Lora Leigh's Breeds

If you've been reading this blog over the past month, you'll have realized I've gone crazy over reading lately. One of my 'discoveries' just before Christmas, was Lora Leigh's Breeds series. I raced through Megan's Mark, then began Harmony's Way.

If you haven't read these books, Lora Leigh's world is a place where the Genetics Council has engineered human and animal DNA together to create Breeds. These Breeds were meant to be soldiers and assassins and were kept locked up in labs, but have now found freedom and the world has to deal with them.

Here's the blurb for Megan's Mark (from LL's site):

Cursed with the extraordinary power to feel other peoples' emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff's deputy. She finds solace in the silence and heat of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realizes that the secrets from her past can't stay buried forever. Someone is out for blood - her blood.

An arrogant Feline Breed, Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the mysterious murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with him can she let down her guard - and surrender to the insatiable hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the elusive killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey...

These books are hot enough to singe (talk about sizzling chemistry!) but what really did it for me was that I fell in love with the characters and more importantly, I could imagine them falling in love with each other. Megan and Braden just 'fit'.

I had the same reaction to Lance and Harmony in Harmony's Way. These couples might be driven together by the mating heat, but what keeps them together is how right they are for each other.

It's sexy, it's original and it has great characters - I totally recommend this series. (FYI: Megan's Mark isn't actually the first book - several of the series came out in e-format, but I had no trouble picking up the threads of the world so go forth and read!)

The next book is Tanner's Scheme (Aug 07), which I have managed to get my paws on in advance through various nefarious methods! I'll post on that closer to the release date since it would be just mean to tease you all so far in advance! *g*

There are also more in that series released with Ellora's Cave. I am in the process of trying to get them all as well. I love that series. Another series that I think is neat is Christine Warren's Others (Wolf at the Door and She's No Faerie Princess) she also has other books from the series released with Ellora's Cave.

It is a great series but I've had a devil of a time trying to get my hands on them. And kris is right. Christine Warren's series is a good one too.

Kris/Athena - I'll have to check out the C Warren stories. I haven't heard of her before. Thanks for the rec!

I've been a Lora Leigh fan for a long time but don't have your nefarious skills - guess I have to wait until it comes out.

But you are STILL a tease!

The last thing I need is another author and more books to add to my TBB pile, but I had to read what you wrote and now you have me intrigued. Thanks for the heads up.

They're an awesome series and you need to get the older ones from Elloras Cave. Amazon carries the print version and so does Borders. I'm waiting on my delivery of Harmony's Way and Elizabeth's Wolf. El. Wolf is her wolf breed series.

That's just MEAN to tease us with your possession of Tanner's story. I found Lora on Ellora's Cave and have ALL the breed books. Awesome series. And you have Tanner? *sob* You TEASE!

*stomps foot and mutters to self about mean, mean people*

You should post another excerpt from Visions or Ice to partially make up for your meanness. 's all I'm sayin'.

Maura - muwahahaha! *grin*

Joyce - I'm sure you'll enjoy them. I really did. :)

Liz - I definitely think I'm going to have to catch up on the series. AFTER I finish my WIP cause once I get the books, I won't be able to stop reading!

Jennifer K - oooh, you're good. Good thing I have a will of steel *grin* I've been thinking the excerpt thing over. Maybe sometime in Jan I'll send out another newsletter with an excerpt. :)

JANUARY? *dramatic sigh* That's like, 5 days from now. For-ever. I was thinking more along the lines of, say, today? Yes. Today works for me. Come on. I know you've got something. You have Visions done and you're giving out ARCS. And a little peek at Ice wouldn't KILL you.

I think you should share since you've been so mean. It was downright cruel to tease us that way with Tanner, so you should offer some token to show goodwill. It is the Christmas season, after all. Peace and goodwill to all, right?

Hi,I just discovered your sight. Love your book(s) and can't wait!!! All of the Breed series are available from Elloras Cave. Also there is a good stand alone in "Hot Spell".
This book will also lead you to the Emma Holly Demon series which is very good.

Yvonne - welcome :)

I've read the first of the Demon books and really enjoyed them. Now I'm waiting to get my hands on Prince of Ice. So many good books, so little time!
