Angels' Blood Countdown: Lora Leigh - Nauti Intentions ARC

Winner: The random numbers have rolled and Una is the winner! Una, please drop me an email at nalinisinghwrites AT gmail DOT com.

Only 2 days to go until the release of ANGELS' BLOOD! Here's what Fresh Fiction had to say about it:

Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series is a fabulous addition to the paranormal world...A definite must read.

Tonight's giveaway is a most delicious ARC - the fabulous Lora Leigh's
Nauti Intentions!
Fourth in the New York Times bestselling series known for 'blistering sexuality and eroticism.' (Romance Reviews Today)
Since he saw Janey Mackay taking a dip in her bikini, Major Alex Jansen has had to quell the fire she ignites in him. Even touching her would mean death at the hands of the Mackay men. Until now, the girl of his dreams - and fantasies - has lived in a vacuum of affection, shying away from the danger she thinks men represent. Alex sets out to prove her wrong, with his torturously slow caresses.

Everyone thinks Janey's safe now, with her abusers dead. But when someone starts leaving spine chilling notes, Alex won't rest until she's completely safe. And completely his - body and soul.
Nauti Intentions releases April 7th. Follow the link to read an excerpt! Is it wrong that I want to steal the cover model and keep him for myself - preferably half-dressed?

Today's entry question is inspired by that gorgeous cover: Naked (or semi-naked) male chests on covers - for or against? Why?

You know where I stand *grin*

Almost always for. There are the rare times where it just screams "we put a nekkid chest on here so women would buy it" but usually it works. Plus I'd much rather see a nekkid chest than the repeat cycle of female poses they tend to stick on.

Naked male chests! Always! Guaranteed to get my attention. Who wants to look at some perfectly proportioned, too gorgeous to live woman with her boobs spilling out of her dress when we could be looking at sexy male pecs and abs and guns?? Not I. ;-)

Anonymous said...

They look fabulous on a cover so always for. Besides, something nice to look at before you start reading a book and after you stop reading is just the way it is supposed to be.

ShellBell said...

I prefer a semi-naked male chest - I always believe in less is best. The less chest on display leaves more to the imagination and a little mystery as to what might be beneath the half open shirt.

Leontine said...

Naked chest always knows how to capture my attention. Serious ab defintion and arm power. Yup a serious seducer in bookcover power LOL Especially if some tats are thrown in the mix...*drool*

Blodeuedd said...

It depends, sometimes it's yay, other times, it's like...ok I can't read this book while waiting in line ;)
Half naked men have their time and place

Dannyfiredragon said...

Definitely for them. Those are real eyecatchers.

Well for the guy on the cover of Nauti Intentions - I want him just the way he is. Yummy.

I absolutely adore half-nekkid men on books. Since I'm a female.

prajantr said...

Nekkid chests on covers are so very tempting, so I vote Yay. Half nekkid chests that only enhance the deliciousness of the definition in the pecs and abs, even better.

I once read somewhere the marketing concept that you wanna see the guy, you wanna be the girl - from that I'm guessing that girls on the covers make readers kinda wanna be them so it's ok not to see their face or have them in silhouette that gives them some anonymity...but the guys on the covers, omm nom nom nom.

Not sure about the naked chests. I like backs and profiles. I remember Visions of Heat has a great cover with a back. Definitely sexy and mysterious.

I like naked male chests on the cover but do not prefer to bring that book with me to work. I am not ashamed to read romance but sometime really try to explain myself to my coworker especially my boss about what I read.

Missy Ann said...

While "man titty" may get me to buy a book, it does limit where I will read it. I've got a 11 yr old son and the poor thing would probably *die* if someone saw his mom reading that!

Anonymous said...

Mark me in the for column. It definitely catches my eye.

Unknown said...

I learned my lesson, the one book I bought this year because of the naked chest on the cover was horrible. I might change, but only if we'd get some covers with chest hair. I hate to read a book where they hero is described as having hair on his chest and the cover has another hairless model.

Chris said...

As long as they aren't too heavy in the manboob department... ;) I'm a huge fan of Nathan Kamp covers, actually.

Danni T said...

Well...hmmm..let me think... Definitely for!! It always catches my attention. But it doesn't have to be just a muscled chest it could be a muscled back as well.

Anonymous said...

I'm all for naked chests on books. Doesn't even matter the level of nakedness. I like that better than a half naked woman with her mouth open and her eyes half closed any day.

Anonymous said...

First, can I just say..I have never read a Lora Leigh :( LOL
Second....I think I prefer partially covered. I like a bit of mystery.

Jusy said...

Semi-naked man covers. Why show it all? Leave a bit for my imagination. It gets the brain juices going.

I think it's hilarious that my word verficiation is "pusses" *LOL* I wonder if it's tuned in with Lora's latest.

Kat said...

Neither, actually. I'm more of a science fiction person and as a group we MUCH prefer covers that show fully clothed, accurately portayed characters and/or scenes from the book.

Lizzielvr said...

Both. Depending on the cover, they can be hot either way, sometimes full view is excitting, but sometimes just a hint can get you there!

Tannun said...

Hey! Not fair, how are we men suppose to answer this???

How about some equal coverage or lack there of? Both sexes should be naked!

Anonymous said...

Either way is good for me. Sometimes you like to see naked, well defined, pecs and abs. Then there are times when just a peek works just as well.

Anonymous said...

ALWAYS!!!!! They're so purdy...

Brooke Reviews said...

It depends on how he's posed. I don't like carrying around books with naked guys on the cover lol

Unknown said...

I'm usually all for a little eye candy on the covers :) I love those built arms and abs, but I'm usually not a fan of man-boobies either :)

Anonymous said...

I usually don't mind but there are times when it just doesn't fit the story and it's just meant to catch feminine attention. I do get some awkward glances in the train though but whatever. If it fits the story, then bring on the nakedness!

Annie said...

I think that I'll go with against because sometimes, it is just a bit embarrassing to purchase books like that... but they're really nice to look at otherwise!

Pam P said...

I don't mind the semi-naked ones, and those that appeal personally to use sure do get us looking more into a book, lol. I like this one on Lora's latest.

Anonymous said...

I'm ALL FOR a naked male chest...that way even if the cover model doesn't match the character description in other ways (ie hair / eye color...) at least they get the sexy body! Oh and I love when the artist adds tattoo's if the character is supposed to have them... that is SO HOT!

Cathy M said...

Love a naked male chest, but the chest has to match the face. A turn off is a sexy, ripped chest that doesn't match the rest of the body, too small head and neck.

Missy said...

Yummy covers are always good.

Rebecca Chastain said...

I agree with Sami--I'm almost always for them. There are a few that are just to corny, but those are usually older books. The newer covers are very nice, as is Lora Leigh's cover.

Lisa said...

Yummy naked chests are always a plus so I say yes.

twalls said...

I'm for naked or semi-naked male chests...doesn't really matter which one. They both give me something to drool over and everyone needs some eye-candy sometimes.

orannia said...

I'm going to sit on the fence (with binoculars :) on this one. I prefer a subtle hint....so semi-naked. It just leaves more to the imagination :) Plus...some of the chests seem just a little too perfect...like the art department went a little mad :)

tetewa said...

Love seeing these on covers but would have to go with the semi-naked. Keeps you wanting to see more!

Linda said...

Love a good naked man's chest on the cover. I actually like it best when he still has a shirt on but it's open. You know, low slung jeans, chambray shirt hanging loose and unbuttoned. Whew! Okay, I'll stop now. LOL

Tracy said...

Naked, semi-naked... it's all good to me! I just want sexy guys on the cover!

:)

Marnie said...

Chest visible with a shirt still on. I find this absolutely hot.

jeanette8042 said...

I would say naked male chests! I'd rather see that than a pic of a barely naked woman

CrystalGB said...

I am for it. Nothing better than some nice eye candy.

Anonymous said...

I'm for them most of the time....as long as it looks good (which it always does *grin*) and fits with the type of story.

Anonymous said...

I really had to think about this. I think that I prefer a partially naked chest, because it lets me imagine how I could finish getting it naked! Not that I mind a naked chest though. Have a good one!

Anonymous said...

Almost naked. It is almost like a tease... Besides, it leaves a lot to the imagination. :D

I kind of like the naked guy chests!! :)

Lisa F. said...

Always for!!! Something about it always catches my eye. I love a pretty cover with some nice eyecansy on it!

Spari said...

It depends on the book and the model, but usually I have no problem with naked male chests.

Unknown said...

Hmm..semi-naked. But mostly, I prefer the covers to NOT have the naked male chests (though drool-worthy indeed) simply because I can't read them in public. :(

Jess (The Cozy Reader) said...

I don't hate them. They are nice eye candy. :)

I'm all for naked chests.

Unknown said...

Semi-naked please, I'm all about the man candy.

Christine M. said...

I have no problems with them chests on the cover but it won't influence my choice in buying it or not.

Kammie said...

I love the naked chest covers. Especially when it looks like an alpha male and he's a little mysterious. Those dark sunglasses add to that.

Barbarita V said...

I like chest but not too naked. I like to be able to pick a book that I can read in front of my daughter without feeling embarrassed.

Leslie said...

Semi-naked and leave the rest to my imagination - including what's below the chest. *g*

Anonymous said...

Either is fine with me, but with semi-naked makes u want to rip the shirt off. lol. Cover model is yummy! Nauti Intentions sounds great and I love this series. I found Maverick today at walmart and grabbed it. I can't wait to read it, but have to finish the book I'm reading now first.

All’sReads said...

For, and more please! It reminds me of the potential every guy has, lol.

Anonymous said...

I liked the naked male chests although i have to explain things to my inquisitive 5 year old daughter often

Anonymous said...

I like them both!!!!

Anonymous said...

i like the half naked covers... i need to something to look forward to.

donnas said...

Semi-naked, it allows a little more mystery and fantasy.

Midnight said...

both ... some for their sexy-ness and some for the mystery baby ...

:winks:

Pamk said...

naked chest is fine but total neckedness is a little to far. Don't like to hid my books from the kiddos.

Lori T said...

I am definitely for the naked male chest...it can draw my attention to the cover and once the book has my attention...the chances quickly improve for my buying it.

Anonymous said...

anyone is ok with me it is what inside that counts

kh

Unknown said...

Totally! It's incentive for us!

LighthouseSandy said...

Oh, definitely for! Lots of skin is a huge eyecatcher for me!

Eva S said...

Yes for the naked male chests! I need something to brighten my day....

Una said...

Well, I'm all for naked and semi-naked, but it all depends on where I am reading. For books I'm seen in public with (waiting in lines at government agencies for work, etc) I stick to the more plain (dull) subdued covers.

However, at home, vacations, my office at lunch - I love seeing a nicely sculpted male on the cover, and I do prefer a little more semi-naked...my imagination is an overachiever only does fabulously well with just a little hint.

Pearl said...

All and absolutely for!
Girl's gotta have someting to drool over!
And they look sooooooooooo nice on my bookshelves, all those (half) naked chests!

Always a blast to see family members gawking at the bookshelves *evil grin*

Autumncat said...

I like both. ;-) However, even though an attractive cover might catch my attention, it won't influence my book buying.

Kytaira said...

I love naked male chests! Semi or fully naked isn't as important as the definition. Nice pecs and ab ripples! Also a nice tan. Don't like chest hair. A well defined back can be great as well.

If it's a title that doesn't sound romance, it's nice to have a non-romance looking cover. it's just easier to carry in public without the hassle and looks.

kim said...

Either, though it does influence where I feel comfortable reading the book.

Heather B. said...

Have to say for. I love the covers for the Nauti series and Elizabeth Amber's Lords of Satyr covers are just plain yummy!!!

Heather

Anonymous said...

I would say semi-naked. It still leaves a bit to the imagination. Of course, either naked or a tight t-shirt will work well also. :)

Anonymous said...

FOR! I mean, come on. Okay, I do have to say maybe keep the guys clothed because a guy is in my book club and he doesn't read books with "sweaty man" covers. But as a woman, I say have those men take off the clothes!

Unknown said...

Anything is usually fine with me, although some poses work better than others.

Anonymous said...

Semi-naked is so much better I think, it gives more ides to drool over

Karin said...

Oh, I'm 99.9% always for the naked male chest. There's just something so yummy about looking at them.

Anonymous said...

As long as it's artfully done. Or really droolworthy. Oh, who am I kidding I'm totally for naked man chest! In fact I'm in favor of taking it further - I think Elizabeth Amber's Satyr series covers are tasteful and HAWT! One of my fav covers is Lora Leigh's second Nauti book Nauti Nights because the cover model had some light chest hair and a yummy happy trail.

JH said...

Both. I love beautiful covers, especially those that have drool worthy looks.

limecello said...

Ooo this was a fabulous giveaway - as for the cover... I think it depends on the book/covermodel/rest of it. :) Either can be equally well done.

Mary M. said...

I am so totally in favor. What,s not to like? Those models are so gorgeous and well-defined. There is the downside of having to hide the cover on the bus if you don't want to gather snickering looks, but when I'm home I love looking at the hot cover and picture the hero looking like that.

Marissa said...

I am all for it! A girl got to have some nice eye candy while reading, this certainly entices you to buy the book.
