Angels' Blood Countdown: Chris Marie Green - Night Rising

Winners: The random winners of Night Rising are farscape_girl and twalls! Please email me at nalinisinghwrites AT gmail DOT com if you don't get an email from me.

6 days to the release of ANGELS' BLOOD!

ANGELS' PAWN is now out and already getting great reviews. Here's what Angela at Touch the Night had to say about it.
I’m continually amazed by Nalini’s ability to create fully realized characters, especially in novellas where the shortened format makes that difficult for a lot of authors. Angels’ Pawn is no different...It’s a fantastic read...and I highly recommend it.

Tonight, we're celebrating with a giveaway of not one but two copies of Chris Marie Green's Night Rising, book 1 of her Vampire Babylon series.

Chris also has A Drop of Red, book 4 in the series coming out in March. Here's the blurb for A Drop of Red.
_____________
Hollywood stuntwoman-turned-vampire hunter Dawn Madison is tired to the bone and beyond. Along with her comrades-in-arms, she managed to wipe out the Los Angeles Vampire Underground. And in doing so, she uncovered not only her own dark family heritage but also a terrible truth about the man she loves. Now all she wants to do is get to the next bloodsucking community, taking care of business with them, too.

Luckily, when it comes to battling the undead, there’s no shortage of Undergrounds.

When a new one is found in England, Dawn and the team are dispatched to carry the fight from the flash of Los Angeles to the seemingly staid and stolid streets of London. Dawn knows by now how
deceiving appearances can be—and she is about to find out that it’s not only the beautiful people of Hollywood who are willing to bargain with evil…
And a note from Chris to tell you a bit more about her upcoming release!

I hope you’ve read the first three books in the series (“the Hollywood trilogy,”) because number four is ready to take you and Dawn Madison’s hunting team further Underground. In NIGHT RISING, the “main mystery” focused on the deaths of Jesse Shane and Robby Pennybaker.

In MIDNIGHT REIGN, the “Vampire Killer” murders were solved.

In BREAK OF DAWN, the mysteries of Benedikte and the Hollywood Underground were tied up.

And, in A DROP OF RED, the “main mystery” has a little something to do with some very young, naughty wild girls who seem to keep a terrible, strange beast in a bedroom upstairs. You’ll find out how this mystery will tie into the newest Underground by the end of book four, and, in book five, THE PATH OF RAZORS (August, 2009), the team will be ready to go full throttle against this Underground!

Happy hunting. : )

All the best,

Chris Marie Green

Werewolves or Vampires or ??? Who would win?

The fae would win. Most vampire and werewolf mythology has them being human at one time so even when they change they still have human weaknesses. Some feel guilt, others get greedy, or they pine for companionship. In most folklore the fae were never human, they have their own rules. Since they almost never die they are always looking at the big picture so if they came up against the vamps or weres they would be playing to win the war not just a battle or two.

Dannyfiredragon said...

Werewolves or any kind of shifter would win.

Blodeuedd said...

That is the eternal question, but thinking about the teeth on werewolves I would pick them in hand to hand combat.

Donna said...

Werewolf or Vampire, man that is a tough question. Can I pick a tie? There are many arguments for either side. But if you go by old legends than I'd pick werewolf. In truth, I'm not partial to either side. I like 'em both!

Jeanne Ryan said...

Seeing as vampires tend to be immortal, super fast and really strong, unless the werewolf catches them unawares, I'd say it comes to the vamps.

That and the vamps always get the girl.

May said...

Werewolves and that because of beast in them.

Jess (The Cozy Reader) said...

This is a toss up for me. I <3 both. If I were picking from Edward vs Jacob, Edward hands down would win.

But I've read some tasty books where I'd want the werewolf to win.

Basing it off of skill....it think it's a tough call. I say vamp! But I <3 shape shifters too!

CrystalGB said...

I think werewolves would win. :)

Chris said...

Hmm. It's hard to answer this question without specifics about whose world we're discussing. ;) That said, I think I'd like the werewolves to win.

kim said...

That depends on the mythology behind the story - what their limitations, special gifts, are etc.

Anonymous said...

I'm going to have to go with Chris and Kim on this one...without knowing the background, I'm not really sure who would win. Vampire and Werewolves can be evenly matched depending on the mythos, so it could end up being a draw. However, the Fae/Sidhe tend to be nasty fighters, so they would definitely have a sporting chance.

At the same time, you would definitely have to count any kind of witches or warlocks in the mess. Depending on the mythos, some witch/warlocks are immortal as well, plus they have the spells on their side. That I would think would have to give them an advantage.

Spari said...

Depends on the kind of werewolf/vampire, but I think the werewolf would win.

Anonymous said...

Werewolves! Unless they are shifting!

Midnight said...

werewolves/Shifters hands down ... they have two secret weapons, there extra human strenght and the streght of the beast insdie them ...

:winks:

Lizzielvr said...

I think it would be a tie, but I think if you throw a demon in the mix, they would win!

Anonymous said...

I'm going to go with werewolves.

Erika Powell said...

i thought I would be in the minority of team werewolve but I guess other people like them better too. yay!

Lexie said...

Zombies XD Kidding kidding...hmmm I guess it really depends on what vampire or werewolf mythos you are going with. I think that Dracula could kick the Wolfman's butt in the movies, but then there are urban fantasy and paranormal books where the werewolves/shifters can clearly kick Vampire butt (look at Ilona Andrews' shifters vs. vampires in the Kate Daniels books!).

Anonymous said...

I'm going for a tie, because I think it will depend on the situation and both can win.

Danni T said...

I don't really know which one would win. They both have their strength and weaknesses, and what those are depends on how a movie/author has portrayed them. Some make vampires vulnerable to holy water , some do not. Some make weres only able to shift with the full moon, and again some do not. It just depends.

Marnie said...

Vamps at least in my world. HEHEHEHE

Anonymous said...

Vampires! <3

Unknown said...

I think that a werewolf would win against a vampire in a battle, but I have to say that I love them both.

donnas said...

Personally I am partial to vampires so they would win. I like shifters but I think they have more limitations. Of course there are some books where I did end up wanted the shifter to beat the vampire. But without being world specific, I still vote vampire.

The Brunette Librarian said...

My favorites are shapeshifters....and I think their teeth would give them a HUGE advantage. :)

VampFanGirl said...

Werewolves vs. Vampires

I think the question of who would win can never be solved. It's a never ending battle where one or the other can be in the lead at any given time. They'll either one day join forces and combat some new evil or they will fight for eternity.

Bridget Locke said...

Huh...truthfully I think it'd be a pretty even match, though I have to say from my personal experience (writing-wise) that shifters are pretty kick butt. I mean, they've got claws and sharp teeth and are fast. Eek! :)

Chris Marie Green/Crystal Green said...

Hey, all--and thank you to Nalini for posting this contest!

I say vampires win, but only if they have psychic powers (sway, hypnosis, general Jedi mind screwery). :)

Shaymless Aymless said...

Oh that's tough. I think it would depend on which world you were talking about. In Kresley Cole's, probably the vamps due to sheer numbers. On the other hand in Meljean Brook's Savi is both so she would win! *g*

Brooke Reviews said...

If it was between werewolf and vampire, I'd have to go with werewolf. I think demons or magic users could kick both their butts though!

tetewa said...

Definately have to go with vampires and they would win because there already dead.

Una said...

Werewolf versus Vampire - that's a tough decision. One on one, depending on the mythology, I would think the Vampire. However a couple werewolves against a single Vampire, the Werewolves will win.

However it really would depend on which mythology of each you are battling together.

Anonymous said...

As much as I love both of them, I think werewolves would win

Karin said...

I'm not sure who would win. Each side, vampires and werewolves, have their own advantages and disadvantages. A lot of it would depend on the conditions of the battle - which species had more fighters, where they're fighting, what time of day they're fighting...

If I absolutely had to choose one, then I'd probably go with vampires over werewolves, sadly.

Anonymous said...

Vampires. Hands down. They're awesome. :P

Barbarita V said...

They are both sexy in different ways. I can imagen a sexy vampire sucking blood to his heroine and making her HOT. A warewolve is cuddlely, sexy but can also be fearful and protective.

Rebecca Chastain said...

Werewolves. Definitely werewolves.

Anonymous said...

Oh, tough...
One on one, I think maybe the vamp would win seeing as how they're already undead...but it wouldn't be for lack of trying on the were's part. The were would definitely put up a good fight and go down fighting. If we're talking more than one at a time, I think perhaps the weres would have the advantage.

Lisa F. said...

I'm going iwth the Vamps on this one.

@GeekWillow said...

I'd say that it depends on the relative ages of the vampire and werewolf. Whoever is older would most likely have more experience fighting and would therefore win.

But if it were an Edward -vs- Jacob fight, oh yeah... Edward (vampire) all the way!

Christine M. said...

Depends on their skills! Depending on which 'mythology' we're talking about, they may or may not win. I mean, Bram Stocker's Dracula vs UF Werewolf? Werewolf wins. But take Lestat instead and he might just win himself a new pelt!

dd03 said...

I'm gonna say Michael from Underworld! lol

He's both vampire & werewolf. the best of both worlds.

jk.

I'll pick vampires...my first like. They seem to have more mobility through space in most mythos. where as werewolves are more earth bound, if that makes sense...unless it's SK's DH world. gah! I guess it just depends on whose "world" were talking about.

stopping. confusing. self. *hurts*

Lisa said...

I think probably werewolves because they aren't limited by the sun.

Anonymous said...

Werewolves. The vampires may be sexy predators, but werewolves inherit their cousin wolf's animal instincts and I think an animal mind wants to blend and create. The vampire will want to consume and annihilate. Not that that's a bad thing LOL. I just love my shape shifters.

twalls said...

Well, dependent on which mythology you're going with...if your vampires are hampered by the sun and your werewolves are not...I say werewolves. I think they would have a slight advantage then. I like them both though.

Pam P said...

I, too, think it depends on the world and how old and powerful either may be, and not just who's physically stronger either, cunning can be be a factor. Hard to say, but I'm going with the vamp.

Anonymous said...

I'm a HUGE vampire fan, so I have to go with the vamps. :-)

Sarah said...

I think werewolves would win in a hand to hand combat... vamps always seem so frail to me (no offense to the vamp lovers out there!)

Vamps would probably win if they have other supernatural abilities such as mind control or something.

jeanette8042 said...

Hmm that's difficult but I would say the vampires because of their speed and cunning attacks, plus I have an affinity for them!

Anonymous said...

I think a werewolf would win during a hand to hand combat but a vampire would win if he had mind control os some other kind of supernatural abilities.

JH said...

I like the werewolf.

Werewolves or Vampires?
That is an interesting question. I would say werewolves because of the brute strength and the sharp set of teeth.

I definitely have to give this one to the werewolves. They hunt in packs ;-)

Anonymous said...

I guess if I have only those to pick from I'm gonna go with TEAM WEREWOLF!

even though vampires can hold there own pretty well.

but a god or demon could kick both their butts :)

here's a more awesome question: who would win between any paranormal creature vs. Acheron (from S. Kenyon's dark hunter series)

and the answer will always be Acheron!

Katie said...

The vamps would have it. I mean they are already dead!

Anonymous said...

Easy question the Vamps would win;)

Anonymous said...

I can't pick between them! So I'll pick - other!

Anonymous said...

This is a toughie!! But I think I would go for the Werewolf, just too big and mean for a Vampire.

Unknown said...

Hmmmm...I'm thinking vamp. But personally, I think weres are sexier!

Kytaira said...

Werewolves would win. I think they have less weaknesses and could turn the vampires weakness into their own strength.

Maigan Silverstein Rarick said...

Ooh, very hard. I'd say between those two, a vampire would win. ;) Albeit, I am more fond of vampires, but if the vampire has special powers, it would probably have the greater advantage over a werewolf. Maybe the fight would just be a tie.

Of course, if I chose my own opponent, I'd have to say angel vs. vampire/werewolf, and the angel would win. ;) Then again, I am completely bias, because I love ass-kicking warrior angels.

Orangebeaker said...

Werewolves, hands down. No fight here. Werewolves will keep the heroine warm.

Asylumgirl said...

I've gotta go with vampires. They've always been my first love.
