christina, StS has also been translated into Japanese. We've also sold French rights for Angels' Blood.

Tabitha - as far as I'm aware, the translation follows the original book.

Julia, all will be revealed tomorrow!

I'm so happy you all love this cover as much as I do :)

As far as I can tell the Thai translation work is truly following the original work.

But Tabitha, you are right about conservative value. Several year ago, some translated romance books was prohibited as porn. The publisher was actually sentenced to jail before he could get out by probation. So the translated version must be done very carefully. I think the words they used in Thai language are equivalent to flower language similar to what you found in romance 20 - 30 years ago.

However, I read the finished product (I am Thai) and think they do a very good job.

Gorgeous! My mother will be so happy, because she just retired and moved back to Thailand to be with most of our family.

Angel's blood in french? So awesome! Thanks Nalini.

May, thank you for letting me know.

I am not surprised to hear that some romances are considered porn in Thailand -- very much due to the descriptive sexual content. I wish I can read Thai -- I would love to learn the flower language used in the old days.

I love the cover! That's brilliant.

Also, I just finished Branded by Fire, and I'm frustrated that now I have to *wait* again for a new story! I especially loved how much of this novel was more about the community -- sure, the romance is steamy, but the way you revisit the earlier characters and how their relationships are continuing to grow really makes the story a cut above.

Thanks for that! I hope we'll see more of the Rats in the future. I dig them more and more each time we encounter them. :)
