So you all know I'm a big old JD Robb fangirl. The other day, I was thinking about who I would choose to play Eve and Roarke (and even Mavis and Peabody) if I was the director of a JD Robb movie. And I dunno - I had some possibilities but I don't know if anyone could ever come close to my image of what the characters look like.
What about you? Any suggestions for stars to fill in the spots? What book (any author) would you love to see made into a movie?

I'm sure I'm probably in a minority but I'd rather no movies be made of books I love because they never seem to do them justice.
I agree with catslady. I really hope they don't make a movie out of it. Nalini, like you I can't imagine anybody playing Roarke. If they cast him incorrectly, I'll probably never be able to read the books again, because I'll always be picturing that person in my head when I read.
I totally agree with what the ladies above have said. Just leave the books alone and let us enjoy them. My worst fear is them casting the WRONG Roarke (shudders). Personally I cant think of anyone that could do his character justice.
Well maybe Jonathan Rhys Myers bulked up and alittle older.( fans myself) ;)
I've got to go with the rest. Screen adaptions never live up to the book and in worse case scenarios spoil the original pleasure. I think it's partly because no two people visualise characters the same and that movies often don't pick-up on small moments that in the book gives meaning/atmos.
I'm interested in seeing the Nora Roberts films but also wary 'cause I love some of the books they've adapted.
I think the Robb series could become really formula on screen; for some reason I always assume Pierce Brosnan would play Roarke and I'm not convinced it would work. mmmm Jonathan Rhys Myers interesting ;)
Only adaption I champion as equal to the book is the BBC Pride & Predjudice; Firth/Darcy anyone? >sigh<
I think I have to agree with all of you, too. I just can't imagine ANYONE playing Eve and Roarke!
And I second that BBC adaptation! I have the dvd and must've watched it a hundred times!
Dying to Please by Linda Howard. I think it could work because it's a contemporary suspense about a female butler who has been fixated on by a killer. I don't know who I'd want to play what part but I think it'd be a great movie.
I've read that one - loved the butler aspect. I actually think a lot of LH books would make good movies - they're quite action-packed.
I have spent way too much time trying to cast the movie and what I have come up with is this; a movie would be way to short, but if done properly a TV series would be fabulous. I think Aaron Sorkin could write it, he cohort Tommy Schallame (sp?) could direct it and here are several suggestions for actors
Eve ?
Rourke: Gerald Butler
Dr Mira: Kate Mulgrew
Morris: Robert Joy
I'm not a big fan of movies being made of books, especially my favourite romances (I'm not talking about classics such as Pride and Prejudice etc as I have loved the various adaptations done).
I have nightmares whenever I think about Julie Garwood's For The Roses. Absolutely loved the book, but the TV movie (Rose Hill) was just dreadful.
Shellbell - thanks for the warning. I'll make sure never to watch Rose Hill! I loved For the Roses, too.
